Thank you for Sharing Gordon. I work at Arriva TrainCare in Crewe and I clean the 197s and Mk4 sets for TFW. I do "Hand bashing" as well sometimes at work when a 197 needs an external clean. I enjoyed watching.
Another 5***** vlog Gordon. Great presentation. A Big thank you to First for letting them film behind the scenes guide and tour. Very interesting well worth watching. See Martin Zero doing a bit as well. Always good to see vlogs like this...
The Class 185 is a flawed DMU it has a route availability of 5 due to the significant weight (Sprinter units have an RA of 2). Then there is the design issue of the exhaust routed through the interior meaning two seats per coach are lost. They should never have been ordered.
The 180 is an example of a flawed DMU. The 185 is perfect for the job it needs to do, it's cleared for all the lines it needs and can run at line speed on those routes. Those trains are running sometimes up to 1000 miles a day with very little breakdowns. They will out accelerate virtually anything DMU wise and even some electrics. To say they shouldn't have been ordered is garbage. 2 Seats missing per carriage is nothing.
@@Geeves8612 The Class 170 kept timing with the 185 when it worked Pennine services to Hull. Go and look at a timetable from this era, not sure what performance benefits the heavyweight 185 units offer. These heavy trains typically weigh depending on the coach type around 20 tons heavier than Sprinters. This is ridiculous to have such an increase in weight. An RA of 5 is the same as a Class 37 that is how out of place these units are!
Great video Gordon nice to see Martin Zero feature on it 👏👏👏👍
Thanks 👍 buddy
Love getting thesee 2 liverpool❤ 😊
That was awesome one of the best Depot visit's i have seen . Great to see Don Coffee as well he really does know the 185's inside out.
Likewise great you managed to get Don on, his cab rides are always a great watch
The tidiness and cleanliness of the deport stood out.
I totally agree buddy.
Excellent Gordon 👍
Thank you buddy 😎
Can't believe that you met the legendary Don Coffey
And the Legendary Martin Zero Team !
Didn’t know that Ardwick had a secret. Still I like how TransPennine Express maintains their trains including the Class 185 Desiro.
A very good look around the Ardwick TRAIN DEPOT!!! & The Loco Sim 😉🚂🚂🚂
Very nice depot. Very bright, clean and maintained very well as well the trains who have been maintained there. Very interesting video.

dont those train washes use soap but use water that doesn't get the dirt off
Is it true that permission to insert an intermediate carriage to increase capacity was refused by DFT?
'Secrets' ----- really?
