I live in Florida. I planted a 3 foot mango tree I bought at Home Depot about 10 years ago, It is huge at about 40-50 feet. To plant mango seeds all you have to do is take the seed even if it still has some mango fruit stuck to it and place that in a flower pot and cover it with soil. In just a week you will have a mango tree sapling extruding from the soil. Typically I will plant 6 seeds side by side and when they sprout you can separate them and move them to their own pots. Expect 5 years to get a fruit bearing tree. Scissors are not needed.

I also use cinnamon when germinating mango seeds. It seems to speed up the germination because mine have roots and are ready to plant usually within 10 days. I live in Thailand and it's cheaper to buy mangos at the markets but it's fun to grow my own too. The garden shop here also sells mango trees already 5-6 months old for 200 baht (less than $6 USD).

I would like to see the video (or next video) carry it through to the point of bearing fruit.
This either means, grafting from another "desireable" mango onto this sapling, or explaining the process of growing it for 15 years or more before it bears fruit.
And of course, when you grow a mango tree from a seed like this, you have no idea what type of mango you will get, (when it finally does fruit). Most likely a Kensington or Turpentine. Both of which will taste a lot like turpentine if you do not grant onto it.
Grafting is the next step, which should be done, if you are looking for a fruit tree with good tasting fruit.

If you need the text in English, that just say that as an answer 😊

    • @AustinTexasGardening

If youre in zone 10 or better (costal close to the equator ect) anytime is good, in fact, you could probably put the seed right in the ground. For anywhere zone 9 and up, the mango sapling will have to be in a container permanently, as it cannot withstand freezing or near freezing temperatures

It died three years ago during our big winter storm in Texas, even in the garage, it couldn’t handle the cold and needed bigger grow lamps, I wouldn’t try growing a mango tree unless you’re at least in zone 10

I did the paper towel because it seemed to trap moisture just as well, whats the benefit of plastic wrap?

No offense, but your wife needs to learn to get the flesh out of mangoes. She's leaving a lot of the fruit on the skin.
