I've only ever heard this once in game. I was helping a friend get THE MAIN ATTRACTION achievement and this music started, interrupting the fire Midnight Riders music. Turned to my right just to see MASSIVE horde led by a single clown. Probably one of the most intense moments I've ever had playing this.
There are Clown Uncommon Infected in Dark Carnival. Their shoes squeak, and if they run around too much, it summons a horde. If that happens, this music plays underneath the usual horde music.
It is just TONIGHT that I learned this is a fast, untuned music box version of the circus theme. It makes sense why it plays when a clown is running in a horde. Oh my god.
as i looked into this a bit, im amazed to learn that this is *not* the Dark Carnival Horde Theme and apparently ive never actually heard the *real* Dark Carnival Horde Theme, i would always hear this instead seemingly in place of the actual theme
I think what it was I loved about this theme was that it represented that things were getting worse as you were trying to fight off the horde throughout the amusement park
When an antique clown doll disappears from a shelf, you hear little footsteps running down the hall towards you, and you remember that you don't own an antique clown doll.
For some reason I imagine how you (well, when you play L4D 2) are being chased by a thousand-strong horde of Jockeys (or mud people or clowns or all at once) to this music. Well, it's just a situation that perfectly shows the potential of music. And yes, in my opinion this is not only in the amusement park but also on all maps, heh, I would like to see this hellish, but wildly ridiculous miracle for myself)))

When this went of in class, i was sitting alone (not many of my freinds were there that day) so when it rung, everyone pointed at me. It was a circus song, and it was scary (evil). And only 'babies' go to the circus, so they called me a Demon Baby. And the called you the new class clown cause its .. a well .. a clown song.
I lurve clowns. :D I feel awkward around them (I just feel that way around any performers wearing makeup or costumes because I don't know how to react) but they're awesome! Jugglng, WOOT!
