I'm german and recently travelled to Malaysia, I tried durian and liked it 👍 The smell wasn't as bad as people always said it was, and the taste was good. I also tried other fruits like longan fruit and salak. It is amazing how many delicious fruits there are in southeast asia that we never see in europe.
You should also try another seasonal fruit which is mangosteen. Usually you can find it during the same durian harvesting season. Other fruits you should try in Malaysia is starfruit, guava, jackfruit, cempedak. Jackfruit and cempedak look similar on the outside but have very different taste and texture.
‘Rambut’ in Malay language means ‘Hair’ in english . ‘Rambutan’ literally means hairy fruit . ‘Duri’ in Malay language means ‘ Thorns or spikes’ . ‘ Durian ‘ literally means fruit with thorns or spikes.
This is unbelievable. Because some of travellers didn't like Durian, because the taste and smell very bad, but you guys proof that they're totally wrong! Lol thank you for like it, now both of you truly Malaysian! 😍🇲🇾❤️
I hardly ever comment on YT videos but this one is a great video! I love the fact that both of you are animal lovers and are true explorers at heart. This agro-tourism program is also a fantastic idea as well. Well done! Keep up the great videos!
makan lah, sepuas puas nya lah.. when both of you back to Europe mesti kamu berdua rindu dengan Durian Malaysia.. we are local pun tak dapat merasa musang king or durians kampung tiap2 hari..maybe sekali dalam setahun.. 😅
mostly Romanian loves Malaysia's signature Musang King & Black Thorn durian. The best durian version in the world among any breed comes from Malaysia. There are alot more types of other durians which is: Udang Merah (Red Shrimp) 101 XO Different types means different texture, appearances & absolutely TASTE. Usually China always import durian from Malaysia every season. One advice to you guys, whenever u eat durian, strictly please do not consume any alcohol drink because durian will make your body temperature bit high. If u do so, u will get heart attack. Good pair for cooling down the body heatness after eating durian is eat durian's best friend, Mangosteen. Durian - The King of Fruits (The Hotter) while Mangosteen - The Queen of Fruits (The Cooler/Balancer)
Well done and congrats Mike GG for liking durians. Never know you guys could accept the fruits though it was your first time trying...👍👍👏 FYI, not all Malaysians like durians. A super amazing experience indeed. Shout-out to all for this interesting farm tour.
I love your honesty and non-pretentious approach to eating the durian even for the first time and declaring you actually love them. Some Westerners make it out as though they're going through hell to even taste the fruit; I don't understand - durians are just natural fruits from mother earth, nothing added and nothing subtracted and of course, they taste like heaven!
Having lived here in the West for half-a-century it's not unreasonable for me to say they're being extremely hypocritical; e.g. they 'hate' the smell and taste of durian but they love their blue cheeses - the Stilton, Epoisses, Camembert, Roquefort and a host of others.
Michael is like a big kid . He just says what he think, which is not much actually and doesnt require much intellect. Actually when hes walking alone without GG, its Very funny, kiddish post. Keep us entertained michael!!!!
Yup.. you guys just experienced a real Malaysian experience. Binging on durian until your stomach is full. We do it at the roadside stalls.. at home etc. No need for dinner.
Both of you can try cendol durian. A type of drink based on coconut milk, brown sugar water and green flour jelly. This cendol is usually mixed with red beans and sweet corn. Can also be mixed with durian and sticky rice.
Last month our family went back to Malaysia for summer holiday after spend 5 years in abroad, we straight away look for Musang King and D24. Blackthorn hard to find, probably next time when we’re back again. Miss the taste of durians already. Malaysia has the BEST durian taste/flavour compared to other countries in the world.
Put aside the skin, pour some water on it and drink after you eat durian. This rather or somehow works to reduce the gasses after eating them. Also avoid to consume coffee or beers a few hours (2 - 4 hours, depending on individual dietary and food tolerance) before and after eating durian.
i have read somewhere, if i am not mistaken, that the aroma of durian is a mixture of 72 types of smell and same goes with the taste as well. so it is quite interesting to people describe the smell and the taste differently.
Yup....Papa Kaz from Japan...Jean's hubby.... described durian as having a rainbow tastes...🌈🌈... the taste would change from beginning towards the end when you are eating durian...👍👍...very beautiful description of durian's taste..😸🐈
It is kinda surprising how people who never see and taste durians before describe its taste. For me, a Malaysian who has eaten countless durians since I was little, durians taste like durians. The taste is unique. No resemblance to any other fruits. I do not taste banana, strawberry or onion or whatever in them. I taste durians - that's it. And I love the taste very very much.
. I think the very special thing about Durian is the aroma and not the taste. I do hope somebody will do a research on the effect of Durian Aroma on human mind, the reaction of the brain wave ( smell sense).
@@alihms That is a very fair comment. However if you were asked to describe a European cheese maybe you would describe it as having hints of Durain and Belacan 😀
There are several types of durians & fruits that native to Borneo & originally only available in Sarawak & Sabah. Their flesh can be white, yellow, orange or red with very different textures from common durians. Even the shapes & the colors of their skins are vary from green, yellow, orange to red as well.
Look forward to watching it later. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video n for showing your, up, close n personal experience with durian in Malaysia.
You guys should directly open and taste the durian if you find one that just falls from the tree. The fresh will make your tongue numb and the fragrance are slightly better, but after the durian falls off the tree for more than 15mins, this taste will be gone. Not everyone got the chances to wait for the durian falls 🤣 Nice sharing btw🤗 more and more different contents from you guys ! Good job !👍
Glad you're enjoying yourself. I don't like durian, which is a pretty rare attribute of a Malaysian. LOL! But I have many friends who would surely wish to go to that farm. BTW, rambutan is made famous by the band Curve when they released their compilation album with the picture of rambutans on the sleeve. The title of the album is "Pubic Fruit." 😄
Wow Mike and Gigi finally you ate durian hahaha ...very infomative and exciting experience you both had in the beautiful durian and fruit farm. Thanks for.sharing and its remind me of my childhood when I had overeating durian till vomitting it.Cheers and stay safe.
I am really surprise that you guys love the durian fruits even for the first time. It has a lot of protein, vitamin and very heaty as well. A lot of foreigner especially Europeans couldn't even stand a bite of it because it was so smelly.
I enjoy this video very much. It is truly authentic! Taste is very subjective, my favourite durian is the D24. Apparently, it was voted the best durian in Malaysia in a durian competition not too long ago. Thank you guys and enjoy the rest of your time here in sunny and heaty Malaysia!
For your info, in Sarawak some people eat durian with sago beads. If I'm not mistaken one famous British CNN reporter Richard Quests likes durian very much.
hi Michael and Gigi, you guys are so blessed and fortunate to try the freshest durian ever. However durians will start to ferment the moment they drop off from the tree and the longer it is not consumed the smellier it gets. Therefore instead of exporting durian (if really have to will need to freeze it properly - a lot of work) to Romania, how about teaming up with the orchard and bring the Romanians to come visit the farm since I think you have adopted Catherine(?) the baby durian and you can see your baby grow and while at it. 😁
Wow!! You guys are v v lucky to be able to eat good durians in the Agro farm itself … Come back in the next 2-3 yrs n checkout your durian tree.. Glad that you love our tropical fruits 🥰❤️❤️
TIps of choosing kampung durian, the awkward shape and hard to open ones are the best. Another one is there is a hole with durian worm, that's also the best as worms are the perfect quality check for durians. hehe
Good that you try the kampung one first... Hahaha.. if you try the expensive one.. I don't think you like the kampung durian.. but I love all types of durian.
D24 is what I usually have, but my fave type of durian is IOI. Very cool agro farm, gonna recommends it to a friend who will visit Malaysia next year from the US, but they're looking for watermelons xD
hi a little tip ...eat mangosteen fruit after eating durian to alleviate the burps. or another local way is to put water at the durian "shell" or durian skin? and drink that water. its supposed to neutralize the gassiness after eating durian... hope this helps. btw, never ever drink alcohol or gassy drinks after durian binge..people say its not good. i dont know whether this is based on medical facts so it could be just local folklore. anyway, continue to explore and enjoy Malaysia!
mike and gigi. great that u guys eat durian.!! 👍🏼. there are some tips🇲🇾 😏 how to eliminate burp /smell durian in yr hands? immediately u may try to pour some water into "the inside - pulp of durian" and directly drink from there. also wash hands using from that water. "SELAMAT MENCUBA"
I'm glad you like the durians. Try not to smell before you eat it especially your first time. I never saw peole smell cheese before they eat it and not everybody like it.
some people couldnt eat durian.. maybe bcoz of the smells, or the taste not quite right for them.. but for people who can eat durian will definately love em
You either love it or you hate it for a first timer both of you are doing fine i hope you enjoy this experience many european cant stand the smell of it
the wild durian in the juggle, some are very flavorful, with various taste. the the pulp is not that thick tho. i agree with her, the kampung varieties have unique flavors

Fun fact durian taste different and i can say durian in Malaysia is the best ngl if you it was your first time to try better buy from Malaysia

Oh wow finally u both tried durians. Kampung durians is actually very good. The reason u all eaten good durians is because it’s fresh from farm.

i have read somewhere, if i am not mistaken, that the aroma of durian is a mixture of 72 types of smell and same goes with the taste as well. so it is quite interesting to people describe the smell and the taste differently.
I think that's why Durians are well protected with thick and thorny skin.

U r right Gigi, d hairy red fruit is indeed rambutan.

You must try black thorn durian, the most expensive among all durian.. Its tasted more creamy than musang king..
