Glad i looked up daily co wash bc everyone telling me its bad to "wash" my hair! But my hair growing and is more defined and untangled unlike the people telling me im worng🙄.
Otmarah Kortram I'm glad I looked this information up as well because I would like my hair to be hydrated from within , moisturized and soft. When I use water only I retain some length I'm curious what will happen with this method.
I know this comment is 2 years old but I feel the same way. They say stay out of your hair. I co-wash daily because I just embarked on a workout journey. My hair is retaining way more moisture (low porosity), less frizzy, and the most defined it has ever been(4a and 4b). I didn't know I had definition but I know now thanks to 2 weeks of co-washing in 2 weeks my hair changed for the better.
Think its because co washing isn't shampooing or using shampoo with sulfates that strip your hair of its natural oils. I wet my hair everyday and have faster hair growth than I use to.
@@MsCDante You still wash your hair with shampoo. But like once or twice a week. More than anything your taking out a lot of products off your strands co washing daily. I hated it till I wrapped my hair in a towel and dried it that way. I have it on till I’m done with lotion up and doing my makeup. By the end it’s like 60% dry. I already have all my products in too. Plus I can use that quater amount they talk about on the bottles. The water does most of the work.
2 points. You are retaining all of your length because your hair is constantly moisturized with the number moisturizer, WATER. And secondly, you are removing the shed hairs so that they don't get caught with the rest of your hair. I did this for three months and I retained so much of my hair. I took a before and after and was so pleased
I rinse my hair daily when I take a bath/shower. I grew up with that habit. I don't need to use a moisturiser just seal the ends with a tiny bit of oil. The hair is at my waist now after trims.
I always co wash my hair every time I take a shower, honestly didn't know that anyone else did it because I never hear anyone talk about it so I'm glad I ran across this video!!
Me too.....I just can't go more than 2 days without wetting and conditioning it. It will be so DRY if I don't !!!I use shampoo maybe once or twice a week.
Ever since I started co washing everyday my hair has been so moisturized and hydrated feels a lot more healthy I’m glad I started co washing everyday and I use shampoo and deep conditioner treatment once a week and my curl pattern is more defined
I'm starting to do the same thing. Co-wash everytime I shower and every problematic thing I had with my hair that I was trying to fix just went away. I'm very pleased with my hair in the 2 weeks I've been doing this. I shampoo now once a week and DC. I'm shocked at my hair right about now.
I co wash my hair everyday in the shower with conditioner and a mixture of oils with cold water. I use shampoo, conditioner and oil every two to three days . Since, I have been doing this my hair has grown down my back. It is also, more manageable. When I was younger I was taught to wash my hair every two weeks. For me my hair wouldn't grow. Or, it was growing but the ends were breaking off more. My hair felt dirty and yucky. So, I decided to go against what I was taught and start co washing everyday and wash with shampoo every 2 to three days. For me this works. I feel that when there is less buildup on my scalp and my scalp is clean my hair grows better.
I spent part of my childhood in Africa and we washed our hair everytime we showered, just shampoo, no conditioner, just oiled it afterwards, everyone did it. Had no issues with dryness or growth.
Interesting! I’ve wondered how people from Africa handle hair care, and where the whole myth that black people cant wash their hair daily came from. So I guess not from the motherland lol
No lie.. I tried this for a straight two weeks to see what would happen. I have type 4b/4c hair. So.. I decided to throw in deep conditioning every 3 days on top of cowashing. I usually switch between a protein and a moisturizing conditioner depending on how my hair feels. So far.. I noticed minimum shedding,my heat damage is looking healthier, less split ends, no fairy knots, hair growing faster. So.. I finally found a way to keep it moisturized and grow healthy and not look soo..lifeless. of course. But i think I'll use a sulfate free shampoo once or twice a month to get rid of any buildup.
I have been doing this for 6 months. Every 3 days cowash or clay cleanses and deep condition and twist my hair is so healthy. I also wash my hair once a month with a clarity shampoo.
Even just watering the hair/scalp will cause continued hair growth. You can simplify by just spraying your hair with water/olive oil mix. Doing this has actually grown my hair in the back and very front hairline where I was previously having growth issues. The hair and scalp are just thirsty. Lol
I've been cowashing/deep conditioning every 3 to 4 days and my hair is so soft, less shedding, my ends are soft. No single strand knots at all! I still shampoo once a month. I'm so mad I didn't do this years ago 🤦♀️
I co wash every day to every other day when I braid my hair (without synthetic hair) and my hair grows like a weeds. it's one method I use when I want to concentrate on growing it out.
I think the co washing everyday or more times in the week just reduces breakage and manageability because your detangling more, instead of one big detangling period.and mosturizing more. i think i would start this not eveyday but twice a week.
I co wash my hair everyday, and I love it too!!! I've been doing it for 2 years now, and I've been seeing some amazing results of softness, good health, growth, and shine!!! I am going to continue to co wash my hair for life. I've also notice that it really moisturizes my hair very well but sometimes I do need to use a clarifying shampoo. Or, a shampoo with sulfates in it so cleanse away all of the product build up. But other than that I love co washing!!!!!
That's the beauty of natural hair, water is our friend. I'm lazy with my hair too. I wash once or twice a week and I spray it daily. I wear mine loose r in twist. My hair doesn't get tangled as much and it's grown a lot.
Sweetie water is your hairs friend no matter what. I bought into that natural water being your friend thing & yes I have done natural my hair is beautiful with a mix 2 and 3 beautiful curls. Then I went to been there done that my hair is still beautiful. I was at the mall and it was pouring down raining and I go to go out the door and as I approached it there were 5 natural hair girls looking out the door at the pouring rain I smiled and walked right out. Now for me this wasn't a natural or relaxed hair thing because with short long natural or relaxed it's always been it's just water.
I've noticed my hair is more manageable the more washes I add in the week. I wash on Saturday or Sunday and then I cowash and condition on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Low porosity struggles with water (absorbing and keeping it).
Desiree' Holloway I try my best to. On the weekend washes, I definitely do, but during the week, I'll add some D.C. to my hair, but leave it on for 10/15 minutes. I know I'll be adding leave-in and oil to my hair and getting a real deal treatment at the end of the week, so it doesn't bother me.
NaturallyNat90 yes the manageability of my hair has really improved I should have done this so long ago but daily moisture is definitely the key especially with low porosity hair
I am just starting this, washing my hair every other day. What I started noticing is manageability & moisture retention. Guess this is going to be my new regimen because my hair is very prone to dryness . Thanks ❤️
TheLadye2u Well I'm newly so natural I'll tell you this.... February will be one year natural I started from a very low cut. I just had my last trim of the year (trimmed every 3 months 1/4 in) and I've retained 5 inches all around in a year. So i retained all my growth besides what I trimmed
Hair can and does change, it can change porosity and even texture. I shaved my head almost bald, very low to the scalp last month. Now, I wash my hair everyday....it's easy because it's sooo short. I am getting so many compliments, that I am keeping it short for 1 year and then growing it out.
I use to wash my hair everyday when I was permed. Weird right? I would use mousse and scrunch it daily because I was raised around a lot of Hispanics and that’s how they did their hair. But my hair has always been extremely long so I was doing something right. Now that I’m a year natural, big chopped and everything, my hair is flourishing. I still wash it almost everyday still.
So recently I noticed that my transitioning hair has been super dry and breaking like crazy lately and it has a lot to do with me reducing the amount of times I cowash from 2-3 times a week to once so I'm back to my routine mainly because it genuinely helps with detangling and my hair is more moisturized.
Yea especially in my twa, and now short hair phase I’m conditioner only washing daily. Shampoo once a week still! Now that it’s winter, I’m trying a cowash at night, then air dry for a couple of hours, and then end the night with twists for a morning twist out (wish me luck!!!).
I’m texturized again after 5 years and my hair flourished with daily cowashing last time I texturized. I wear wigs and keep my hair in twists so no detangling or styling worries 👍🏽
I don't do a lot of styles so this sounds perfect for me! I started to up the amount I rinse my hair in the shower. I do it maybe every 3 days now and alternate between a protein treatment and deep conditioner weekly, so I definitely think this is something I'll do during summer and winter months. 6 months out if the year seems good
Update. I am jealous. My hair told me, it doesn't like Co-washes. :) I wash with any sulfate free shampoo (w/e is on sale--) 3x weekly. Tues, Thurs, & a sulfate free clarifying routine Saturdays.
mia alexander yes I hate that I think I have a mix tho idk if it's possible but different parts of my hair respond differently I might have low and high lol
I did this for over a year and shared it on my channel. I have a routine that allowed me to reach maximum hydration. I was able to go through last winter with a wash n go and I retained length. Then in Feb. of this year I stopped cuz I was away and couldn't do it every day. When I came home I started using rice water and had a protein overload set back. I'm back to this now. :). I'm planning to try the wash n go again this winter but saturate it every three days. I hope it works. Thanks for sharing.
Nice! I’ve co washed everyday in the past and it grew my edges back. I’ve started to do this again to start back my natural hair journey since ive been slacking BIG time. How I co wash is every night I just rinse my hair with water and detangle with my fingers. I then add my home made conditioner which can be leave in or not (oils vary per batch but normally avocado, coconut, tea tree, wild growth oil and Shea and mango butter.) I put enough to saturate my hair and give it that slip. Then I cover my hair with two plastic bags and my bonnet. Then in the morning I’ll wash my hair with water only again.. to get the excess oil out. ( some days I don’t wash in the a.m if I don’t leave the house and I’ll keep it in for a couple of days) then I retwist and put my hijab or wig on. I use a home made clay shampoo to wash my hair( it leaves my hair sooo soft and clean) so I may wash it every week depending on the oil build up! ❤️
I shampoo and condition my hair every morning. I do a wash and go. It’s not hard. I wash my scalp and detangld my hair with my fingers under warm water. After that, I apply conditioner and rinse with cool water. It feels sooooo good!!! Then I shower. When out the shower, I dab my hair with a towel and then apply leave in. Section my hair in 4 then add curling gel to those sections.. Not a lot!!!! And then I’m out!
Girl, that's what's up!🙌🏾 I don't believe in cowashing. I think it causes too much buildup and will eventually cause major problems but I do believe black women could and should try daily washing like you, with shampoo and conditioner. I just started myself and already on day 2 my hair is soooo soft and a breeze to detangle. That's not common for me. Here's a black scientist presenting the science on black haircare and why daily washing is highly recommended. It's very compelling. ua-cam.com/video/bDsNzlEeooQ/v-deo.htmlsi=7PYKC22a7Uyy7Giy
This is super helpful. I recently read an blog about Pinke Cube (the creator of the MHM) and she said that she used a technique similar to this prior to creating MHM. She said that by co-washing her hair daily and keeping a plastic cap on her hair everyday her hair reached maximum hydration. I am wondering if your hair has reached maximum hydration and that accounts for the differences you are noticing as to how your hair is absorbing water. Just a thought?! Anyhoo, thank you for sharing! I think I am going to try this technique this Spring/ Summer since I am protective styling right now.
Apryl-Joy I definitely think it's on its way I have seen a big difference especially on how my hair is absorbing water we are always told not to put water everyday but I think it works
I don’t like styling my hair often bc it take too long so I’ll co wash once a week then do the MHM treatment on the weekend. So my new routine I’ll start tomorrow will be co wash every Wednesday, MHM every Sunday. When I reach max hydration I’ll step up co washing more times per week. I notice the more hydrated my hair is the less time it takes to do, so co washing + style should be a breeze in a few months!
I just follow my scalp, when it gets a tad oily, I wash, not before that (so: weekly). I don't think it's necessary to wash every day and the mechanical wear and tear of handling it every day can't be that great. But to each his own! :D
Marleen G. I think it works so well because if you don't detangle and get that shed hair out its harder to do and you loose more hair if you only do it once a week. I have 3c 4a very coily/curly fine hair. The shed hair gets stuck easily
Marleen G. I follow my scalp too, which is why I need to wash more than once a week. My hair is happy with daily washing and grows much better when it stays moist. And I agree that the frequent detangling is much better for my hair since I have fine strands. Since I only do Dickey method wngs, I'm not doing any wear and tear. :) we are definitely all different. I also have mixed textures like the video poster.
I wear mini twist like they are locs i just started this soon as it got warm, its cool so far i mainly do it in the shower twice a day. I think i do it 2 to ease my hand in hair problem since im trying to grow over here honey so we gone make it wrk lol love....
Our hair texture is similar. I have low porosity hair to the 9th power. It takes forever for my hair to absorb water. The bottom portion is similar to yours. It is frizzy and just "different" than the rest of my hair. My hair also loves conditioner. I wash and deep condition once a week, but with the winter weather we're having in the D.C. area, I need to go back to washing and deep conditioning it once a week and co-washing it mid week or more. My hair has ALWAYS loved conditioner even when it was relaxed, but my instincts and hair are telling me that I need to condition it more until it gets the maximum moisture it needs.
Honestly I just like washing my hair and I have super short hair (3/4 undercut and like an inch and a half on top) so it's pretty quick. Seems like I'm gonna jump on this
I'm gonna start doing this I think it better. I have 3c low porosity hair with fine strands and medium density. Wetting my hair keeps hair keeps it shiny , moisturized , tangle free and defined . The very back of my hair is kinkier and way drier. It's annoying . The top is shiner and kinda loose but the very back loves to shrink up more than the rest and ruin my shape
Aminah MT I have the same exact problem! The back half of my hair is more 4a, while the top half and the very nape of my neck is a looser 3c texture. It makes my hair diamond-shaped, if that makes sense 😅 I just need more moisture and growth benefits so I can wear my curls more confidently. Hopefully co-washing everyday helps us out! 🤞🤞🤞
diamond shape is the PERFECT description of this odd shape my hair makes. im forever tryna fluff it perfectly. I have faith we will get it together soon sis. :)
i wash my hair once a week and wear 2 braids i take them down every 2 days and put my products and oil and deep condition every 2 weeks and that's all i do
I will co wash daily but I really only shampoo when my hair and scalp feels like it needs a shampoo. I dont use a lot of products in my hair. Like when I do a wash and go I will co wash then go in with a gel. If I'm not doing a wash and go then I will use my moisturizer and a serum then band my hair.
How are you trimming your hair these days? I know you don't straighten your hair as much anymore so when you trim do you trim curly? Or only straight? And his often do you trim?
HairByPierre hey love yup I usually trim twice a year when I straighten but this time I did once when I straightened and once curly I actually just trimmed yesterday so I won't trim again until 6 months I just find it works for me
Nia Naomi Couldn't agree with you more. I thought I was the only one who thinks this. She sounds like Beyonce to me so much and even looks a little like her too!!
Great but what about the nails? Trying to grow out my nails and girl....... They grow but with co washing daily they keep breaking or at least splitting.
It just depends what products you use after cowashing, cowashing itself isn't wasting conditioner but it all depends on what type of products you use on your hair after your shower
I'm not worried about wasting the cowash I spend a lot of money on leave in and gels so I like my hair to last 4/5 days because if I were to reapply product to my hair every day it would get used up a lot faster is what I mean.
Co-washing is for wearing your natural hair....NATURAL to keep it conditioned and elongated and to support applying styling product wet. Why are you wetting your hair daily if you want it straight?

i wet my hair every time i take a shower
💯💯💯💯💯💦
Same ,best decision ever!
you got the whole porosity thing right. the porosity level in which the hair does not absorb moisture as easily is low porosity. :)

StyledbyKam thank you for mentioning this... I've never heard of it.
If you still co-wash everyday can you do a update ?
I don’t like styling my hair often bc it take too long so I’ll co wash once a week then do the MHM treatment on the weekend. So my new routine I’ll start tomorrow will be co wash every Wednesday, MHM every Sunday. When I reach max hydration I’ll step up co washing more times per week. I notice the more hydrated my hair is the less time it takes to do, so co washing + style should be a breeze in a few months!
been binge watching your videos. was wondering your results. thanks for sharing!!!
I've just started last week.
TheLadye2u thanks for the love !!!
I just started this two days ago. I have a mixture of 3b 3c 4a hair! I’m also a low porosity girl as well😌
Just get Wen! Lol It’s basically the same and smells Fantastic. It’s a conditioning cleanser with no lather

Which is your favorite product to cowash with? Love your hair ...I have so much hair but it’s become so dry . Wana try this
I don’t cowash everyday, but I wet my hair everyday and put leave in conditioner and grease in it
Honestly I just like washing my hair and I have super short hair (3/4 undercut and like an inch and a half on top) so it's pretty quick. Seems like I'm gonna jump on this
I wonder how so much daily cowashing and detangling would work on 4c hair.
Great...the more moisturized your hair, the less tanlges you have. I tried it and have seen significant growth, moisture and definition.
thanks for letting us know
I'm gonna start doing this I think it better.

HairByPierre hey love yup I usually trim twice a year when I straighten but this time I did once when I straightened and once curly I actually just trimmed yesterday so I won't trim again until 6 months I just find it works for me
I trim every 6 Months to
At the end i was turnt for a min lol like oh the video over
my hair is the same way! more kinky at the back than the front. think i'll be trying this.
Can you please do an updated products that you like? 💕
You look and sound just like LaLa...doppleganger
I'm gonna try this thank you for the video sis
Thanks for the update.
ladynefertitibk no problem !!
How do you dry your hair? my hair takes 1 day to dry literally.
Neca Bibi she said she would twist/braid her hair into a bun and sleep with it
Do you deep condition everyday along with co washing?
joy james no I only deep condition once a week not sure if everyday would be beneficial you don't want ur hair getting used to a product
Girl you are beautiful
Hi kami I'm going to give this a try when the weather warms up!!
Candy Farah I think I'm going to only do it in the summer moving forward I really liked it
im Choctaw native and creole and and black but im dark but i love my skin
how
I bet your beautiful
What do you mean BUT your dark.... doesnt sound like you like your skin..
My father is Choctaw 😊
Are their certain products you have to stick too with this method? Im assuming you can't use alot of gels or thick butters in between shampoos
If i wash my hair every day it will never dry maybe every 3 days is more realistic for me
Omg not only do you look like LaLa Anthony you actually sound like her .. Girrrrlll!
do people tell you that? just curious.
Shea S lol yes I get her and solange and even Beyoncé
StyledbyKami yeah I was hearing and seeing the Beyoncé thing too 🙂
Nia Naomi Couldn't agree with you more. I thought I was the only one who thinks this. She sounds like Beyonce to me so much and even looks a little like her too!!
Shea S omg she does!
StyledbyKami I am agreeing with the La la one. She is gorgeous. You favor her though
How long did it take you to grow your hsir that long
The bottom of your hair may be low porosity
Look up Greenbeauty on UA-cam. She has a lot of great info. She's awesome. You can learn a lot about your hair type.
I use to co wash like that but it is too much!
Low porosity is when the hair has a hard time absorbing moisture
I will try the products out
Great but what about the nails? Trying to grow out my nails and girl....... They grow but with co washing daily they keep breaking or at least splitting.
You can use a shampoo brush 🙂
I have to wash my hair everyday/ every other day because I’m a competitive swimmer
So Funny because my hair is kinkier at the top and TOO DAMN LOOSE at the WHOLE perimeter!!!
What’s the difference in cowashing and washing like with shampoo?
Don't you feel like you waste a lot of product washing your hair everyday
jhanice buckley co washing isn't wasting product, it's waterwashing hair only water and than conditioner towards the ends
@Selia Vazquez but all the leave in and gel that you put in your hair stays in after cowashing?
It just depends what products you use after cowashing, cowashing itself isn't wasting conditioner but it all depends on what type of products you use on your hair after your shower
Only some products will weigh your hair down it just depends on what type you use and how much of it you're using
I'm not worried about wasting the cowash I spend a lot of money on leave in and gels so I like my hair to last 4/5 days because if I were to reapply product to my hair every day it would get used up a lot faster is what I mean.
I was waitting for this vidéo
Marguerite Alexis glad you enjoyed!!
lol with my 4 b hair I won’t have any hair left of i washed every day
Hygral fatigue with all the conditioning?
Great hair dear thumbs up beautiful dear
Creativeflaviagro thank you!!
How can you dry your hair fast tho?
Unfortunately mine doesn’t I use dryer and just air dry
Can I co wash my hair everyday and still use shampoo
Kayshea Alfred no cowashing is only with conditioner. I only shampoo once a month but u can do every two weeks if you like
I feel like if I washed my hair everyday I would always have wet hair because my hair takes forever to dry
you should wrap your hair in a silk hair scarf and a hair soft towel on top for 1 hour first, then unwrap and air dry 30 minutes or so before styling.
i co wash once a week? is that bad?
do you still do this? lol
I don’t currently because I have twists in but I still make sure I add some kind of water daily to my hair
😊
U from Baltimore ?
Do you put subliminals in your videos?..
Co-washing is for wearing your natural hair....NATURAL to keep it conditioned and elongated and to support applying styling product wet. Why are you wetting your hair daily if you want it straight?
Ms Vena Wetting hair daily maximizes growth no matter the style.
☺😍
Crystal Benjamin 😉😘
Why not just say cream rinse. That co-wash word dont fit to me
Co-wash: conditioner only wash
