I really enjoy the fictional universe of Riddick, the movies and the video games, this is a great set, you get so much content, if you're a fan like me this is a must have 😎
@@williamdriver1959 absolutely couldn't agree more.. cant even play them on modern consoles.. Dark Athena went way too under everyone's radar, I remember having a blast with both games
The fact that they didn’t give the directors cut an Atmos track is criminal! Since it is the superior version of the film. Also would’ve loved the open matte treatment for the directors cut.
Watching this as a teenager was such a great experience, it's got all the over the top insanity that I liked back then with a Gary Stu main character. My copy comes in today and I can't wait to watch it again. Just need Riddick to come out on 4k.
The Director's Cut actually fleshes out Riddick himself a lot throughout the runtime. Definitely watch that version after you've done watching the theatrical cut.
Receive my copy yesterday, ripped all disks as always for my backups. Playing the movie from the BD and new 4K side by side on my 65" OLED, the difference is night and day. Not only in details but the colors are WOW. The Matte version is soooooo nice! The packaging is also top notch, love the artwork. My only deception is that I already own the BD which contain the DTS MA 5.1 in both English and French with French subtitles, while this Arrow edition only have the English track. No audio or subtitle in any other language while the previous version have it is a big let down for non-English collector. Still, I extracted the French audio / subtitles and remux the files so I still have them.
I've upgraded both Pitch Black and now Chronicles of Riddick, and they are absolutely an improvement, especially the HDR on both films. The Chronicles of Riddick Atmos and the HDR along with the open mat is amazing.
It took me a while to bag this new transfer, and once I did, I'm so happy I seized the chance, because like Arrow's earlier 4K of both Pitch Black and Dark Fury before it, The Chronicles of Riddick has never looked better. The dark, otherworldly blues of the Necromonger vessels, the sunny beauty and hellish apocalyptic invasionscapes of Helion Prime, and the flame-ridden Crematoria all come to life in an excellent way. And yes, considering it was a while since I saw it and in its theatrical form, I went for the director's cut. The added scenes, new character development and redone ending made Chronicles shine brighter than ever and show it off as the action-adventure hero's journey of Richard B. Riddick it was intended as, though I do miss "Getting Away with Murder" over the end credits of the theatrical cut.
I wish Radha Mitchell’s character didn’t die in Pitch Black. Would have liked to see her reprise her role in this one. If she had I would have watched it by now
Of the three Riddick movies, this has always been my favourite … and I have always enjoyed it. I am not bothered by the apparent inconsistencies in the universe as portrayed by each movie .. I think they all work effectively in their own right. Indeed, I am not convinced Pitch Black is really inconsistent … it simply lacks the depth expressed in the 2nd movie (Chronicles). The weakest, in my mind, is the 3rd movie … which, whilst it has a fair share of thrills, is really based around a very shallow, almost nonexistent, plot with predictable characters and story around the premise of the opening scenes. I see it much more as a run of the mill console game, rather than a movie … albeit with good visuals. The only real sadness is the lack of an Atmos track on the Director Cut 😢. Whilst it is nice to have the 3 different “versions” … since I happen to have something of a fetish for the letterbox format, I doubt I will ever actually watch the unmatted 1.78 formatted disc in the set (my copy arrived last week) … but my watch of choice would, nearly always, be the Director’s Cut.
… didn’t quite work? Ohh man please don’t try to review the content of films man…. Stick to the image quality and stuff. Your opinions on films is usually pretty off.

I would love to see the games get remastered and re released.

I could just use the Neutral X setting on my soundbar, right?
@@gamestation2690 Yes, you can use the DTS: Neutral X setting.

I really enjoy the Riddick movies. I have them all on Blu-Ray, but I might have to consider upgrading to 4K. They seem like the perfect films for 4K.

I really like this movie. It’s better than what people say.
Couldn't agree more with the new atmos. Very impressed
Watched it last night and agreed the Atmos mix is incredible, one of the best this year
Great movies. Glad I got both Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick on 4K.
i’m with you - could have been a better movie as there are lotsa great scenes but it gets bogged down by too much and not as exciting stuff
Definitely will be getting it 🙏
Hey Adam. Thanks for the review of The Chronicles of Riddick (3-Disc Limited Edition) [4K Ultra HD]

I love the Riddick films. Thanks for the review - I just got mine and can't wait to watch.
Loved this movie when it came out in 2004. I too have the ARROW 4k sitting here on my desk. can't wait to get into it

@davidrowley-ic6dx IMO the open mat edition is soo much better in color, but the detail is very slightly less, but the HDR & color make it awesome.
The 3rd disc Open Matte version looks incredible, deff my way to watch from now on
DIRECTOR'S CUT NOT HAVING DOLBY ATMOS!!! IS VERY DISAPPOINTED...
AND A SLAP TO THE FACE FOR PHISCAL MEDIA COLLECTORS...
I have the blu ray do u recommend the 4K blu ray
Only just upgraded to Blu Ray with these , may have to triple dip 😂
Wonder if they'll give the 3rd the 4k treatment to complete the set
Just been announced by shout factory
Does this include the Anime?
Dark Fury is on Arrow's 4k release of Pitch Black but not replicated here on Chronicles.
@@leemaine1727 really? That’s in my library, don’t know how I missed it, thank you
