If you look at the lyrics, it’s an anti drug song. The drugs are the master that is ruining your life. Listen to the song and pay attention to the lyrics again with that in mind. It makes total and complete sense. Metallica is much deeper than most think. Their anti war songs, their anti drug songs, all great stuff.

Nobody has written a Metal song about The Exodus (from the Bible) or PTSD from being blown the hell up....or even Ernest Hemingway and the Spanish Civil War. These guys are definitely not Thrash Metal. Their musical talent shows them to be on a different level entirely. The Thrash Metal name is misused on these guys....a lot.

Now I am losing them to Heroin. This is one of the best anti drug songs ever written. To bad they aren't hearing the message. These drugs literally become the master of your life. @@copaxan Dude, how about you shut the fuck up! It's been two years since that video was posted and I commented on it and he seems to be living his life just fine and dancing his ass off. All I did was offer my opinion, he has every right in the world to heed it or ignore it. Since he didn't reply or change his ways I am assuming he ignored my suggestion which is exactly what you should do. If you see something you don't like, ignore it and move on. Life is less stressful if you don't let everything piss you off.
Definitely about drug addiction. The lyrics are quite obvious, and this is why I'm a lyricist. I actually pay attention to lyrics, metaphors and meanings. It's a lot more than screaming and instrument playing.

Well, as Gary Holt has finished touring with Slayer- and is writing songs for a new Exodus album- I wanted to request some Exodus. Small problem though- Just as a hip hop fan may have been sharing some fire ass NWA shit with a metalhead- like " findum, fuckem and flee" or " To kill a hooker/ one less bitch", to switch to Mc Ren " bring it on" or " the villian in black" might be to extreme of a change over for a rookie. I think Metallica's " Am I evil" ( not diamondhead's..actually it is fire too ) is a nice choice. The studio version.
