Jimmy Carr's kywords for Geordie did actually do what he sugested. It sets you up for the cadence and rhythm of a Geordie accent. It's not exact, but I can see what he was doing.

Aye, Ah ken wot'cha meen theyyrr, Bonnee lass! It worked better in Scouse, though... Geordie includes a good few Scots words like 'ken', 'bonnie', 'lad' and 'lass!'

I live in an old mining town in EastMids and we have many Scots and Geordies, .. One of the other mums at school got chatting with me, I recognised her Geordie accent straight away and I asked why on earth she ended up here.. Her response, "because it's quiet " 😂
My go to words for Geordie are motorbike and postcode 😀😅
For Scotty I use the words "right" and "well" and it flows from there.. I even confused some Scots boys at the pub, pretended to be a Scot too and they believed me, put the accent on thickly , but they nearly fell over when I dropped it and apologised for trying to fool them in my usual standard English 😂😂
Absolutely love accents, I am a linguist and musician, the two are connected for obvious reasons!
my Black Country/Brummie is quite exceptional too, I don't mind saying.. Lived in Plymouth for 5 years so my Janner is damn good too.. My challenge is
NI, if I talk like Gerry Adams it works ! 😅

I know what you mean, but Kev manages to get his naked bum in most of his films, (🤤) , so a Canadian playing Robin of Loxley didn't bother me 😍🤣🤣
Personally I wanted Billy Connelly in Braveheart, but the irony of choosing the American born man who grew up in Australia is brilliant 😂 Gibson made me believe ❤😅

I grew up in Essex and Chris Pratt's accent is good, albeit exaggerated. The show "Towie" (The only way is Essex) is based in Brentwood which is only about 9 miles from my hometown and I can assure you that, barring the rare exception, the accent isn't as broad and exaggerated for the overwhelming majority of people.

I'm Scottish, near Glasgow and Mel Gibson had a horrendous Scottish accent as good as Dick Van Dyke's Cockney or to put it better Mockney accent. Some of my family moved from Scotland to Newcastle Area (Geordie). Jimmy Carr's Geordie phrases were good. Newcastle (Tyne & Wear) and County Durham are very close to North Yorkshire. We would often travel from my Nana's in County Durham into Yorkshire and visit York, Northallerton and Thirsk (we met the real James Herriot when I was a teenager). I have visited Liverpool twice and love The Museum *The Beatles Story*. I love all 3 accents of Geordie, Yorkshire & Scouse. My cousins could switch between a Scottish and Geordie accent for 3 or 4 years after they moved. I got lost in a shop in Scotland aged 3 or 4 and gave my address of area in Newcastle Area in a *Geordie* accent as I loved trying to copy my cousins. They say that mimickery is the sincerest form of flattery. There is a reality show based out of a Yorkshire hospital and I love their phrases. I've had to Google a few. There are many Scottish, Geordie & Yorkshire phrases that are all the same phrases with different accents but those same phrases wouldn't be uttered anywhere else in England or Wales.

I was born in Liverpool in the 60's and grew up in Anfield till I moved out in my mid 30s.... even I sometimes struggle to understand the slurred noises that pass as "scouse" nowadays. My niece in her 30s is practically unintelligible. Nothing NEAR as cool sounding back in the 60s & 70s.

You almost never hear my accent in films, TV, etc, unless it's to play a particularly thick or challenged person, and even then, it has to be from someone who speaks that way naturally because non-local actors end up with a sort of Yorkshire/Manchester mash-ups.
