Glad to hear that this is a good release. I got this and another Criterion release as my last two pickups for the Barnes and Noble sale. I have four movies by this director but haven't got a chance to watch any of them yet.
Very excited to see this even more now with your review. Del Toro is my favorite director so very happy to see that I can watch even more of him discussing his films.
Thank you for your unbiased review. Strangely enough, when I saw this film at the cinema I would say that it had more of a green hue to it which was closer to the Fox release. Nevertheless, if there is more detail in the Criterion release then that is something to be commended 👍 😎
I usually pick up all of Guillermo's films (Pans Labyrinth is my favourite film of all time!), but having first watched Shape of Water in the cinema & being surprisingly bored with it... I am giving it a miss.
Where are you getting your Fox 4K screenshots from? Becuase it's definitely BS / misinformation that there's a color difference between the two releases. I'm not sure if you're intentionally faking these screenshots, or if you got the movie from some shitty source, but this is definitely not an accurate comparison at all.

I saw a different comparison online and the color timing was identical, so I'm curious as well.
is it worth upgrading from the Blu-Ray I have or am I better off with Blu-Ray?
