AC/DC is a blue collar band. They were not fake. What you saw was what you got! Simple is the best!
They have never changed their style in 45 years. And they are still the biggest selling rock band of all time.
zzeus43 You said it mate! Malcom Young was my hero with that huge guitar he called "the beast", but I was floored to find out they play absolutely clean. No distortion, few Barre chords, etc. They just plugged straight into Marshall amps and let it rip. Actually read when Malcom laid down the rhythm in the recordings, he used a very small amp barely turned up. The production makes it sound like it's roaring. AC/DC is the perfect example of a straight up, no frills rock n roll band
@@Order-pu5ub Damn right, Malcolm was probably one the greatest rhythm guitarists of all time. I do have a couple of points though. The guitar, modified a Gretsch Jet G6131MY, isn't "huge", it's a perfectly normal sized guitar (I have a Jet), it's just that Malcolm was absolutely tiny. Also, in the world of guitars, very few actually have names, like Eric Clapton's "Blackie" Stratocaster or Peter Green's (then Gary Moore's and, currently Kirk Hammett's) "Greeny" Les Paul, and, although, Malcolm did refer to his guitar as the the Beast that name was already taken, it belongs to a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard, owned and played by Bernie Marsden. Sorry to be a pedantic pain in the arse.
@Gordon Mansell Nope, I agree with everything you said. Most I already knew... Like it being a Gretsch etc and Malcom being so small. I was kinda trying to keep it simple for Justin. Malcom was my inspiration. I play, and I play rhythm. I went with a LP n Vox but it's good! God bless his beloved soul. One of the greatest pure rock song writers of all time and the playing... OMG! Who can lay down such punishing rhythm guitar with that tone? It's like having an extra member of the rhythm section. His timing is impeccable. Angus stole the show, and while he's certainly a phenom in his own right, Malcolm will be remembered in history as the "AC/DC sound". Love it. Thanks so much man! \m/
Keep rockin!!
(Edit... Would you say the Jet is as big as a Gibson ES 335 or bigger/smaller? Trying to get an idea in my head. Love big wide necks and big heavy guitars lol) Even tho the 335 is a hollow body. Just talking Sq area not weight
@@Order-pu5ub Absolutely, that sound is all Malcolm, even if Angus got all the headlines. The Jet is slightly bigger than a Les Paul but is smaller than a 335, I've got a Gibson DG 335 (how many guitars do I need? Just one more! lol) and it's bigger, but probably not heavier, although 335s aren't proper hollow bodies, they are semi-hollow - there is a large chunk of wood right through the centre of the body. My heaviest guitar is probably an R9 Les Paul, around 11 lbs in weight, and that has a big fat 1959 neck.
The genius about these guys was the simplicity in the music, then the writing. Love it
One of the greatest if not the greatest lead singer replacements ever. Bon Scott was amazing and it’s too bad he had to die so young. It couldn’t have gone any better for AC/DC to find Brian Johnson to take the lead role.
As soon as they ran out of Bon Scott's songs they became average.
Yes sir!! Angus will destroy a guitar solo!!! Angus, HE'S THE REAL DEAL!! They are awesome in concert!!! This is what all of us old heads grew up on and still today, I will say, THEY ARE UNTOUCHABLE!!! AC⚡DC!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
50 YEARS MY FRIEND . after 50 years theyre still one of the top bands playing today . im 56 . so ive been blessed to be able to follow AC/DC through there whole career
Naw, they were just that badass!! You NEED to react to Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. You'll LOVE that one!!! When we jam to this do does the neighborhood 😁🤷♀️🤷♀️
The ONly way to listen to AC/DC!
"Dirty deeds done with sheep..."
@@ramonaljensen Crank it up to 11 and pull the knob off!
This was 1980’s. Hell yes I had to listen to this on the sly! Mom hated music and dad listened to cowboy shit. This whole album was a tribute to Bon Scott. They still go this hard!!! Try out Whole Lotta Rosie live. Now.
only one other hard rock album that could stand up to Back in Black album by AC/DC in 1980,and that was Ace of Spades by Motorhead..i had them both in 1980 (i was 15 years old.)
@@MegaJan4u 80' was a great year for heavy music. Blizzard of Oz?
Axel as their new lead singer is a joke he can't sing none of them sounds good you don't got that voice
Now though women and girls lead the narrative world and music that is made by men talking about sex from a masculine consumer attitude is shamed and hardly ever made anymore. Rock is a dead genre in the 21st century. All the good stuff was made back in the 60's to the 80's. Cowboys were at least men and so was Rock and Roll in the 80's.
But now we are women run, so no more freedom of behavior/personality for men anymore. Even Alice Cooper is a knuckledragging ally second to his wife now, no spirit of his single male individual male sexual self at all anymore to relate to young men with. If you don't post you kids pics to instagram that you had with your head of house wife who has a bigger career than you then you aren't woke modern male in step with the times. Women hate passionate "uncivilized" male sexuality now and treat all male energy as toxic unless it's woman lead.
That's EXACTLY what it was like at my house. My mom hated music, too. I thought I was the only person in the world who had a mother(or knew anybody that didn't like SOME kind of music). And my dad liked Marty Robbins, and Eddy Arnold and crap like that. I listened to AC/DC through headphones b/c I didn't want to hear the $hitstorm if they had heard Hells Bells, or ANY hard rock songs for that matter.
My favorite Guitar riff at the beginning. Just love it. Memories flooding in. We had so much fun seeing these guys back in the late 70's. I still jam to these guys. How lucky we were.
there was no band and still is no band tighter than AC/DC. they are just as good live
William Finney Preach on brother, Preach on...
Chris Smallwood. try there flick of the switch video where they just jam in a rehearsel video
I've actually seen it. You're 100% right. I'm the biggest Malcolm fan. That Gretsch put out some of the most simple, but tight riffs EVER. Then you have Cliff and Phil. What a rhythm section! I've seen em live 4 times and every show they left everything they had on that stage. Ppl say "it's simple 3 chord blues rock. What's the biggie?" EXACTLY what you said. Everything was like a machine. Impeccable timing. I could go on all day. There seems to be a movement w/ the youth, I see them wearing AC/DC tees and Idk if they're tryin to be hip or what but I hope it's because they discovered the timeless music of this band. Sorry man, too much caffeine lol. Thanks and keep rockin! \m/
yeah my very first concert was ac/dc fly on the wall tour in 85 my first ablum was back in black vinyl lp
William Finney That we have in common... Back in Black was the first album I ever bought with my own $. What an album to start with! I remember my first cassette. Shout at the Devil ~ Crue. Probably around 82. Rock on mate! It was a pleasure speaking with you. Cheers!
(Edit.... Yes I know most of the Crue is pure shit lol but I was young and seein Nikki playin bass on fire excited me)
My parents left me alone as long as I had my headphones on. Rocked the shit out of AC/DC on the regular.
My mother preferred me not wearing headphones because she loves them too.She wants Back in Black on record for Christmas (or her 75th birthday)
Justin, damn man. I've LOVED watching you get deeper into rock and metal, little by little. Thank you showing that. You're making we old farts that have listened to this stuff since it came out re-appreciate it all over again like it's new. Keep it up brother.
What a beautiful comment. I could not have said better Rowdy. Talk about hitting the nail on the head.
Mate I used to go and see AC/DC play in pubs in Melbourne Australia back in the day before they went global. Still a fan.
See how that song builds. As they bring in each instrument. FUCKING HELLS-BELLS HELL YEAH!
Just 100% straight up Rock & Roll Justin , that's it 👏👏👏👏👏👏
300%
Hells Bells an Australian expression meaning my patience just run out and your gonna get a whipping! Remember my old man saying 'Hells bells boy'! ..and then me running!
The concept of hell during the late 70's and early 80s was simply a gimmick with a number of bands.
Saw them play live with both singers. Angus was the main attraction with the schoolboy act and more importantly, his ability to shred!
Love. This. Band.
I think I'm blessed to have grown up in an era when bands actually played instruments. AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath etc, not only was it about the music but the live stage shows, awesome stuff.
WHAT'S UP GUYS!!
CHECK OUT MY REACTION TO AC/DC - HIGHWAY TO HELL‼️🤣😂😭
ua-cam.com/video/KEN5XhMY550/v-deo.html
my generation was AWESOME, i been to no less than 3 ACDC concerts, 2 in Shreveport and 1 in Dallas from deep into the 70s thru to the early 90's and it was crazy
Back in Black. Whole lotta Rosie. For Those About To Rock. Great songs by AC/DC
@ethel littleage Wow! I hadn't thought about Whole Lotta Rosie in years!! Gonna have to pull that one up!!!
That’s just who they were , they r so good , no one gave a damn , & still don’t 🤘🏼🤘🏼🔥
Man! When I watch you checking out these old tunes. It gets me pumped up again. Thanks!
Unfortunately, AC/DC pretty much got blamed for created the 'Night Stalker' serial killer Richard Ramirez back in the 1980s. They found an AC/DC hat at one of the crime scenes and he was an avid fan of their music. Sure, they talk about Hell, Satan, blah, blah - they're just a hard rock band and one of the best of all time, at that. I met Brian Johnson once and there isn't a nicer guy on the planet. They're certainly not infatuated with Hell, Satan and all of that.
Judas Priest also got blamed for the2 teenage boys who commited suicode, well one did, the other suffered a workd of pain after he shot himself in the face. The family tried to sue the band for damages as they said their music had sublimial messages in it, like that was resposable for their actions. There'll always be messages you can fit with with listening to music backwards. Also the survivor ended up suceeding om his suicide attempt.
No matter what year these guys always put on the best show ever I hope I see them live if they tour with an upcoming album
This song was a tribute to Bon Scott, AC-DC's singer before Brian Johnson. Bon Scott was the singer on Highway To Hell who died right before they were preparing to record this album. Johnson literally joined at the last minute to record Back in Black album which has gone on to sell 25 million units since 1980.
Check out AC/DC- Let There Be Rock (From Plug Me In). It's from the 70's with Bon Scott as the lead singer. He has passed and Brian Johnson took over as singer for their Back in Black album take came out in 1980 and was dedicated to Bon.
I love the raw Baby please don't go rendition..
ua-cam.com/video/3f2g4RMfhS0/v-deo.html This is the version that I like to listen too, LOUD!!!
I much prefer Brian's voice to the first lead singer.
Bon Scott was to AC/DC as Peter Gabriel was to Genesis. Both were the heart of these great bands, in fact, Bon Scott referred to himself as being the flash between AC/DC. RIP Bon!
Shoot to Thrill is my favorite AC/DC song, and it's from the same album (Back in Black).
Ceciel Scott From all of the concerts & concert videos I’ve seen, Shoot To Thrill definitely seems to be one of Malcolm’s favorite songs...
This song comes from their 1980 album "Back In Black" 1 year prior to this album their original singer Bonn Scott passed away, this is why they named it back in black. They're back, but in black. The song was written during a storm, "Coming on like a hurricane" " White lightning flashing across the sky"
I saw them play first time in NYC at a small bar when I was 17:))) AWESOME I knew they were special the minute I saw them.
Another GREAT AC/DC song...
.......'MONEY TALKS'......
I just subscribed to ur channel.
This was their tribute to their original singer who died a few months before, hence the bells at the beginning of the song as well as the completely black album cover. It was their tribute and send off to their singer and friend, Bon Scott.
The first time I ever heard this was on the school bus. A kid popped AC/DC in and this song started. Holy shit!!! That school bus exploded. Kids started freaking out telling him to turn that devil music off. Even the bus driver went off. He told the kid to turn it off or get off the bus. I'll never forget that.
Ok I was like 22 when acdc came out. I loved them saw them 5 times in concert wow they rocked it.. I would play there albums at on on killer sound system my to kids and me would rock it in the living room. My kids loved them to and still do. Fabulous in concert.
Just plain good rock n roll done right.
When i saw ac dc live Brian rode the bell down to the stage. Was very entertaining.
Poor Brian, big ol church bell is the only instrument he plays - lol
Well that and his crazy singing voice
just rock at its best. lots of people look for "meanings" to songs but most of the good ones just make you get up and move
"Ride On" - AC/DC
Ha! No problem. The Rolling Stones rocked my crib. Thanks Mom!
Pure gold of AC/DC song
Thunderstruck, drink everytime you hear thunder. Great to do as a drinking game too!
This song was the opening song on their first album with a new singer as their former singer, the one on Highway To Hell had just recently died. They were in mourning over his death and wanted to pay their respects with a serious and dark sounding song. The album opens with those church bells and that powerful yet sad sounding guitar by itself , then the rest of the band slowly joins in and it turns into song so powerful it could stop a charging rhino in its tracks. It was in dedication to his memory, The unforgettable Ronald Bon Scott.
Oh it was definitely forbidden at my house!! But I had the cassette tapes. 😁
mmm i wanna be forbidden in your house but appear as a very sexual cassette tape..
Jacob Goldberg Haha. 😂
My mom blasted this when I was a baby. It was encouraged.
Angus a master guitar genius.
I absolutely love your reaction lol... ac/dc was hard driving with vocals that were different from most, that's what sold these guys...hell came later..one van load at a time...♡
AC/DC the gods of Rock n roll!!
I'm 49 and have listened to AC/DC for a very long time. I don't think they were trying to piss anyone off, or trying to appease anyone either. The bell was an homage to Bon Scott, their lead singer who died earlier that year. Nothing satanic about them at all. Just balls out rock. They did what they wanted and didn't listen to anyone.
Yeah, the whole point of this song is that it's Bon Scott's requiem mass.
Every reaction you say something that cracks me the hell up. 😂😂
It was written(in memory) for the original singer,Bon Scott, who died of acute alcohol poisoning on February 29,1980.He was found dead in a car parked on a street in London. His official cause of death is classified as (death by misadventure)They even had a real bell poured with the bands logo on it.
My parents were listening to country music in the 70's. AC DC was the reason i bought my first car stereo...lol Rockford Fosgate Punch amp with Alpine speakers and cassette deck. Good ole cassettes...lol...but it rock the shit out of my first car....72 Pinto station wagon....hahahaha I paid the same amount for the amp as i did the car...lol
"Hell's bells" was sometimes used as an expression, like "Holy Cow" or WTF. This song is from the first album with Brian Johnson as lead singer, called Back in Black. It was so named because the original singer, Bonn Scott, died. So Hell's Bells could also be a sort of recognition of Bonn's death. You might want to check out some of the older stuff with Bonn to compare.
AC/DC said that Hell’s Bells was they’re tribute to Bonn Scott
@@KKowalski1022 Actually the whole album was, hence the album being done in all black as well as the title of the album and title track song Back in Black. A well done tribute to Bon indeed!
I saw them in concert on Halloween night in Lubbock Texas. They cracked the dome of the coliseum during for those about to rock. It was a great show.
Hell's Bells is part of a phrase used back in the late 19th and early 20th century. Some think it came from sailors back then, when they would end up in a bad situation, saying death is coming for them. AC/DC is not, nor hae they ever been satanic. They just liked to use dark themes at times to paint a picture. hey also used it because it was not the norm for that time, for a little shock value.
Well said. I've been a fan of AC/DC since the early 1980's. Greatest band in the world, by my thinking. My only disappointment with them, though, has been the lyrics to a few of their songs (out of their large library of music), as well as their use of devil horns during their shows, as those who do not know them can misconstrue them as being satanic, rather than just mischievous and playful, and be led astray as a result.
you had me at "BLACK AMERICAN ....."
You got my subscription 🙂
Heheh had moved outta home by vhe time this was released. Livin' on the Gold Coast back then 'Black in Black album was a party fave
Angus the guitar player Never stops moving during the whole concert , incredible band 🔥🔥
Great reaction, love how it gives you that stank-face almost right away haha. Got a recommendation 'Quiet Riot - Metal Health (Bang Your Head)', another old-school classic!
Metal Health is what truly kicked my metal love into full gear. Good call.
That was the first music record I chose for myself. I got the 45 and had no idea what it was just that i liked the colors on the sleeve.
My dad asked a few times if I was sure and 6 yo me said yes! LOL I was lucky when we got it home that I did actually like it a lot.
@@S_H9260 Haha that's an amazing backstory to how you got introduced to them :D
Sometimes you just run across something that you know you're gonna like, I'm that way with movie posters somehow, if I like the poster I'm probably gonna like the movie.
The anticipation when this song began...the crowd on a humid September evening going nuts as the smoke shot out from the home section of the sacred grounds of the Orange Bowl. Unparalleled.
My favorite AC/DC song
Anybody who lives in America and says that they haven't heard AC/DC on the radio is either deaf or not paying attention to the rock radio station that they are listening too. When I was visiting from Australia in 2017, I drove from Los Angeles to New Orleans and return, it seemed like every 6th or 7th song was an AC/DC song on the radio.
Your observation as a teenager growing up in the 70’s is spot on!!!!! As a teenager I had to listen to acdc in my room with head phones on!!!!! It was the only way!!🤣🤣 My parents had no clue what I was listening too!!!👍
Your rock reactions made me Sub!
Try big balls by AC/DC, and prepare for demonitization.
de-monitization, or demon-itization?
@@scottstewart5784 . Both 😂😈
Well if don't play the bells backwards then your okay xD
OMG!!!
This song is directly referencing Highway to Hell. Highway was about a dangerous road trip through the middle of the Outback to get to a bar and meet some buddies. This one is basically about Bon waving at us from a barstool beyond. As a wise man once said "There's no such thing as bad publicity". AC/DC rode every scrap of notoriety given to them.
Now you need to do some old school AC/DC with Bon Scott as the lead singer. It’s insane that one band had TWO insanely unique bad ass lead singers.
Hell's Bell's was written for the late Bon Scott the first Lead singer of AC/DC. and helped AC/DC carry on after Bons Death
Just great music. Don't down it. Sold millions of records. No sissy voice modulation. Pure talent
Preach Martin!!!!!!!!
Rowdy Grunt hell yeah. Its the kind of music that pumps you up and makes you want to run through a field and punch a horse or something!

I love when hiphop heads listen to this..dude had bars
I was already out of school and out of Mama's house by the time AC/DC hit the charts, so when I listened to them, so did everybody else. Nobody seemed to mind...Go back to the start of AC/DC and give a listen to It's A Long Way To The Top, their first big hit.
I was in Jr High, and there was always someone walking around with a boombox playing AC/DC
Back in 1980 but living off the reminisce of the 70’s. some strange days back then for me but I made it thru. Before their was Brian their bon Scott. British boys and loved angus in that Britain school outfit
The song tells everyone to be on the look out against Satin! Says Satin is looking for you!
So this was recorded after the original lead singer, Bon Scott, died. They were dealing with mourning the loss of their close friend and dealing with the reality of trying to find a replacement vocalist while folks were talking smack about the band being dead and never coming back. Personally, I think that this album was both a memorial to their friend and a big FU to the folks that were spreading rumors about the band being dead and gone. Notice how much energy they put into it....it was a middle finger in the air kind of album. Personally, I don't have a preference between the two lead singers, but appreciate that both had mad skills in different ways. Check out "Night Prowler", "It's a Long Way To The Top" and "Have A Drink on Me".
Keep the train going.....Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, TNT, Long Way to the Top, For those about to rock, et. Dude, the vein runs deep, keep mining!
There's no hell! Energy don't die.
Them boyz be going HARD!
grew up with A.C.D.C. since the 80s
One of my favorite songs yrs ago when I was in hs
Grew up on AC\DC.....#1 fan
Hey brother. Don't matter black or white or any other race. Acdc brings everyone together. Best band in rock there has ever been. Just great music. That's all we need.
Listened to this album for the first time just after it debuted...on my best friends quartz drive Teac turntable....we were blown away by Brian Johnson...since Bon Scott the original lead singer had died.
My dad took me to see them when i was 8. It kicked ass. It was the Back in Black tour. Just after the death of Bob Scot.
My dad introduced me to ac/DC, Led Zeppelin , pink Floyd, deep purple and shit like that so I can blast anything I want lol.
AC/DC is one of the GROOVIEST Rock bands ever
I was at the Back in Black concert and i was so drunk and high, this is the only song i could remember the next day !
This is the first appearance of lead singer Brian Jonhson after Bon Scott died, drowned in his own vomit while asleep (Alcoholic). this album came out in the 1980s. Bon Scott was the original front man in the mid to late 1970s also legendary.
the best thing about this band is they are the only or one of the few that what you hear on the album is what you hear live. they write and perform their song for their albums as if they are on stage , so you hear live exactly what you hear on their albums.
Just hard rock n roll .
I took my youngest son at the age of 80 cacdc the first time he's 25 now and he still rocks
Angus on lead guitar, Malcom on rhythm! Malcom died of dementia RIH Angus still rocking! This is the real deal!
someone once said..."rosie in bed, crabsody in blue, when i listen to AC/DC, my neighbors do too. please find a way to react to anything on "flick of the switch"!!!!!
It was actually dedicated to the first singer who died before this one. Hence hell's bells referencing the last song they did "highway to hell"
AC DC were an amazing band
This was, “ piss your parents off “ music, lol ! Trust me, I was 15 when this came out, and I was a professional at getting a rise out of my parents ! Religious parents did freak out, because he’ll was said though. As far as shock value, there’s basically three types of musicians. Purely musicians, performers, and performance musicians. The last is the best by far ! These are musicians that must be seen, and heard to get the full effect ! Keep on, your doing fine son !
Indeed, if one has never seen live one of their concerts, they will never know the full effect of their performance. Maybe we will be lucky to see them one more time live after their reported new album that should be coming out. As for me, I've seen them many times, I think 6 now and hoping for at least 7 now.
@@bige1106 yeah. I saw them once. I can’t remember the year but it was the,......uh.........oh yeah, who made who tour. I hate stadium concerts. I was a musician from 79-2000. I started playing large venues by 80, and learned quick from other older musicians and experience, stick to the clubs. Once you separate from your audience, so much is lost, and it’s no longer fun, but a job.
Back in black is a song they started with Bon Scott who died February 1980. AC DC found a new singer (Brian Johnson), made and released Back in black in July of 1980. Just 6 months after Bon died. An amazing tribute.
I remember when this came out and there was a guy in town that had a big black muddin' truck that had "Back in Black" on the tailgate. It was the epitome of cool back then.
Hell when i was in 8 grade when this record came out.I has a pretty bad ass system at that time..It was a FISHER system with 4 sets of speakers that came with it.It was given to me by my uncle. My Parents was those cool type that allowed me alot of freedom and I cranked this album up Everyday for a long time. They never said to me turn it down...NEVER....I was a lucky kid and pretty much be lucky my whole life. Thanks to god of course...New Sub bro....Peace.
Kids at ABA BMX races early 80s cranked up full blast
justin , you can play any of ac/dc songs and you wont find no love songs , no he/she done me wrong , no downer songs , theyre all good ole rock n roll feel good music , . with theyre blues based music they appeal to a huge range of ppl , while meantime they hammer out hard rock music . never been or will be a band like them , glad you found real rock bro .
