  • If you’re looking for one of the best things to do in Canterbury, Kent (UK) look no further because I think I’ve found it! Located just a one hour train ride from London, The Canterbury Tails cat cafe is a hidden gem buried away in one of the quirky lanes right next to the cathedral in this beautiful historic city.
Cat lovers will be amazed and if you’re a coffee lover, even more so! There are 25 adorable cats here, all kinds of different breeds - some that want to play, some that want a snuggle and some that just want to sleep on your lap! Walk with me as I explore this paw-fect tourist destination!
So don’t miss out - this is THE place to go on in Kent (especially if you’re a crazy cat lady like myself)
My name is Jack and I’m exploring the UK, making travel vlogs as I go. I’d be so grateful for your support, so please do like the video, leave a comment and subscribe to my channel here - youtube.com/@jackryanmiller?s...

I went to two cat cafes in Beijing, there's no charge for entry and you can sit and drink a coffee or whatever you want. People usually buy little trays of food for the cats, there is no obligation but I can't imagine cat lovers not buying anything for them as I did. It only costs around 5 yuan for the cat food and you can watch them eat on your table. The second cat cafe I went to in Beijing had around 100 cats, they were everywhere and quite polite among themselves, the moment a cat jumped up onto the table to eat the other cats left them to it, there were no cat fights. The first cat cafe I went to in Beijing had fewer cats because the cafe was smaller. I used to go to cine cafes in Beijing too when I lived there, there were quite a few. You could buy a coffee and every evening they would show a film on a screen (mostly American, British or other international films, rarely Chinese ones), at weekends it was afternoons and evenings, they became kind of like clubs, a few of them were hidden away and had regulars who knew where they were. There were also cafes with board games but that wasn't my thing, but some cafes held meetings to talk about about anything, it was a great way to make friends. I am now back in the UK. I must admit, I miss the Beijing culture but now I want to discover more about my own culture and places I have never been to in my own country, especially on the Sussex coast. I find your videos interesting and have subscribed to you. Thank you for your interesting videos. Take care!

Thank you so much for visiting us! So glad you had such a great time - even if Gari wasn't in the mood to play with you and just wanted a mad moment on the climbing pole instead, haha!
You're right - we have 4 floors that the cats can roam about as they please (apart from our kitchen), with our lower 2 making up the café - so the cat crew's interaction with people is entirely on their own terms. The "fat shorthair" you saw in the window is Custard - the window bed is his favourite and yes, he is very fond of food haha, and the hilarious dilute calico with the flat face keeping you company for a while is Mochi, and the grey and white one playing with her at one point was her brother Bao! We do regularly book up every session to capacity on weekends, special days (eg Valentines, Mothers Day, Bank Holidays etc) and during school half terms - so if you're ever looking for a more "chill" session we always recommend a midweek, if you also avoid lunch time you may even get lucky and have the café pretty much to yourself on the odd occasion! (You are also able to book multiple session in a row to have an extended time with us!)
Other cat cafes we love and would recommend are Lady Dinahs in London, and Maison de Moggy in Edinburgh!
Thank you for your kind words and fab video! You're of course welcome back any time!

Ahh thanks so much for checking out the video, I hope I did your Cat Cafe justice! And I hope you know I meant ‘fat shorthair’ in the most affectionate way possible 🤣absolutely loved Gari on the climbing pole, it’s like a show cat! I’ll definitely be visiting again next time I’m in Canterbury

Thanks so much! It is such a cool experience but try to go when it’s really quiet to get more interaction with the cats 😄

you havnt questioned if these cats are for re-homing? or if proceeds help with re-homing or if there is any charity element to this? There is supposed to be a cat cafe in Bristol you might like to check out. There is also one in Newton Abbot in Devon.

Hey thanks so much, I’m planning on going Bristol at some point so will be sure to check it out 😄apparently all 25 cats have been rehomed here from situations they can no longer stay in, so this is their home
