Rest in Heaven to these two legends. Gregory was a tap dancing legend, and I had no clue he could sing until I heard this song as a teenager, and it is one of my all time favorite slow songs
2 Beautiful people singing together that are not with us anymore, Luther was a great singer and Gregory was actor, singer, and most known for his Tap dancing he was one of the best. RIP ❤
One of the most beautiful songs. It seems as if Gregory and Luther have been gone longer than they have. Rest in peace, gentlemen. This song is one of the best love songs ever made.
Add me to the list of people who had no idea that Gregory Hines could really sing. I'd never heard him sing before and saw no mention of him ever even liking to sing. And to be able to complement a singer of Luther's caliber was something amazing to witness the first time. Both died way too young, but this song will always live through both of them. R.I.P
Gregory Hines starred in at least two musicals on Broadway in which he sang: Jelly's Last Jam and Sophisticated Ladies. Sophisticated Ladies contained songs made popular by Duke Ellington and featured the crazy talented Phyllis Hyman. There is a great duet with Gregory and Phyllis on her CD called One on One of Take the A Train. His scatting on that duet is incredible. He made a solo album which included this song and was produced by Luther Vandross. If you haven't listened to other Luther music you are missing out!
I was so shocked at how great Mr Gregory Hines sounded doing a duet with Luther! Luther is a mega star and one of the greatest singers of All-time! I wish I could have heard more from Mr. Hines and Luther! Mr. Hines was so talented. He could sing, act, dance and was a great preformer! Rest in Heaven to these two great artist and men!!
Luther Vandross has always been a favorite in my home but I never knew that Gregory Hines could sing like that and I don't know how I managed to miss this song! May they both rest in peace with the angels.
I couldn't wait to hit the play button. I so love this song. I remember when this classic came out. Thank you so much for this reaction. I think you are the only that have done a reaction to this song.
Aww, so beautiful. The perfect duo. Of course love Luther Vandross but at the time I didn’t realize how beautiful Gregory Hines voice was. He was my favorite tap dancer too🥹. Just so talented💕💕💕👏👏So crazy about them both🥹💕💕💕 Two Ángels 💕💕💕
Gregory Hinds stared in the movie “Tap”. Along with other tap dancing superstars, including Sammy Davis Jr. That’s one to watch! Fantastic collaboration! RIP Gregory and Luther!
This is one of the greatest organic reactions for the subject matter, (Gregory hines) the other singer was a world known actor, tap dancer, singer as well as was an activist...may his good works still be remembered in this world to the next in higher capacity, Rest..or should I say live in power Mr. Gregory hines💯💯💯✌.
The world is not quite the same at all without both of these legends, Gregory Hines died in 2003, and Luther died in 2005. Truly legendary at each of their arts and both set the bar very high. And nobody has dared to come close to the excellence that both brought to the entertainment world. RIP, we moss you both!
Shawn and Mel, thank you very much for FEELING the song! Too many reactors are more like actors . . . thank you for reacting with your heart & soul! GREAT REACTION!
Amazing song . This is the only record I know of with Gregory Hines singing. I mostly know him from his amazing tap dancing and as an actor. Can you guys also react to Luther and Janet Jackson and their song “The Best Things In Life Are Free”?

The Cotton club, or white nights with Mikhail Baryshnikov. The dancing in both those movies was amazing. May Luther and Gregory both rest in peace 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Oh my goodness...I just discovered ya'll the other day, and I have gone down the Shawn and Mel rabbithole! I haven't been able to comment because I've been watching on my smart tv. I love your reactions to the ballads especially, and how Shawn grabs your hand, Mel when he's feeling those love songs. I love the love between you two. Luther has some good collabs. You should react to "If This World Were Mine," with Cheryl Lynn. That's another classic. Thank you for making my morning!
Gregory Hines is also an actor. He starred in several movies in the 1980s and I believe one in the 90’s where are you like it was famous tap dancers to include Sammy Davis Junior. These guys are legend and R&B will never be the same.

I was 5 or 6, playing outside in Chicago (west side THE VILLAGE), i cut this older girl's leg (Her name was Rena and her sister name was Rhonda) with a piece of green glass from a glass beer bottle, she was crying so badly... My sisters ran to tell my mom, and on that day I fell in love with this song as my mother whooped my ass with a belt, while listening to this (she hit me twice lol) and told me to go up stairs....
Gregory Hines! I love that man. May he and Luther RIP. He was a triple threat. He could act, he could sing and oh boy, how he could dance.
One more thing… I still really miss him.
Yes, the tap dancing!!!
2024 Gregory was on Broadway, check him out. His brother was also a dancer. They started as young children.
