An Explore and Bivy Camp on the English Scottish Border Wall

- I returned to the English Scottish Border wall in the Cheviot Hills, to explore a bit more,
I also answer a couple of previous comments, which suggested I had perhaps blocked a path,
For a change the sun was out and the wind was just a breeze.
I enjoyed my peaceful Bivy Camp on an old hill defence.

A new subscriber from the US. You are showing me the best of your country side! Thank You so much!!
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoy the videos and welcome, don’t forget this part of the Uk is more wild than the green and pleasant countryside down south that English associated with, we are more moor like, it’s good to see as many visitors never see the wild parts,
Cheers

Absolutely loved this video! ⛰ The views from your camp were absolutely breathtaking! 🤩 I'm jealous you got to enjoy some dried apricots on that climb, they sound like the perfect hill-walking snack! 😋 I'll definitely be trying that Speedster stove setup - it looks so efficient! 👌 Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it, apricots from Morrisons !! Cheap as well !! I am well happy with the stove, in my next video you see how I use it for a big pan, weather played ball for first time in months
Cheers
What a fantastic spot for a bivy. New subscriber. Enjoying your videos.
Hi and thanks for watching and welcome
Yes a great spot, I love the way I can pitch anywhere with a bivy
Cheers
Another cracking video Adrian, beautiful area & perfect conditions you got there.
That bivvy looks amazing, unreal how there was no condensation. I’ve got the St Cuthberts way pencilled in, I’d love conditions like that lol. Cheers as always and happy birthday. Dave 👍
Hi Dave thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it, first decent weather in months, it makes for a great camp, I fancy doing the Pennine way from Hethpool to Bryness a couple of days I reckon
Cheers Adrian
@@northumberlandmountainhopperthat would be a cracking idea/route 👍
Always a pleasure from this side of the pond. Beautiful scenery! Cheers from USA! 🇺🇸
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoy it over in the USA
Cheers
Last two camps look really magical . How lucky you are. why the tarp up on the hills?is it just too cold and windy up there for the goretex only?
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the videos, I used the small tarp as the wind was coming across and along from the head end of the bivy and I sit on top of the bivy for the evening only getting in it if really cold, so the tarp is my protection
Cheers
Really enjoy your videos just found them. Beautiful landscapes and your explanations of what's what around you. Great!
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoy the videos
Good weather for the first time this year

cracking views to wake up to on your bithday, what a great start to the day.

Happy Birthday Adrian from Washington state. Beautiful weather there. It’s so nice to see you in the sunshine. Your bivvy set up looked so cozy! Do you ever sleep in in the morning when you’re camping? You seem to be up for the sun rises😊
Hi and thanks for watching, weather was kind for the first time this year !
I normally get back as the wife works and I am retired to look after our daughter who does not attend school as ASD, so I have a camp as my chill out time but I like to get back.
Cheers
Cracking video as always Adrian perfect weather for it mate stunning scenery looked like a great time congratulations on getting over 2k subscribers well deserved good to chat with you yesterday mate atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Hi Jimmy, thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it
Nice weather at last
Yes a good chat we had
Cheers Adrian
So peaceful up there. I liked your set up in the last vid so I bought a tarp. Waiting for the delivery now. I had the Sunday night out up on the ridge past Kingseat and the same beef stew. Hope to get the tarp christened on Black Hagg or the Schill soon. Many happy returns.
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoy the videos, what size tarp have you gone for, wonder if the tarp and bivy will take off on the Cheviots !
Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper DD 3x3m. Room for me and rucksack. I won't be going up top in the winds.
Doesn’t get much better than that Adrian , about time for some decent weather up in the hills atb Dave .
Hi Dave, thanks for watching
Yes i have waited a while for a camp like that,
Cheers Adrian
Cracking camp that one Adrian, such a blessing to free of the constant wind! Also, congratulations on your success with the number of views on the other camp 👍
Hi Shaun,thanks for watching
And the nice words, cracking camp with perfect weather hopefully the first of many
Cheers
Great terrain great weather, awesome bivvy camp.
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoyed it, the weather was spot on for once
Cheers
Totally fantastic as always!!, you had some incredible views there mind, and yet again soldiering on with tarp and bivi set ups, l9ve it, I can't wait to give mine a go, I was out last weekend but used a snugpack stratosphere, don't get claustrophobic and despite having a high pillow didn't get much condensation. I have got to give that border wall a go, obviously taking unto consideration the East sun and alignment of about 645-7 am and following your footsteps I could hopefully retrace that awesome pitch spot.
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
Hi and thanks for watching, it was a great pitch in good weather for once, glad you enjoyed it, can’t see me in a tent very much, especially now the hooped bivy is so good
Yes you will find it by following the video, mostly don’t talk about locations as one particular land owner really does not like campers !!!
Even leave no trace type !!!
Cheers
@northumberlandmountainhopper best to leave the locations to , "if you know, you known" then you leave it out there without naming it if you're willing to do the research and behave accordingly with respecting the country code and the wild campers moto then I don't see it being ant harm, there's not many that get into Northumberland thank god!, and the ones that do tend to be seasoned walkers.
Perfect, weather 👌 not breaking light too early(although that's soon to change) and not much wind, we've been plagued for months!!!,
I will get put soon and start filming myself, can't wait,as long as there's idiots lighting fires and wreking gates, fences and leaving rubbish I don't think the wild campers will ever get accepted in England, Anyway thanks again!
@@themountainmen9484have modified your reply now you know

I'm a new subscriber Adrian found your really fab videos, beautiful views, and what a treat to hear a Curlew, becoming a rare sound your winning me round to bivy and tarp 😅
Hi and thanks for watching and welcome, you hear more in a bivy I feel and it’s easier to watch,
Bivy’s,Love em or hate them really

Yet another great video and camp, You have a very good ability of uploading your videos as im sitting down for a coffee ! Keep up the great work and filming. Easily in my top 3 youtube channels.

Stunning camp Adrian, such awesome views ,I've managed to pick up a dutch hooped bivvy now, so looking forward to using that, happy birthday mate, you do inspire, that's for sure, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
Hi Craig, thanks for watching and the kind words, you won’t regret the purchase its a top piece of kit, no draughts, mind I will be back in the open bivy soon, as the weather improves

Hey Adrian,
I enjoy your videos. They’re informative, they show us beautiful countryside and your perspective is refreshing. Here’s my thought. The car park is full because you’ve let the secret out. lol
Regards from Australia.
( the Serenity! Watch an Australian movie called the Castle. It will become clear )
Hi and thanks for watching, lol the car park is at the head of a beautiful valley “happy valley” and always fills on nice days and bank holidays, when it’s lighter later I can arrive later with no worries !!
Glad you enjoy the videos from Australia
Cheers
Did look steep especially with 14kgs on yer back. Looking back it was bloody steep
Fair Play to yer fella. I would love to be able to do this but I’m not fit enough.
You need to look at
Real Turmat meals. They’re some of the best but you pay for it.
Hi and thanks for watching, I was panting going up, it’s a worry when the heart rate goes right up for sure, i stop and rest to keep it around 140 max, I had the stroke early March last year so should not strain !!!!! But can do what I feel comfortable with,
Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper
I’m fat, plus had a hip replacement in 2021 and now don’t seem to have the stamina I once had.
@@Yorkshiremadmickjust stay as fit as you can
Not seen weather like that in a long time, roll on spring!
Which size exped mat do you use in the bivy? I've only got long wide rectangular 10cm thick pads which won't fit with me in any bags
Hi and thanks for watching
My mats are Exped LW so 197x65 x7 cm
I could just get away with a 10 deep one but it gets tighter in the hood
Cheers
Love the landscape, great video, many thanks Adrian.
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video, it’s a wild area and quiet on the hills

Happy Birthday Mountain Hopper, great video, absolutely stunning views and keep up the good work 👍
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoy the videos, weather made a change !!

Which car park do you mean? most are ok around the wooler turn off. Jelly babies are the trick instead of dried fruit
Hi and thanks for watching, em I prefer the fruit but sweets are more instant, it was the Hethpool car park at the top of the valley, all the people were out having a quick stroll on the road for the views,
Now the nights are getting lighter I will be arriving later and will miss the rush, hills are deserted by the way
Cheers
Thanks enjoy watching, I need to get back to hillwalking and staying out been a long while
@@mikel6517hi and thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it
It helps with the mind and keeps you fitter for sure

Thanks for sharing another great video.
I was at Eccles Cairn a few weeks ago. Apparently it’s a Bronze Age burial mound which used to be much bigger than it is now but most of the stones have been taken and used in walls etc.
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it, caught the weather spot in at last,
Interesting about the cairn
Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper thank you for putting your videos up Sir.
I recognise many places where you go to (especially in the Cheviots)and admire your wild camping skills and knowledge. Your videos are a pleasure to watch and always give me something to think about. In this episode I was thinking about getting a stove set up like yours to save carrying a big heavy can of gas 👍
Do you have a link to that stove set up please ?
