It is interesting however to see what Tarantino had to do to get the R rating for the first film from a creative standpoint.. I would pick up the 2 releases in a heartbeat.

Ken here in the UK Disney have been put out 4K/Blu-ray combo pack steelbooks for the Disney+ shows. This is just another example about how anal-retentive the North American home video market actually is when it comes to formats. Laserdisc got under the bus in 1999, although due to the popularity in Japan the Japanese home video market got an extra 12 months of support for the format. In addition the North American home video market stopped producing VHS in 2002 in but in the PAL region (oceanic region, Europe And the Middle East amongst others) support for VHS didn’t stop until at least 2005. When 3D was a big thing the North American home video market stopped 3-D releases by around 2016 and here in the UK we still got 3 to 4 years of support along with Japan, I still think they’re doing 3-D releases along with their 4K movies, at least in terms of Disney at least (although don’t quote me). In terms of editions for the Disney+ shows I’d still like to have standard releases in addition to steelbooks because I typically don’t open my steelbooks
Jackie Brown definitely gets my juices flowing. I’m waiting for more of the other fincher in 4K. Fight club will get a boost from HDR and or Dolby vision, but his films tend to have a yellow haze over them so it probably won’t be super noticeable as an upgrade imho.
Hey Ken 👋 Definitely getting Jackie Brownn, Kill Bill 1 & 2 on 4k when they come out. It's kind of interesting that Disney isn't including standard bluray editions. I wonder if these kind of releases will get more people onto 4K UHD. You can get a 4K player these days for around $150, or even use one of the latest consoles.
I read somewhere that someone with some industry connections said that Disney was trying to create a new market price for steelbook releases. So these inflated prices may be a thing.
21:05 Ken, with regard to the Disney shows 4K steelbooks coming, there were Blu-ray steelbook versions of the Mandalorian 1 and 2 Seasons, WandaVision and Loki season 1. The Arrow Inglorious Basterds is a new 4k upscale from a 2k master. There is no cut negative for that film as so much vfx was done in post. A top down 4k restoration would require essentially recutting the entire film using the 35mm negative and adding the vfx again. This would require a massive amount of work and, while technically possible, it would be prohibitively expensive in this niche market. Basically, this is probably a good as it's gonna get for this title. All of this goes the same for Kill Bill as well.
I hope you’re right and those Tarantino announcements are new restorations. Even better if they all went to Arrow for matching box sets. I have the 4K steelbooks of WandaVision and Mando S1&2. There were no blu for those either. I got those discounted bundling via DMC. I have a feeling they’ll be too expensive on their own.

Hi Ken My thoughts on the Disney option is this. I think they saw that only the 4K's were selling due to the fact that well over 90% of people buying these would be Physical collectors who for the extremely high majority have 4K players. So they could put out the packs with Blu for a tiny fraction of people and the cost would be higher or keep production hence sales cost down by going 4K only. In the end I think only a tiny fraction of people would face the disappointment here practically all the physical collectors will be fine. Also I am pissed as hell no trick or Treat left at Diabolik therefore we here in the "rest of the world" are screwed cos Synapse don't ship anywhere.
Tonight’s movie in my home theater is the new Signs 4K disc. High hopes for the picture. Not sure the 5.1 Dts can be more effective than the great original 5.1 mix. Maybe its the same. I have an early bluray that doesn’t even have dolby true hd or dts hd master audio. Its simply Uncompressed 5.1 PCM. The av receivers at that time didnt support the new Bluray Dolby/ DTS codecs right after the release.. It sounds so good when pumped through the 7.1 analog multi channel connection from the Oppo to the preamp/processor. The oppo player processes the audio through a pretty good digital to analog converter, and sends it out analog 8 rca cables to the processor. Its sounds so solid. HDMI audio is amazing. But some movies sound so much better through the outdated “MULTI-IN” connection. Its basically phased out in most new receivers and preamps. But its my favorite audio connection. Atmos can be so amazing. But for me, the old analog multi channel connection sounds supreme in my system with the right movie.

I also am wondering what is going on with the 4K of Caligula way back when it was first available and I already paid for it and I'm anxiously awaiting for it
I think they are testing how far they can go with pricing before they stop selling out. All greed and profit driven now. There is no need for them to price it this high.
I want the Deadpool & Wolverine steelbook, but I can't justify 55 bucks for it. Ain't no telling when it'll be restocked. Plus if I get one I'll be compelled to get the other. So I'm fine settling with the Wal-Mart exclusive one with the Deadpool gang pop-up sleeve.
Will Kill Bill Vol 1 have the Japanese cut where the big fight stays in color instead of changing to black and white? That one set you talked about had The Screaming Skull. That movie was spoofed by MST3K, but I don't know how the other movies are. It could be public domain titles. Did they AI it to 4K or really get ahold of the original film elements?
Zavvi (U.S.) has a pre up for Constantine also ($58.99). The only new Disney show drop I'll grab day 1 is Loki season 2. Just ordered The Cell from Arrow. Had to have it with the different cuts + 4k. The Arrow version of The Gift pre is $5 less, but no included blu-ray.
21:16 deal breaker for me, i had to exchange my wandavisions, mando season 1 and falcon and winter soldier 4k steelbooks because the discs always had at least one scratch on it. Day one buy. No more 4ks for me when the item is more than one 4k disc in a package 4k discs hate me
Yeah regarding the next wave of Disney + shows getting physical releases. They are not doing Blu Ray releases this time at least for now. Bill Hunt at Digital Bits says he's heard that the Blu Ray releases to sell well enough for them and he also speculates that they may put them out on Blu Ray still in 2025 but they wanted to get the 4ks out by the holidays. I'm not holding my breath. For the U.K. releases for wave 1 & 2 they did combo packs (4K + Blu Ray).I wish they were doing that here. As a Blu Ray user who doesn't have 4K, it really feels like a slap in the face not to be able to get these on Blu Ray .Other Blu Ray users on the forums are also feeling pretty shafted here.I haven't upgraded to 4K because I watch most of my physical media on my BD drive in my computer. 4K disks aren't support in drives(they were for a brief short period but was discontinued) It's very frustrating to have the Mando Season 1 & 2 releases but not be allowed to get the Season 3 nor the second and final season of Loki while having Season 1 because I haven't upgraded to 4K.Plus i do want Ahsoka and Hawkeye. I have all the previous Marvel/Star Wars releases from the previous waves and it is so galling not being able to pre-order these because Disney/Sony decided to deny the Blu Ray format.
Django sadly isn’t coming to 4k any time soon, as far as I know. But with the release of more Quentin Tarantino films being but on 4k it may eventually become a reality
It looks like all three of those Tarantino movies are slated for a January release. Regarding the Kill Bill films, I really can't see how they would work in a single combined film. I haven't seen either one in years but my recollection is each film had a different vibe. Vol. 1 was more of a martial arts movie while it seemed vol. 2 was more plot-driven.
4K or bust is what the industry should have done from the start if we're being honest. New DVDs and Blu Rays shouldn't be produced anymore and 4Ks (including players) should be a lot cheaper. Then physical media would have more of a chance against streaming.
Polish up a turd!!😂 I got the Deadpool Wolverine 4k but no way I'm I paying that for steelbooks going forward..nope...hell nah!! More Tarantino I'm here for it.
JACKIE BROWN is a killer script. I want all Tarantino on 4K, even THE HATEFUL EIGHT, which I've never liked. I just hope the KILL BILL set puts the color back into the B&W section of VOL. 1 because that was cut out in '03 for ratings. I want FIGHT CLUB on 4K but my guess is that Second Sight or Arrow are gonna put out a special edition of it because we know the US release is gonna skimp on bonus features. We lost that original SE7EN deluxe set and we don't know how big the PANIC ROOM set will be, but I'm not optimistic given how goddamn cheap everybody is being these days. I'll buy JOKER 2 just to have a complete set. I think it'll be weird to have a major hit and a major flop in the same franchise in my library. You never see that really. Well, I DID want that CONSTANTINE 4K but since I'm looking at this 24 hours later, it's probably already sold out like all WB UK boxed sets. I really dig that movie because it's very similar to how the comics work. I was willing to buy DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE in steel for that price *just this one time.* Because none of the steels came out locally and I bought the standard 4K for full price and it's sold out all over town where I live, so the demand was enough to motivate me. But $50+ steels on the regular? Screw that, I was never a die-hard steel guy anyway. That TCM is a swag chest and nothing more. I just want a nice boxed set of the film with posters and booklet. Don't need the rest of the crap. I'd pay those prices for the Di$ney steels if they were dual-format, but not 4K alone. I didn't buy the LOKI and WANDAVISION Blus because they were too goddamn expensive and I wasn't getting full-time hours yet. I am...tempted to get that full TERRIFIER set. That is completely fully-loaded.
Are the kill bill movies going to be released uncut with those massacre scenes in color??? because if not i will import the japanese uncut blu ray over a censored movie on 4k. Im sick of them releasing cut movies in this day and age.

I also am wondering what is going on with the 4K of Caligula way back when it was first available and I already paid for it and I'm anxiously awaiting for it
Don't pay these high prices and they'll have to lower the prices because of demand.
Unfortunately I think they’ll see it as a sign that people aren’t interested in physical media and they’ll stop putting out all together.
I think they are testing how far they can go with pricing before they stop selling out. All greed and profit driven now. There is no need for them to price it this high.
I see your shirt, then im on my N64 the rest of the day.
And dreaming for a film trilogy of Oot.
Where can i get No Country for Old men 4k UHD, from Criterion? as i have a great 4k multi region player now
It’s on Amazon for pre-order right now. Barnes and Noble and the Criterion sites as well.
Venom the last dance is so good
I want the Deadpool & Wolverine steelbook, but I can't justify 55 bucks for it. Ain't no telling when it'll be restocked. Plus if I get one I'll be compelled to get the other. So I'm fine settling with the Wal-Mart exclusive one with the Deadpool gang pop-up sleeve.
Yo Minion Buddy, don't worry about whether you're talking SHIZIT too much...
That's why we have a fast >>> forward option...
Ken I don't have a computer. Can you show us how to get the list of movies on our phones❓
You should still see the links in my description below on your phone.
@midlevelmedia Yes but it shows up horrible making hard to see on the phone.
Would love if Arrow got to do the remaining Tarantino flicks on 4k
21:16 deal breaker for me, i had to exchange my wandavisions, mando season 1 and falcon and winter soldier 4k steelbooks because the discs always had at least one scratch on it. Day one buy. No more 4ks for me when the item is more than one 4k disc in a package
4k discs hate me
I wouldnt pay more then 85 dollars for that chainsaw set.
4K disks aren't support in drives(they were for a brief short period but was discontinued)
It's very frustrating to have the Mando Season 1 & 2 releases but not be allowed to get the Season 3 nor the second and final season of Loki while having Season 1 because I haven't upgraded to 4K.Plus i do want Ahsoka and Hawkeye. I have all the previous Marvel/Star Wars releases from the previous waves and it is so galling not being able to pre-order these because Disney/Sony decided to deny the Blu Ray format.
At Scarefest, darkskye was selling Texas chainsaw massacre 50 anniversary movie for $200
Did I miss if Django Unchained with Jaime Foxx was announced for 4K?.. also any new on Dreamgirls or Prince of Persia coming to 4K? Thanks
Django sadly isn’t coming to 4k any time soon, as far as I know. But with the release of more Quentin Tarantino films being but on 4k it may eventually become a reality
Venom is up for £35 on Zavi UK and HMV
Mandalorian: The Complete Third Season is really not a blu ray like there has been in the other seasons?
Inglourious Basterds is supposed to be the same 2K scan. They aren't going back to scan it in at 4K so I'll be passing.
Shocker 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'd rather have both of the Bills in a single release.
Is it your camera or UA-cam but you look rough on TV.
I’m on a webcam for this particular video.
When it comes do the disney stuff i'd rather it be the best possible format than say just bluray or dvd
Constantine 4k yessssssss 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
If Fight Club is being announced that's its being worked on for 4k I'd assume it won't be out until later in 2025.
I agree 100%
What do you have against long videos?
I don’t have anything against long videos. I love making them and watching them. Some people think every video should be 10 to 15 minutes though.
@@midlevelmedia I saw that comment on your last video. Ignore that clown and do your thing.
@@midlevelmedia I like the longer videos. Give us our moneys worth! :)
@@homersoddishe I intend to. Thank you.
With Kill Bill if it’s not The Whole Bloody Affair I’ll pass. We’ve only been waiting 20 years.
Of course Kill Bill gets announced 3 weeks after I buy them on Blu-ray 😂😂😂😂 the curse finally hit me!
Howlin 2🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
True
Don't talk about fight club
4K or bust is what the industry should have done from the start if we're being honest. New DVDs and Blu Rays shouldn't be produced anymore and 4Ks (including players) should be a lot cheaper. Then physical media would have more of a chance against streaming.
Polish up a turd!!😂 I got the Deadpool Wolverine 4k but no way I'm I paying that for steelbooks going forward..nope...hell nah!! More Tarantino I'm here for it.
Great I just bought Fight Club 6 months ago on Blu-ray😂
Trick of Treat was going to cost me (in the UK) $103, so I had to pass.
Latest report on Inglorious Bastards is it's an upscale from a 2k element. This is from someone at Arrow customer support, so hugeeeeee grain of salt.
Pray ken Pray
Relieved with the news. I want nothing! LOL
I'm def pissed that Disney is only giving us 4K versions.
Are the kill bill movies going to be released uncut with those massacre scenes in color??? because if not i will import the japanese uncut blu ray over a censored movie on 4k. Im sick of them releasing cut movies in this day and age.
