    "What does a surgeon know about psychology and addiction?"
    A lot more useful information and advice than some of the people I've talked to, who called themselves "professionals".

    This is so contradictory to what vegans say. They say people "gorge" on meat . I say they gorge on carbohydrates (grains and sugars). Good information !

    • @puggirl63

      Vegans will say all bad things against meat...just as meat eaters will say bad things about vegans

      Vegans now have definitive evidence that their diet is nutritionally substandard. So how do they promote their ideology? They use language. The word GORGE has negative connotation in western culture. All meat consumption (even a 1 ounce portion) is labeled "gorging" in order to subtly make people feel guilty about it. Does anyone EVER say "gorge yourself on vegetables"? But they say eat 5-7 cups of veg per day? What is that if not gorging?
      If we want to feel good about it we say "feasting"! If we expect to feel bad about it we label it "gorging". The two words mean the same thing, but feasting is ok, and gorging is not. Its just mind control propaganda.

      @@puggirl63 That's because vegans are addicts. Meat eaters have clear thinking. Knowledge is power, power to change a life for better. Vegans seek to legislate, make meat eating illegal. I don't see meat eaters doing that. Vegan adults murder their children by feeding them a vegan diet which is more evidence of an addiction.

      Vegans are mindless sacks of shit, brainless zealots who think only with their 'virtue signalling" sense.

      Sure, we gorge on meat, but there's a limit...but when we slap some sweet sauce or bread crumbs on those meats then we can magically eat even more of them..because of the carbs

    One of the most neglected aspects of health and weight management, with respect to diet, is the psychology of food addiction. Without an adequate comprehension of the emotional dependency that many obese people have with carbohydrate rich foods, all the brilliant presentations and podcasts brought to the public by researchers and physicians, concerning the potency of low carb diets, will be ultimately ineffective. Kudos to Dr. Robert Cywes for focusing on this much ignored mental dimension of dietary compliance. He should be lauded for his efforts in bringing awareness to this overlooked topic.

    I love how Dr. Cywes always "shoots from the hip, not mincing words, but getting straight to the point". I agree with the direction he invites us to take in helping ourselves and others try to combat the power of carb/sugar addiction in our lives, by being courageous when necessary, but wise and compassionate in our delivery of the message to achieving success in gaining healthier lifestyles. When speaking with a physician friend at a recent social occasion, she had noted my "looking so healthy, lighter, good skin, hair, etc." and asked what I am doing to achieve this outcome. I shared how, in the 9 months I have been removing carbs, sugars, and seed oils from my food choices (I am 71, by the way), my blood pressure, thyroid numbers, sugar levels, have gone to "normal". Her comment was, "That's because you've lost weight." It made me feel a wee bit sad that even doctors do not hear the "real message", but focus on weight loss first.

      I'm glad u were able to do this on ur own. How r u doing now? I'm 70 and I went from 186# to 135# & have kept it off for 3 yrs, because my doctor put me on Metformin, Bydureon, Nature Thyroid, Progesterone, Acarbose and Baclofen, so my blood sugar went from 115 to 100 and I stopped having cravings. @@Jibbie49 Wow, amazing that I wrote this a year ago! .. Update on my health status: my weight dropped in the past 2 years, from 180 to my current 137 lbs ... I am on minimal doses of blood pressure and thyroid meds ... these markers, plus my A1c markers continue to be in the normal zone. People still rave about my "skin looking so good" for someone of nearly 73 ... In the past couple of months, I began to finally ride the bike bought 3 years ago ... and do up to 45 minutes a ride at this time, almost daily. Doing arm exercises using 2lb weights every day while listening to low carb focused youtube broadcasts ... Can do 30 jumping jacks easily ... Many improvements in energies. No knee, hip, or finger joint discomfort now ... Low carb/keto lifestyle is comfortable and manageable. My husband is doing well, too.

We could get a million things right with zero feedback and get beat for one tiny thing wrong. I eat, and my sister smokes. Of course we struggle. This and his other lectures are brilliant!!!!! By the way a true food addict can overeat anything not just carbs especially if leptin is off and the person is leptin resistant. I can overeat steak .

Carbs I don’t know I don’t eat them except in passing liverwurst, cheese, or heavy cream hope enough for RBC and few others that can’t do without. Your body completely replace cell after a year. Little criticism. Disclaimer: I really like this guy and his approach. The way of eating makes sense. I started applying it. However, I wish he would cite more sources. For example, where does he get the fact from that 70-90% of calories consumed by a fat person come from carbs? Sounds legit, but I am missing sources here as well as throughout the talk.

      Everyone is different. But look at the calorie content of a pizza. Ice cream. Even a hamburger -- the bun has 150 calories, the meat has about 278, add 40 for ketchup, but then add a side of fries..380 calories. And if you wash that down with a regular coke?

    • @jebharben2939
      @jebharben2939 4 роки тому

      It's just the way most people get fat. You may get fat eating steak and baked potatoes all the time and there you may be getting 2/3 of your calories from fat and protein, but it's the fast food type stuff that drove the American obesity epidemic. Steak or chicken and potatoes wasn't really getting folks "fat" back when that was the thing (and people had more active jobs anyway), maybe a little above BMI recommendations. Of course, "overweight" and "obese" by current BMI standards are ludicrous and funnel huge numbers of physically fit people into those categories because of their body frames and musculature, not body fat. I am overweight at 172, obese at 206. At 172 pounds I would look almost dead from starvation and at 206 I look fine and feel fine, but yeah, I could lose a little. 190 would be perfect, but I would be 18 pounds "overweight" according to BMI. I have shoulders like a linebacker and legs built like a power lifter, that stuff is genetic. I have an extra 20-25 pounds of weight from bones and leg muscles vs. your typical slender guy.

    These are regressed memories that only came to me years after sobriety.
    And being alone in a dark hospital on a different occasion,,nuns back them wouldn't allow parents, how mad is that.

    I just started to listen to this.
    He says during 15 years, he encountered 800.000 fat people.
    The numbers are written on the blue screen at 4.22 in the video.
    Thats 55 thousand pr year.
    If 250 work days a year, its 213 pr day.
    (27 pr work hour, if 8 hrs a day)
    If he means every day in the year (365), its 146 pr day.
    (9,7 people every wake hour (15 hours) pr day)
    Am I the only one reacting to these numbers?

    • @jasone205
      @jasone205 3 роки тому +1

      I think these encounters mean, meeting many patients more than once, i.e. 8,000 patients, an average of seeing each patient 10 times in a year, and multiple that over 15 plus years

      Too much protein turning to glucose is not a problem, provided you are eating from natural animal sources. In meat, the fat content that you consume along with the protein regulates your intake. Some protein turning to glucose is not a problem.
