@doncoffey5820 hi from me and my family! We have 4 kids and they often watch your videos with me! Love your videos and to see you with Martin Zero was a treat.
I am not a Train geek. But this programme is brilliant. Martin and the team you do programmes fit for TV. Don what a gentleman. We are in safe hands. I will be supporting the charity.
Absolutely brilliant day out for you guy's and having the opportunity to share it . Great that the company allowed you to visit . Special thank you to Don Coffey for arranging and for all his videos he puts up .👏👏
Hi Martin, This was excellent, very enjoyable to watch. Big thanks to Don and his team for inviting you James and Roy, I've never seen his videos, its about time I made ammends!! Great to see all the hidden details, very interesting to see the tyre wear thanks for pointing that out. It not only looked very professional but you could see the pride and entusiasm too, a great advert for the works. The simulator was also great to see the driving snow looked very realistic, I've had to drive through some snow storms and the effect is very hypnotic. Great respect for the train drivers. All the best!!
Amazing video, Martin. Your comments re the cleanliness reminds me of seeing the old photos of the Horwich Loco Works - I couldn’t believe how tidy it all was and they were building steam trains 😮
Thanks to everyone involved guys, absolutely great behind the scenes video. P.S. I have taken many a train ride after watching Don's channel. Thanks again Don.
Thanks for another great video Martin. It was fascinating to meet Don and the Siemens team at Ardwick. Looking forward to another visit soon, perhaps to the new train building facility at Goole, when it is in full production with the Piccadilly line trains.
Fun day out guys. We wondered what thos long sheds were, to wash the trains. we like the old Deltics, love the sound of those firing up on a cold morning. Some of them were 88litres and 18cylinder engines. They say they were one of the most complicated engines made. They kicked out alot of crap on their journeys too Thanks guys.
I really enjoyed that Martin it was a real insight looking at the operations aspect . Of course it was brilliant to have Don Coffey onboard as well. Many thanks
Great company to work for Siemens I worked for them for over ten years and the Health and Safety aspect is first and foremost at the heart of the company. You have been very lucky to have had a tour around the depot and the trains
Absolutely fascinating. Thank you all so much. No idea just how much work is involved in driving and maintaining trains. Great video. Well done Martin.
Very enjoyable video, interesting to see in a modern facility and well done to Don and all the other people involved raising money for such a good cause too. 👍
It's been good to look around this Ardwick depot, Martin. Bet you were pleased, together with Roy and James to see how the maintenance is carried out on these powerful class 185 units. I'm glad that you had a go on the simulator (there was nothing like that when I took my train driver examinations at Piccadilly in 1989!). Everything is advanced and more stringent these days, which is for the better of the running of trains, the staff and the public. Don Coffey is a most brilliant person you could ever wish to meet, and he has terrific knowledge of handling trains, without a doubt! I subscribed to Don quite some time ago, and his videos on UA-cam are so interesting to watch, with loads and loads of detail on them. Another most welcomed Manchester video, Martin. Many thanks for doing this, and keep well.
Absolutely brilliant vid Martin, so much info and insight as to what goes on and how decent to be invited down to see it all with input from some of the guys that work there!
Hi guys, I can remember when they built the new maintenance shed for the expected Euro Tunnel service to Mancs at Ardwick. It never happened of course. I had a mate who got a job with Euro Tunnel rail as a parts store worker and they just spent everyday doing test runs to Paris in expectations of the service starting. Eventually the proposed service was canx and most were laid off as it wasnt part of BR(?) Cheers DougT
I love the 185s, the 180 Adelante is my favourite DMU but both have the same engine and transmission and both trains make a fantastic growling sound. A 180 at Sunderland shakes the whole building. Great video, really interesting!
Martin back to his root as a trainspotter. Fulfilling some childhood dreams, aren't you ? Once in the workshop where the "big iron" gets love and care ! My father worked for german railways - as a signalling technician repairing defective signalling gear. And I'd accompanied him fairly often. Got my first solder iron from my dad at the age of 8. (Still have it - after 56 years ...) So I - for one - have a more technical relation to trains rather then driving them. Thanks for sharing !
Absolutely brilliant. So much insight into rail logistics and protocol. Great fun seeing the simulator footage. I can recall, up until fairly recently, wheel sets from locomotives being delivered to Bombardier in Crewe for overhaul in their workshops. Not sure what goes on there now, if anything. Lovely to see you chaps again. Hopefully we will meet again.
Superb vid and look around this depo. I used to go to this depo taking pics when I was a kid many years ago as my dad had a car garage in Ardwick so much to see with all the old diesels on the sideings years ago.
Great to see Don, been all over the country with his videos, it's really good to see places and areas of the country that you don't normally see when in a car.
Fascinating video. Great to see behind the scenes. Always have a massive respect to train drivers, one of my mates is a Pendo driver, and the route knowledge you need, especially at night, and the responsibility is incredible. Great to see Don too, his cab rides are so addictive.
Wait a minute. It's Monday. Yous had me proper confused when I saw this in notifications. What a treat to get a full tour and a play on a real train set. Thank you Mr Coffey for showing the lads around. I watch a few pilot videos and I noted the parallels as soon as you were moving off into the wash shed. Interesting to see how it all works.
This was a Looooong-awaited video. Getting to see Martin and Don on a collab video was on my Christmas wishlist for years!! Sim time was very enjoyable, too. I used to fly the KC-135 simulator a lot back in the eighties, and although there was no horse (sorry James) there were unusual issues meant to be dealt with. Cheers to you ALL!!
