- A lil stealth camp under a tree in -6ºC. This wasn’t what I’d originally planned to do, but there were too many people about for a tarp camp out in the open. The tree provided a nice bit of cover and also kept me a lot warmer - with about 3ºC difference between the temperature under the tree and outside it 😮

A great little tip I learnt in the Royal Marine Commandos, at night before you go bed, heat up a load of water, put it back in your water bottle, drop it in bottom of your sleeping bag to keep your toes warm, and when you use it in the morning you use less fuel to reheat it to cook with.
Just make sure your water bottle does not leak > wet sleeping bag.

Makes a refreshing change from the normal beardy blokes and expensive kit to find someone more realistic and relatable showing that things don’t always go to plan,and you don’t always need the most expensive kit to get out there and enjoy time in nature.

MINUS 10 or thereabouts, but I only had a couple of t-shirts & jeans on, & not a very thick s.bag. I made sure plenty of insulation under me.
Exactly my thougts! These serious bushcraft guys are too often focused on a gear and expensive stuff. It looks like these fancy things are more important for them than camping itself. It's so ridiculous 😅

To me Aldebaran is one of the most beautiful stars in the sky. That slow shutter speed also caught the Pleiades in all of their glory.... Didn't see if anyone else covered it but when ground camping always remember "Head up feet down," if you can't find a flat spot.

I really liked this. I keep it cold in my room to feel cozy under covers. A camouflage tarp might be a nice addition to roll yourself in your bivy up in like a burrito for an extra layer of protection from the wind and cold and tiny critters wishing to join you in your bivy.😄Take care, from AB🌺(wild rose country), Canada

Many years ago I bivvied in mid-winter in a beech grove buried under a large heap of dead leaves; great insulation and a very warm night. No bivvy bag just a ground sheet and lots of leaves.

We have crazy squirrels in the UK who attack in gangs, and use knives. They especially hang out in trees, waiting for unsuspecting wild campers 😳
@@noodles169 I hear they make a distinct "govna!" sound unlike other squirrels, and have 2 big claws on each hand that they raise up facing away from their prey--like a reverse peace sign--as a form of intimidation.

That was excellent, you caught the mood of the trip, relaxed and at one with your surroundings, great.
On my first bivi camp, I learnt a valuable lesson. I was in a group of six camping in the Lake District in winter. At night my friend and I lay under conifers where we woke up warm and dry. The rest of the group decided to lay out in the open. In the morning they found themselves in a dew-sodden patch. They had a miserable time making breakfast on the damp and cold grass.

Was on Botney Bay beach this week with a firepit in the Pebbles watching the stars and thought I was stealth until I went for a wee and saw the white cliff light up like a lighthouse lol 😆

I made use of a pine tree as an emergency shelter but it was summer and I got turned around because of fog. I put down some brows and slept pretty good. The next morning the fog lifted and I was able to get my bearings. Claire you are a hard case Camper and I think you Are Super Giirl. Keep having fun and making videos. Luv ya and remember Nature is Gods Handiwork.

Great video, a great piece of advice from a Finnish friend is he always drapes a microfiber towel over his face when he sleeps outdoors which I've done since, just stops the cold air dropping onto your face.

Looks like fun. I dislike sleeping on a slope. It never feels much at the time but in the night when you start to slip and slide, it gets to you.
Yes I agree it can be a pain! I like my head to be higher than my feet when I sleep so I enjoy a slight slope. If I can't get one I put my rucksack under the head end to lift it a bit. This one was ok but yep very annoying when you start sliding around in the night 😄

Great use of the tree, whilst watching it occured to me that it might be possible to slot more foliage in between the tree's own lower branches, if you needed to create a thicker ceiling, or if you needed more of an overhang in case of rain - I might try this. Well done!

years ago on a training mission, the weather turned by very quickly, there was no time to get a shelter. I saw 2 huge pine trees maybe 20 plus feet across. As the leader I hustled us over to them and set up like u did. great video

I camped like this under a large Spruce tree. Gently pinned the long lower branches to the ground for walls/roof.Very cosy and made Spruce tea 🍵 🌲in the morning from the leaves 😋..Awesome 🌳🌲🔥🌳🌲🔥

@@WildBeare Good afternoon Miss Claire! I'll tell you what my week is like. Today its 83 degrees here by me. No rain for the next 5 days. The sun rays was baking on my skin. I guess winter is just about over here where I live. Everyday i wake up between 5:00-6:00am . at 11:30am I go to a Nursing Home to hand feed My Mom. I stay there till about 2:00pm. Then I come back home. Then i turn on the computer till 8:00 . Then I watch a little TV before I go to bed around 10:00pm. My camera is broke. I wish you could see all the beautiful pink and light pink azaleas in bloom here by me. When July and August comes the temperatures range from 95 to 110 degrees. Super hot. And when June comes Hurricane Seasons start and lasts to the end of November. I hate Hurricanes. Why? Because I could be come homeless at any time if one hits where I live. We are the #1 lightening Capitol in the world. When Lightening hits near by it sounds like a big explosion. I've been living here in this inferno for many years. That's why I love your camping Video's you film in cold weather. A few months ahead I will start my Veggie Garden. I'll try to get a camera to put up pics . As far as me trying to share my Easy Listening Piano tunes with you- Well I found out You tube - They won't allow no audio recordings any more. I'm sorry to say I don't own a cell phone to post stuff up on you tube or face book. I'll have to figure something else out. And Yes- I know you have a Son. I know by watching your video's you don't like big crowds of people and you don't like heights. I'm about the same as you. But I don't have any children. Just a dog and a few cats. I love camping under pine trees. I took a square tarp and cut a slit from one corner to the center (where i cut a small hole and reinforced the edges) then added grommets to each side of the cut. I can then drape it over the lower branches and the tree becomes my tent
It's great! the drone footage shows the greenest tree that you picked. Despite the slippage, you stuck it through 😇

I have to rave about this for a sec, The music around the 8:00 minute mark is perfection! 😍 stopped me in my tracks, I had to go find it and listened on repeat for an hour or so.. it’s a wonderful discovery. Also, catching up on your videos while I work. Love your voice! It’s soothing.

Must be weird to be surrounded by people in nature. In NZ we only have 5M people in the same land area as the UK, so it's easy to be alone if you want! Some of our forest is primordial and has never been cut so it's far more dense. Enjoyed your video cheers!

Bear, you can take branches from other trees, 1 or 2 from each and interspersed with those on the tree , add, moss, bracken leaves etc to make a very wether proof shelter.

Really enjoyed watching seems a nice way to camp
defo great camping out in the cold lol. done a -4 hammock camp last month to test me new hammock under quilt. was so cosy i only needed me 2 season sleeping bag lol was nice and toasty.
