  • Is this an outdoors video? You tell me in the comments. My outdoor vehicle the "Blade Runner" had a terrible noise coming from under the dash. Here is a video of the repair.
    Hope it helps someone,
    Blade.

    HVAC Mode door Actuator (controls the diverter flaps to where you want air flow. floor, defrost, main vents or combination of 2 ...) it is a servo motor so it is positional meaning it has a home or zero position. It needs to know how far to travel or your flaps may not open or close in the right position. Be careful with manually turning the motor. You can get a programmer to recalibrate them if you do get it out of whack. Anyway good job getting it back working. You probably have 2-3 more of those actuators in the 4runner (1-2 blend door actuator-controls your hot to cold air and another blend door actuator that controls fresh air or recirculation)

    Thank you!! I've been trying to figure this out for over 2 years! It worked! Wouldn't have been able to do it without your wonderful video which kept from having to pay someone to pull out the whole dash and AC box.

    Thanks a million. Your video saved me tons of time and aggravation. Took maybe an hour or so. Mine had an annoying chatter that would come and go. The only thing I did different was to leave out the bottom screw that was a bear to get out. I figure the two upper screws will be enough to hold it since it is surrounded by the metal bracket. I put in a new one that came from assmazon then disassembled the old one. The slip rings on the main gear were filthy so I cleaned those with alcohol and the (3) wiper contacts. I bet this would probably still work. Keeping it as a spare. Thanks again!

    My 08 does the same thing. But if I turned my recirculating air vent off it goes away, just takes longer to cool off,

    • @Blade_Outdoors
      @Blade_Outdoors  4 місяці тому

      Yep …. The “ vent position wheels” in the unit is off/not in sync is my guess.

    Question with the buzzing noise, Did all of your air vents work perfectly when you heard the buzzing?

    • @Blade_Outdoors
      @Blade_Outdoors  7 місяців тому

      No unfortunately….the servo and plastic disc were not in sync and gave the buzzing noise as the disc rotated. 😔

      I’m having a problem with my two center vents not blowing, as well as that buzzing under the dash! Was your two center vents working properly?

    • @Blade_Outdoors
      @Blade_Outdoors  7 місяців тому

      @@robbiesimpson7919 i think so only because it was set to that before the disc started slipping. Could have been “stuck” in any position. I’d take the glove compartment out and just make sure the noise is coming from the servo. Just a suggestion.

    Hey! I'm hoping someone can help me here as I watched this video to take the motor out. The motor when plugged in spins the white attachment that's on the motor perfectly fine. However, when I put it all back together the arms don't seem to want to slide on the white attachment thing. Any tips or tricks?

    • @Blade_Outdoors
      @Blade_Outdoors  3 місяці тому

      @@andrewlee8868 hi. I actually had to put / slide the white attachment thing in first to line up with the three plastic arms/tabs.
      Once that was done, I put the main black part in and had to move it around until the white attachment rotor lined up and snapped in place.
      Once that’s done, plug in the electrical connection and test all the air vent settings to make sure everything is lined up properly.
      Hope this helps!

      Thanks for the quick reply! I did it that way and it seems the white attachment sits quite flush on the arms. But I'll give it another try, just weird because I see the white thing try to move when I select a vent but the arms don't want to slide

      @@andrewlee8868 it is a bear to do! Unfortunately it’s really trial and error till everything lines up.

      @@Blade_Outdoors hey again! Sorry but was hoping u maybe can provide some insight. The motor seems like it spins one way freely towards defrost. It seems to struggle to spin the other way. Does that mean I probably have to replace the motor?

    • @andrewlee8868
      @andrewlee8868 3 місяці тому

      But with the motor and white attachment hanging (not on the arms) it turns perfectly. Are the arms just in the wrong position to start?

    Hey there! Its called a servo. I couldnt figure out how to get the white part off the old part, and appreciate you going through that! Thanks also for the tip to put it in first. OEM part number: 87106-35120 or Dorman part number: 604-314
