A great little tip I learnt in the Royal Marine Commandos, at night before you go bed, heat up a load of water, put it back in your water bottle, drop it in bottom of your sleeping bag to keep your toes warm, and when you use it in the morning you use less fuel to reheat it to cook with.

Just make sure your water bottle does not leak > wet sleeping bag.

You wouldn't think you could be outside at -6 in a sleeping bag & be warm enough to see you through to morning, i spose with the right gear & planning you can do this , well done young lady

Only just discovered your channel a few days ago and already watched most of the films.
Makes a refreshing change from the normal beardy blokes and expensive kit to find someone more realistic and relatable showing that things don’t always go to plan, and you don’t always need the most expensive kit to get out there and enjoy time in nature.
Looking forward to your next films and wish you the best for all your future adventures.

Yes, good comments... I get a bit sick, or tired, as a man, watching other men doing wild camps. Nice to have a feminine touch , without a beard obviously..I HOPE SHE TAKES CARE. (I ONCE DID A WILD CAMP IN A SMALL TENT & IT WAS
MINUS 10 or thereabouts, but I only had a couple of t-shirts & jeans on, & not a very thick s.bag. I made sure plenty of insulation under me.

Exactly my thougts! These serious bushcraft guys are too often focused on a gear and expensive stuff. It looks like these fancy things are more important for them than camping itself. It's so ridiculous 😅
That's why I instantly loved this channel. Simplicity, unpretentiousness, realism and zero snobbish talk about Stuff, it's so pleasant to watch❤

Bear, you can take branches from other trees, 1 or 2 from each and interspersed with those on the tree , add, moss, bracken leaves etc to make a very wether proof shelter.

Nice video. The tree prevents the radiation of heat to the sky, i.e., the open areas cool faster than under the tree. I love camping in below freezing weather. If you have the right gear and preparations, it is very comfortable. I have slept in a sleeping bag in a tent at -18 deg F (-28 deg. C) in Vermont in the winter. It definitely helps to use the hand warmers in your down booties and hot water in bottles in the sleeping bag to pre-heat it as well as keep you warm.

Ya know, the feel of freezing and the sight of crystals forming on the ground would send me running to the insulation of my car.!!!

That’s one of the many reasons I love this channel.!!! ❤

To me Aldebaran is one of the most beautiful stars in the sky. That slow shutter speed also caught the Pleiades in all of their glory.... Didn't see if anyone else covered it but when ground camping always remember "Head up feet down," if you can't find a flat spot.

Try using a wide mouth 1 litre Nalgene as a hot water bottle. I fill it with just off the boil hot water and wrap with any item of clothing to avoid scalding my feet. By morning it’s still lukewarm and speeds up making yourself a hot drink. I just walked the Coleridge Way, 52 miles, and had awful weather - torrential rain, sleet, high winds etc and it feels amazing to get under my quilt with my hot water bottle.

Honest reply and considerate. Nice people need protection too.
I pull or push to see what answers such prompting . Why else
to land a catch ? One explanation concerns my crafting hobby.
I learned in Micronesia of previous cultures that had no metal.
End result is a stone-hard shiny orb. Braided human hair has it
on display in ritual usage to appease man-eaters. To go there
the first thing I do is bait a shark hook with dead flesh usually
collected from tar surfaces where vehicles speed.. How hard
could it be to reproduce a stone age task methodology ?

On my first bivi camp, I learnt a valuable lesson. I was in a group of six camping in the Lake District in winter. At night my friend and I lay under conifers where we woke up warm and dry. @@noodles169 I hear they make a distinct "govna!" sound unlike other squirrels, and have 2 big claws on each hand that they raise up facing away from their prey--like a reverse peace sign--as a form of intimidation.

Squirrels in the UK are all high. I saw Bill Bailey's bit on it. Hilarious

Lovely video! Yes, trees and bushes can keep you warm. My late father used to say that the forest is the poor mans overcoat. He loved stealth camping and bushcraft, especially when he was young. I remember one of his stories about sleeping under a spruce in winter and waking up totally covered in snow. The little tree you are camping under in this video seems to be some species of hemlock-spruce.

Ahh that's a lovely phrase, they really can make quite a difference 🌲 I've always found it amazing how much more sheltered and warm a forest is than out on moors or mountains, which is obvious I suppose. But it fascinates me even more how I can sleep in a lil microclimate under a tree that's considerably warmer than the air just a few feet away
That sounds amazing to sleep under a spruce and wake up to snow 😍 thank you for the species info, it was a lovely lil tree. I adore evergreens
      Have a lovely weekend ☺️ 🌿🐻

Very nice little camp. Great drills. When I was in the army I used to love rough sleeping under fire trees and pines 🇬🇧 🇳🇿

Such a fun looking lil' overnighter Claire! A bit chilly for sure, but incredibly beautiful with all of that frost covering everything in the morning 😍 It was pretty cool to see how much added warmth that tree provided you as well. Thanks for sharing another fun and unique adventure!
I hope that you have an absolutely amazing weekend my friend! :) Stay wild.... 🐻 -John

Thank you for posting this video. Out of curiosity, would a light camo net on top of a green tarp not be of use? I should also add, I have that style of thermometer for my fish tanks. I nearly cooked my betta. They're not that accurate.
