I have 2, 1210 Mk 2 Technics. Had them for many many years, I have replaced the pitch control, still work like new. A real DJ's best friend.

I have 2 Technic 1200 MK2 for my DJing that I do. Absolutely bulletproof design and construction. Was the Club standard for over 40years. Mine are still playing great after almost 20 years I've owned them.A good video for someone not too familiar with turntables.

When you balance a tonearm properly, the tonearm should be floating completely parallel (flat) to the table and not pointing up or down any degree. When you achieve that then you set the marker to 0 and go from there.

This was an interesting me fun video to watch. Great tips, especially about oiling the spindle. You looked up an MK7 AC for like 1800 bucks, the MK two in my opinion in great condition will still outlast the newer versions of the been coming out.
Dust covers are immaculate, but the 45 adapter toss that piece of plastic out at least by an OEM or close to OEM replacement.
Be happy you didn’t have to replace that tonearm, I’ve done a few of those and they are not fun.
Next time you do something like this it might be cool to show people the dots on the platter and how they are moving so you can make sure that your platter is spinning properly at 3.3+ and minus etc. I think a lot of people would love to know and understand how the dots work lol
I got my first pair of 12s In 1995, beat up by a wedding DJ company. Upgraded the new ones over the years have swapped and sold and played on all of them but still love my 1210 M5G’s.
Although I’m tracking down eight new gold banded turntable feet in great condition OEM and man those aren’t cheap.
    🥳

A lot of clubs used these tables, and some still may. I went with a Kenwood KD-500 back in the day, which let me furnish an ADC straight arm. It still runs just like new, though I did have to manually clean the speed pots once. Fully-manual has its disadvantages!

I've noticed that you are using the thick (6mm) slipmat on this MK2.. and the vts is set to 3mm. Normally using this 6mm slipmat the vts should be set to zero (0mm).. in order to keep the tonearm parallel to the record.

I have a Technics SLM-3 automatic turntable that has a tracking issue. I've owned since 1985 when I purchased it while stationed in West Germany. It is a linear track direct drive system and I would love to have it back up and running once again. Contact me if you'll consider having a look at it. Thank you.

    • @VintageAudioFever

where abouts are you located? I have never worked on a linear tracking turntable...I did check yours on line ...it would be worth looking into it for sure....
shoot me a message of what exactly was the issue, I know you say the linear track! can you elaborate on the exact issue.
and thank you for watching my video, truly appreciate it man.

I’m still wondering the mechanism of injury to the stylus:Force enough to bend and rotate the aluminum cantilever ninety degrees yet it didn’t snap off? It’s as though a set of needle nose pliers held the cantilever steady at the base and another set did the bending, ie deliberate. But who’d do that? Someone trying to change the angle or azimuth? On go the possibilities. Weird.

    • @VintageAudioFever
      @VintageAudioFever  9 місяців тому

      yeah I know..
when I seen the shape of the stylus and the bend I wondered the same thing, I was thinking more of someone accidently hook the stylus as he was putting the record on to the platine...
that would be something posible, I can't imagine it was done on purpose, it's a fair enough explination.
I do know this turntable comes from a DJ night club so anything is possible.

??? Watch again. He locks it at 7:20 after setting the tracking weight. Since this model has a height adjustable tonearm pivot, the clamp is back by the cuing lift, not half way to the headshell.
