    Hi Heath, Poor Bonito, they don't stand a chance. You have more ways to catch them than most fishermen ever considered. Thanks for explaining the tackle and lures you prefer. It helps to be prepared for the targeted species and like you say, have a plan. I read the fishing reports on Thursday afternoon to see what's happening in my area. The info helps me make a plan for my next day on the water. Thank you for sharing your fishing knowledge. I refer to your videos as an instruction book. Stay safe and good luck, Mickey

      Hi Mickey, thanks a million for watching and having faith in me. I truly appreciate the compliments. planning a fishing trip, and the ability to adapt and overcome in the face of opposition are the keys to success. Then again, sometimes the fish just won't bite. Hope all is well. Be safe & take care :)

      Hi Heath, The most important thing that fisherman should know, is planning and knowledge catches fish. Sometimes "dumb luck" catches you a nice fish, but planning and knowledge will catch you more fish consistently. I hope people realize the knowledge and experience you put into your videos is an accumulation of years of experience and if they use it wisely, they can be more successful. I hope you're all doing well and the kids are safe at school. As the old saying goes " If you have your health, you have everything." Take care and good luck, Mickey

    Thank you Heath. Baja Sur Mexico here - Sea of Cortez, East Cape. This THE TIME for bonito. You can fill your boat with them. Most go between 7 to 10 lbs. and some bigger ones. Like you said, about 150 feet deep. We mostly use jigs and pull them up about one after another. Excellent eating. You can sashimi, or simply garlic and butter, or they smoke well too. -- New info - thank you I didn’t know that bonito are forever swimming. Man great intel on your knowledge with these fish! It's so awesome you really enjoy sharing your experiences to better our chances. Bonita are on my bucket list to catch one day plus they are amazing baits. Thanks so much buddy! Keep these types of videos coming...I'd like to hear more on Grouper tactics as well...I got hammered on Goliaths several times and failed cause I screwed up using braid as my mainline. As soon as I got close to the bridge...it out muscled me and cut me off against the bridge. I removed the majority of the braid and FG knotted to 100lb Mono with a fishfinder on a 200lb mono leader. braid sucks with the lack of abrasion resistance. Now I'm ready next time I go.

      Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Yes, you can salt your bonito strips with non-iodized salt. It does nothing on the freezing end. Thanks for watching and asking a great question. Both of those lures work great, the set back with them is the treble hooks. But if you don't mind unhooking the fish from that lure, then you're good to go. FYI, if your gonna troll those lures, which I have before, I'd use some wire leader... I have one doubt.. when high speed trolling. How do you make your lure go under the water.. I mean, I tried with that kind of lures you showed, but the I find the weight of them isnt enough to keep em under the water. They go like a couple of meters under the water, they make some ‘jumps’, and sink again.
    Thank you, I ll appreciate your answer

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  Місяць тому +1

      Some lures like the Bonitas aren't supposed to dive down. Others, like the islander with the inline cigar weight will only go down a short distance. However, lures like the rapala x-rap and Nomad DTX 220 will dive down to about 30 to 50 feet below the surface

    • @TatoGotta
      @TatoGotta Місяць тому

      thanks for your answer! but what I mean is, for exaple with the billy bait mini turbo slammer, when you do high speed trolling you want the lure to go always under the water or is it ok if sometimes it makes little ‘jumps’ ?
      I have the same question when using the dark squids lure that you showed on the video

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 роки тому

      Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. This is just the annual typical migration pattern most fish follow in the Atlantic Ocean. They are basically following the flow and current of the stream, which heads, then out west, and then turns to the south near Europe and Africa. Out west, also, there is safe harbor in the deep edge of the Sargasso Sea, where most fish species go to have their babies and let the fertilized eggs drift with the current of the stream. Most of these will be eaten or will succumb to the elements. Hope this helps you understand the basic migration pattern. It's like birds flying south for the Winter. Where exactly they go, is a broad answer, but in general they head in a certain direction. Thanks again for your support of the channel. I truly appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)
