The beeping you can hear when the train is reversing at horrocksford and before the crossing is turned on is the ‘confidence tone’ on the Shunter’s radio, it saves them having to call the train back verbally and if the sound stops the train driver (ie me in this video) will come to a stop as it could mean the shunter has fallen or I’ve lost communication with him

This has to be the most boring of all youtube offerings. Fascinating to watch - a type of self harming punishment for not having the will to get up and do something constructive. The point changing was the highlight. The way that little disc turned was the highlight, and then, out of nowhere, the orange man appears unannounced, as though he had been hiding in the bushes waiting to jump out on the driver and scare him to death. But that was not all: !! There, written in the sign by the crossing to nowhere, was the postcode of the points. Brilliant. Even the grid reference. A nod to the past before the first satellite was sent skyward to map the world. Then, the coup de grace, the reminder stamped on the train about prostate cancer so that the exhilaration of the train shunting, was tempered with our mortality and big pharma’s daily doom laden reminder to contribute to their multibillion pound donation system to keep them in luxury. Well done. I’m going to download this for posterity.
