It's so much easier to just use a long screwdriver to get to the two screws in the back that hold the metal frame on and take the entire thing out in once piece. The screwdriver won't be straight on the screw but if you push in hard it will still grab and turn the screws out. When putting them back in use either a magnetic screwdriver and/or a piece of electrical tape holding the screw and screwdriver together so they don't fall when you're fishing your way through everything to get to the mounting holes.
I'm in the process of doing this on my GX470 which is very similar. I may have messed up and disconnected all the connectors including yellow air bag harness. I then heard after that could be bad and need to unplug battery. Do you know anything about that? What to do now that it's disconnected?
Hi! I’m not too sure about GX470. Hope it has built similarly to 4Runner. If there there is harness all around and you have to getting your hand into the module then need to unplug them and get them out of the way. Then if you were able to access to the module. Take it out and do the similar step that I did. Because the module has gears inside it and has pins outside. The pin need to be line up with the hole on the white plastic AC vent bracket.
Hi! It will be hard to tell you which holes by the comment but look at the white pin from the module. First, choose the 1st mode on AC control where it it will blow to the face only. Once you push the button. You will see the white plastic arm which stick on the module turn. Then get under the dash and turn the 3 pin to where it match the mode button. Next line up the arm to make sure 3 pin go into the 3 holes. Hope that help

Nice T4R, did you paint it or is that a wrap? I'd like to learn more about it, been considering doing mine either a similar Sand/Beige or maybe a Cement Gray.
Thank you, your video helped me replace my 07 SR5 A/C module. It was a pain but patience is key.

Nice color paint job on your 4th gen

Mine did this for a few years. Mechanic said it was actually it’s the ac blower fan/motor that needs to be replaced
So after doing this, it happened again and I finally replaced to a new one and work fine so far !
