High Speed Bonito Trolling

- While high speed trolling for Wahoo we find out that fast fish such as Wahoo and Kingfish aren't the only ones to hit fast lures. What's even crazier is that we got these Bonito on a C&H Rattle Jet on a 30W pulled at 15 mph in some cases!

Pretty cool fishing Jerome! That type of fishing would be very foreign to me! Lol! Great video man!
Thank you!
Man I love that sound
I know right!
Hello! I live in Brazil and I'm passionate about trolling. Congratulations on the fishing and the videos, I wonder if you in your fishing of wahoo you use steel cobo or you only use floucarbon?
Hi Jeremy!
I went sailing in Greece last year with my buddy Martin, who has a sailing yacht there.
I took my fishing gear with me and dropped my artificial lures all day for a week in the saronic gulf. You’ll find all kind of species there. I also sometimes put on Water Wolf Underwater Cams where I could see some Mahi, Dorados and even a Marlin chasing my baits but only chasing and watching it, never got a bite.
SPEED:
Problem is we have a very constant speed of 5 knots during sailing, sometimes 4-4.5. so actually a bit too slow for that typically high speed trolling of 6-10 knots with artificial lures. On the other hand I guess 4-5 knots are way too fast for trolling live baits.
Can you tell me WHAT KIND OF LURES I should use to catch any fish during the next sailing trip?
Maybe a combination of artificial one and live bait (pitch baits?), because we’re too slow to trigger a reaction bite?
BIG THANKS!!
Phil
Hey Phil, that sounds like it was a lot of fun! I've pulled an under water camera as well and it was fairly common for several fish to check out my baits before hitting. Even with live bait. Some other baits you could try are a dead swimming ballyhoo rig. Also, trolling a spoon should work well at that speed too.
Amazing video, nice fish!
Fishing Flips thanks!
Cool vid
Thanks!
Still trying to get the nerve to take my boat out there. Dr inlet has been good with the reds lately tho.
You should trolled the Bonita!!! Duh
I like using them as cut bait for bottom fish or using strips for trolling. We’ll save them for that sometimes.
