Now. I was watching your channel and it’s true, I have zero interest in dressing like the average guy 😝 but I love men’s fashion! Men’s fashion really informs a lot of the clothes I wear (I love English tailoring!) and I loved every second of this video! SUBSCRIBED and I can’t wait to see what you bring us next!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed my perspective and I look forward to bringing many more videos to my subscribers! I will give you a clue of what’s coming soon… I’ll be talking about wearing classic style without feeling too ‘stuffy’ or ‘formal’ around others!
gringa! the world of watches and menswear collide!! been wearing classic neo and english cut suits daily for a few months now. i get compliments, especially from older ladies lol. never fails to go with a nice watch as well!
I really enjoy your videos. I am a 66 year old man. I have always been the shirt & tie kind of guy. you have good advice even for somebody my age. Keep up the good work.
It’s interesting to compare your videos of today with this one from nearly a year ago. You’ve since become such a more confident presenter, though you were still great from the start
Dress up, but in a casual, nonchalant way .. and yes, polyester dominant pieces are usually not constructed as well, don't drape as well, and harder to alter, than a natural fabric garment.
Although we are generations apart, I am a younger Baby Boomer, I think that you are spot on with many of your thoughts. We share the thought on the real meaning of sprezzatura, it is not leaving your cuffs undone or wearing your watch on the outside of your shirt sleeve, it is being 100% comfortable and natural in your clothing.
I would suggest that the meaning of Sprezzatura is “effortless style”. For example, we’d say that someone who looks very stylish, but at the same time gives the impression that his outfit came together will little conscious thought, almost unintentionally, has Sprezzatura. (Although in reality he may have put a lot of effort into his appearance).
Another good video.. Since you asked, I'd like to see you do one of these on choosing a sport coat.. sport coat vs blazer.. and pocket square with each if applicable.. Thanks!
Sprezzatura has been ruined by dandies and modern fops. It's basically the concept that this isn't the first time you're wearing the outfit, or even the hundredth. That's it. Does it look like he put it together for this event? Sprezza test FAILED. It's meant to be anti-artifice.
I completely agree with your view on popular interpretations of Sprezzatura. For this reason, I think it is better to own fewer clothes that you feel very comfortable and relaxed while wearing than own a million items that you’ve never mix and matched before.
I enjoyed your video and agree with you on wearing belts. My paints all have bottoms for braces. I would add wear braces you have buttons for them. No clip on, which makes you look like a schoolboy.
Mr. Gent Z, Loved you video! And sperzzaturs is so misunderstood. I'm a 67-year-old guy living in New Jersey. And when I dress is better then the tribe, they look at me suspiciously (originally from New York City). LOL. I'm getting into the old money look, you should do a video on that.
Thank you, Sir! Haha, I would love to know what your go-to look is when you’re dressing up? I think there is a lot of crossover with the old money look and sprezzatura, so that’s definitely a topic I could address! There are so many UA-cam videos out there already on old money, so I would like to discuss elements to the style that remain unexplored.
love those gurka pants, just haven't seen them irl anywhere yet. but leaving your cuffs unbuttoned... not sure about that because it really creates that "got home from work will undress soon" look. it certainly is casual but i wouldn't pull it off in any remotely formal or business related setting
Although not labelled as gurkas, you can order them online from Proper Cloth by customizing the pants to drop the belt loops and add side tabs. I agree the unbuttoned cuffs look a little strange. If I saw someone wearing their cuffs undone, I would probably think they forgot to button them, lol.
Pro tip...when tailoring a suit or trousers that need hemming, have your tailor use the excess fabric to make side tabs and have the belt loops removed.
Interesting tip, Geoffrey! I would say you must choose a skilled tailor to do this well, as I'm sure you do. That's a great idea if you are a fan of this look.
A person that asks "why are you not wearing a belt?" and does not see that there are no belt loops, says alot about their knowledge of style and sartorialism. The side adjusters are, in many cases, a tell that the slacks are custom. It reminds me of how some men wear a blazer or suit jacket with the brand logo still on the cuff.
Where do you live? The reason why I asked is because you said. ( I live in a country o city where the whether is very hot. ) but to me your accent doesn’t match with a hot whether 🤷🏻. Another question I have is when is the right time or the right place or occasion to where shoes whit no socks? And I love to talk to you over the phone or whatever is convenient to you. Love your program is very updated or realistic for the time that we are leaving now 👍🏻
It’s for this reason I particularly discourage the wearing of designer belts with large, gaudy logo buckles. If you’re going to wear a belt though, there are plenty of sophisticated options out there.
I've been interested in classic men's styling for the best part of three decades now, and I thought the tone of this video was remarkably pretentious and condescending. Also, Sprezzatura is so overdone, such an act of vanity.
This was one of his earlier videos. To me, it strikes me as a young man trying to find his footing on UA-cam and still learning about the things he’s talking about. You seemed to have a much more negative reaction than I did I guess
i only clicked because the thumbnail had a dude wearing a braided belt folded through and hung down... i haven't seen that since middle school in the 90z

Exactly 💯
Spazzatura is for rock stars, dandies and eccentrics.Sometimes you can go out of rules for the party.
I enjoyed your video and agree with you on wearing belts. My paints all have bottoms for braces. I would add wear braces you have buttons for them. No clip on, which makes you look like a schoolboy.
Thanks Walter. That’s a good detail about the braces, worth mentioning indeed.

Detective Columbo...King of sprezzatura!
Can we have a video on different types of loafers and how to wear them?
brocade, leather, velvet, rarely silk or maybe satin, then consider toe shape options and embroidery
Sounds like a good idea, Isaac. Thank you for the suggestion!
You should add a silk-wool blend as a fabric for suits - some of my best-looking suits were this blend

Where in Britain can Gurkha trousers be purchased? I am struggling to find high waisted and pleated trousers in the menswear shops.

I'm also curious.
He mentioned in another video that he lives in Chicago.
@@downingbethune8758 And LA before Chicago, iirc.
Many times in stead of wearing a leather belt, I use a silk tie to secure my trousers.
Thank you kindly for the video.
🙏
Men wear a belt to attract attention to their nethers. It becomes a competition. Especially the millionaire set in London. Like the modern codpiece.

Still better than the casual hillbilly look so much of society has made their default look.
I would agree with you there!@@EduardoCao
