I can't remember a time when she wasn't Queen and I'm 70 years old.
Wow!
And on this day my mother in law at age 100 passes away. She also was a Queen to me. I will miss her wisdom and her presence so very much. 🤍

100 years is more life than 99.9% of the humans that have ever lived have managed to see. Your mother-in-law was blessed. Be grateful.

70 years ago, yesterday, it was the last time Great Britain saw a King- King George VI (12/14/1895 - 2/6/1952).
I was lucky enough to stay in Tree Tops naturalist site in Kenya where she recieved the news
Doing Family History and just found out that in the Bowes Lyon Line of my Family the Queen turns out to be my 10th Cousin Once Removed... Congratulation on the 70 Years of Your Reign

It is insane that she was planning to be away from her children, toddlers at the time, for five months. No judgement, times were just different back then.

In 1952, she would have been Queen of the various places that were still British colonies (predominantly in Africa), as well as Queen of those countries that then and subsequently had "dominion" status before becoming republics. My personal favorites of her past titles are Queen of Pakistan, Queen of Ceylon, and Queen of Hong Kong.
Most recently this past November, Barbados transitioned from a Commonwealth Realm to a Commonwealth Republic. Thus Elizabeth lost another one of her titles.

We fought two wars so this country would not be under the reign of a monarch and that its government has Separation of Powers and that it has a codified constitution. Watching a television segment about a monarch does not deter us from those things. You've also forgotten that the United Kingdom has been our ally in two wars in the last century.

I always thought that the Royal family was such a waste of tax payers dollars...these people have lived luxurious lifestyles for hundreds of years from the sweat of there loyal subjects....what a sin and a shame for these people to live the way they do...and nowadays they are just a tabloid afterthought....

America, an alleged democracy, romanticizing colonization is quite weird.
No one is romanticizing colonization. Monarchy as an institution is not synonymous with colonization. Technically, Britain colonized more under a democratically elected Parliament rather than by the hand of its Monarchs. She & the Monarchy has done more for the world & “democracy” than most all of us ever will.
