- My adventures along the Norfolk coast continue this week in this 4K walking tour of the amazing and tranquil seaside village Winterton-on-Sea!
Located just down the road from Hemsby and next to the Norfolk Broads, this scenic little hidden gem really did shock me. A beautiful sandy beach, thatched round holiday cottages, a historic church that dominates the skyline, country paths, a village pub, a nature reserve, miles of rolling dunes and even a grey seal colony! This is a holiday destination that tourists don’t know about yet!
So walk with me and see why this is one of the best places to visit in Norfolk this spring and summer!

So glad you like our village, I say our village as I only moved here just ver 3 years ago and absolutely love it. The sheds on dunes are Fishermans sheds. As you’ve seen village is beautiful and as a village has everything. Post office, coffe shop, fish and chip shop and great corner shop. Plus up on dunes seal view. The pub (Fishermans) is great, the owners Darrin & Chris are so welcoming and the food is great. For me it’s a great local. Hope you come me back as you loved so much. If do come and say hi.

We have been visiting Winterton since 1981. Just love everything about Winterton, sometimes 3 times a year . The Sunday Carvery at Hermanus is amazing.
Would encourage anyone to visit or Holiday here. Cant really say enough. enjoy.

I spend every summer there as a child with my grandparents, am going to plan a trip back in the next month when it stops bloody raining

Although you didn't see many folk, everyone is very friendly and, as you say, everyone knows everyone. It's the perfect place for walking our dog who doesn't know he's born living here 🐾

Thank you. I have a weeks holiday booked. I'll be 5 minutes drive from this beach. I'm staying in mini barn on a lovely rural road. It's just my dog and I - I'm leaving partner at home. I wanted a laid back week of walks with the dog. It looks perfect 👌 i have never been to Norfolk. I read about the seals at Horsey Ill check your video out. Cheers.

My son works in the fisherman's return. Winterton on sea is just the next village for me it is one of the most beautiful villages around this way, and the beach walk is absolutely amazing.
Oh wow that’s a dream job for me if I lived in a small village!
Loved watching this, it brought back many happy memories. I taught at the village school ( didn't see it on the video) in the 80s, my first job straight from university. What a lovely introduction to teaching it was. I've been back many times!

Hi Jack love your video we came on holiday last year fell in love with Winterton and brought a house in that week and moved from Surrey 3 months later no regrets it’s an amazing place to live

I did my Geography degree dissertation at the dunes on Winterton beach, I havent been there since I did it, back in 2006. At the time there was a cafe right on the edge of the beach on a sand cliff, wich I believe has now been lost to erosion
No way, that’s so sad, but you can tell just looking at the cliffs how much erosion there’s been. I think it’s even worse in Hemsby
We have lived here 7 years, love it, people are great. Fish and chips wonderful

Hello, my partner lives in winterton and its a stunning village. Its mostly a quiet village on bank holidays and the summer season, as you can imagine. Sadly its mostly holiday lets tho! You can go to the top of the church certain times of the year also 8.53 is a holiday let, run by witerton cottages. There is a guy who does stunt planing i think its called and makes shapes with smoke from his aeroplane which can be seen on the beach most weekends sldo. The seals get in the dunes mostly in winterton but mostly are at Horsey.

Thanks for the video. Winterton is one of my favourite places, and although I live about 120 miles away, I make sure that I visit for at least one day every year. The Winterton Valley Chalet Park is on the south side of the village, with plenty of accommodation to rent.

I visit with a group every year from London. Highlight going to dunes at night to stargaze and have a few drinks fly kites.

I have been to Winterton many times on photographic trips, it is a very peaceful place. There are many cottages for rental in the village and they are very dog friendly, it it a place I recommend for a peaceful, leisurely break. Good video and commentary Jack, the drone shots give a good overview of the village.
