My friend Ben dropped off his Nintendo Game Boy Color to see if I could work out what was wrong with it, and hopefully fix it!
Turns out it had a bent pin, so needed a bit of surgery to get going again.

This video is so damned satisfying. There's just something fun about digging into and repairing old tech.
I wound up fiddling with a C64 for a friend a few weeks back and had to give up because the thing was practically rotten inside lol.

Awesome video man! Seems like a fix for a possible common problem on gameboys. Thanks for the video

This is the exact same issue with my Gameboy Color, mines purple too, and found it amongst my old stuff.
Gonna give this a go 😅 thanks for the great video, you helped a lot!

I believe thats the audio in pin. that you removed. I'm pretty sure no game ever used it, though there are probably some chip tune accessories that do now. so should be fine to be missing. Nice to see some Game Boy content!

Nice to see a new video about repair vintage stuffs! Do you know that reserved(not in use) pin used for what purpose? just curious

I’ve no idea if that pin is used for anything… I hope not! 🤞

Is the pin that's popped up a bit on the far side of the cartridge port supposed to be up a little more than the rest?

Really interesting video, I'm guessing you won't be the only person with this particular issue. Taking a pin that I don't think gets used was a nice solution. I liked the way you used the drawing to give us a good video of what's going on.

Thanks John, it was a bit of a head scratcher trying to work out a solution. I’m glad you enjoyed my amazing drawing skills 🤣
