Hey guys, I have one of these. 10spd with the active exhaust, carbonized grey with the night pony package. It's fantastic. Every drive is a fun time. Paddle shifting the10spd in sport or track mode is way better than I thought it would be. A symphony of V8 goodness. Lots of compliments from friends and neighbors, folks love it. Nine months and 3000 miles, and it still as solid as the day I got it. It has endeared me even more to Ford, thinking about the Explorer ST for my next family hauler. Your friend should get the base manual performance package, supercharge it and have a blast.
That’s funny I actually traded in my 22 explorer ST for my 24 gt A10, because my wife preferred our f150 5.0 as the family hauler. The f150 was a lot more comfortable, better visibility etc. I’m still not sold on the paddle shifters on the gt, but this is my first mustang coming from driving an sti for 7 years. I plan on using the auto to learn the mustang and I’m gonna trade it in 3 years once I have the money to get the 6 speed with all the packages I want lol they get pricey. 😅
Oh, I did! I got a fully loaded GT Premium performance package with a MT. Sometimes I regret not getting the Darkhorse for that tremmec transmission, but I love the car and can't wait to get that whipple installed!
I had a 2014 GT and a 2017 GT. I've been overseas for a couple of years and haven't seen these newer ones in person. Do they look better in person than in pictures/videos? I'm not digging the styling so far
If I did want to buy a new Mustang, the Dark Horse would be out of the question because of the price. I would go with a White Base GT, manual trans, active exhaust and rear spoiler delete. Add on Ford Performance Super Charger and new wheels. Low profile clean look, fast and fun.
I've been daily driving my 2019 Bullitt for the past 4.5 years, it's been lovely and doesn't have to only be a weekend toy. The only thing I wish it had would be adaptive cruise (they removed it for the Bullitt) and the Tremec. Other than that, the s550 gen is still fantastic and the new gen is more like a heavy refresh
He should get the premium GT Mustang. It’s an exciting weekend cruiser with more than enough power, handling, and style. Also, with the money he saves, he can use it to mod the GT or take the family on vacation.
I think the answer isnt dark horse or base gt. I think the oerformance package is where its at. You can get magniride with it and it comes with much improved cooling and brakes as well as stiffer dampers and sway bars and a k brace. Much sharper but can still be had for 20k less than the dark horse. 3k in steeda upgrades and you could run with the dark horse on a road course no problem. Great compromise
In America the top optioned GT is about $10K less than a nice optioned Dark Horse. The GT with Performance pack and the AE exhaust + the 401A interior is ~$60K where you can get the Dark Horse for around $70K.
Yes you are right, lower trim it doesn't mean automatically that is worse, in my opinion that material on seats looks good. It's awesome that they don't put V8 on shelf. That amazing sound of V8, love it, it's so sad that more and more companies drops V8 for V6 or sad sad engines like inline 4 cylinders bi-turbo hybrid (Toyota I look at you) for especially 4Runners and pick ups they don't give even a choice to take V6 =( and for Land Cruiser, yeah that hybrid system is enough but it's not V6 or V8. We live in stupid times =(
Only downside with the Toyota’s is a drop in towing capacity. Vast majority it doesn’t matter, in exchange you get better economy and better power delivery. People can cry it won’t be reliable purely because it has less cylinders, while ignoring the world record Tacoma 4 cylinder.
0:03 I bought the GT premium with a 401A package in white with the bronze package brembo's red active exhaust 10-speed 48,000 aftermarket heat extractor on hood and rear wing and swapped out for summer performance tires I couldn't see how the Dark Horse would be any better for the price increase
I hope I’m able to buy one before production of a V8 mustang ends, at the moment I’m still debating wether to go GT or spend a little more for a Dark Horse, or another edition if Ford releases a higher performance trim in the future
lol a base with pp and some extra goodies can still run you 1k a month if you don’t have 10-15k to put down. The biggest problem with the dark horse is the 10k markup so many places have. Also with the limited availability of something breaks under warranty you may be waiting months for the part to fix it.
I always love your guys reviews. I'm looking for A 2022 Subaru BRZ t-shirt in blue to match my car. Also have you thought of putting the rear end of the cars on the back of your shirts? There are some sexy back-ends out there...
I’d be torn between: the less than perfect non Tremec 6spd which has been a weak point but would still be fun to daily… or the bulletproof 10spd which is awesome at putting power down with which my wife would frequently borrow it. Maybe after my MkV Supra I may decide to get a GT with Ford performance supercharger🕺🏻

Unless your buddy is an enthusiast and is passionate about all the extra touches that comes with the Dark Horse then I’d say he should go for the GT. Bc then I think he’ll get his moneys worth in experiencing that GT. Personally I’d go for the Mach 1, a bit more rare and I do like the extras that are built into it.
I actually ordered mine and I got the GT premium but with cloth seats, I did that because the hot climate I live in I didn’t want the leather and I really dislike the look of the dark horse. I’ve done drag and drives with mine and it does really well
The 2024 base car is awesome and it is a fair price in today's market. However, the price of options is out of control now. I own a Canadian 2020 GT PP2 401A, MSRP was just over $60K but I purchased it during the Ford Family Pricing event in Sept 2020 which brought the purchase price down to $49.8K and 0.99 interest for 5 years. Here we are 4 model years later and the only way for me to match the PP2 suspension is with a $94K Handling Package Dark Horse.
Get a 24 5.0 mod it twin turbo or supercharger it, or keep it stock and tune it, ppl buy mustangs for the potential power you can get from it. I love my 24 can’t wait to tune it!
I personally like a nicely adult driven GT 350 if you can find one...otherwise, this yellow one works and just do some simple tuning to get another 20hp out of her.
Honestly I love the dark horse, but the Mach 1 is such the better deal in the long run. Its $40,000+ cheaper, often cheaper than the base s650 GTs, and has most of the same performance goodies. you could get a mach one, fully build the motor and make 1000whp cheaper than getting a base darkhorse. And even get the s650 style headlights and whatever other mods you want
Don’t like the separated screens or the cloth seats. The Darkhorse is better looking but if you’re not going to the track then it’s a waste of money. Also if you live up north, you need to stay away from the summer only tires unless you have a heated garage. If you don’t want your car to scrape when you’re backing out of your garage, get a GT and don’t lower it.
Thoughts on this or the Elantra N? As for this one. I'd say make sure your friend gets the Valve exhaust. I'd also save the Dark Horse money (Even though it looks better and the interior is cooler) and get the Mach 1. It out performs it from what i've seen.

My biggest gripe with the S650 is the rear end. I just hate how it looks. I think the front looks killer but that rear end is gross. To me the best looking GT is the 2015-2017 S550
There's something to appreciate with a lot of designs but that rear is almost g87 M2 bad. It's...almost a square with a plastic diffuser. It looks worse than the camaro rear. The s550 was beautiful the black between the taillights iconic.
I consider getting this car for my wife as a daily driver; 30 kms round trip to work and back
Yuri make a G35 coupe shirt !!! I will def buy
shirt is live thestraightpipes.creator-spring.com/listing/japan-luxury-coupe-for-driftin?product=46&variation=2744
I like the yellow horse you're driving, she's a beautiful car 🐎 💛
Love my Mach 1 with appearance and handling package! tell your buddy, the mach 1!
I ordered a 2025 gt premium fully loaded, great balance between comfort, style, and performance, wish I could have the tremec
Cost?
@@prasad1204 i honestly dont remember, I only was able to test drive one, still waiting for it to arrive, its close to 80k cad I think
You can pick up the tremec and swap it once your warranty is up for like 4-5k if you have the manual already.
@@lucian7182 Unfortunately its a lease
GT350 is the obvious answer here. Definitely not biased or anything though...
Ford should offer the Tremec as an option for thr GT
Oh, I did! I got a fully loaded GT Premium performance package with a MT. Sometimes I regret not getting the Darkhorse for that tremmec transmission, but I love the car and can't wait to get that whipple installed!
I agree I have a 24 Mustang GT premium and I wish I had the option to put the speedometer in the middle no matter what cluster I have
I didnt realize how funny the names of the shirts were haha nice job Yuri
Thank you for the review, giving me ideas for my future mustang
I had a 2014 GT and a 2017 GT. I've been overseas for a couple of years and haven't seen these newer ones in person. Do they look better in person than in pictures/videos? I'm not digging the styling so far
No, they don’t. Honestly at this point 11-14 is the one that has my eye and heart.
I think they peaked in 2017 design wise, since then it's been bmw grille with Camaro tail lights
They do but they still don't look that great in brighter colors in my opinion. They look good in darker colors.
i think it depends on the spec i got a base model vapor blue with the dark horse package and it is stunning in the sunlight
I like this newer version way better than the previous
Oh my god, please make a Lexus shirt. I would buy it ASAP IS500 or RCF front
I just like the cloth seats over the top end seats.
I'd buy the heck out of a shirt that explores the possibility of the SportTrim police SUV
For a base model, this is amazing
I found a base GT with PP, Brembos and active exhaust for about $45k. Excellent base model foundation if you're looking to mod.
Yuri - I need a MK8 T-shirt in red please!!!!!! Last manual sealed the deal for me.
here you go thestraightpipes.creator-spring.com/listing/mark-8-german-hatch?product=46&variation=2741
The base GT is a great value with periodic employee pricing, the only option I would take is the performance exhaust.
Have a Yellow Gt Premium manual with active and brembos and it's a great car!
In America the top optioned GT is about $10K less than a nice optioned Dark Horse. The GT with Performance pack and the AE exhaust + the 401A interior is ~$60K where you can get the Dark Horse for around $70K.
Depends on the dealer. Some are jacking the prices up to $90k. Even at $70k, that's Corvette territory.
most are, even though ford has stated not to do so. I would just get a corvette at that point.
Have a Black GT a Yellow GT Preformance and the Loaded Dark Horse... and the DH kills it all!!!
0:03 I bought the GT premium with a 401A package in white with the bronze package brembo's red active exhaust 10-speed 48,000 aftermarket heat extractor on hood and rear wing and swapped out for summer performance tires
I couldn't see how the Dark Horse would be any better for the price increase
I hope I’m able to buy one before production of a V8 mustang ends, at the moment I’m still debating wether to go GT or spend a little more for a Dark Horse, or another edition if Ford releases a higher performance trim in the future
@@BryanAnguiano Don't break yourself just to get a dark horse. You will end up paying over $1,000 a month for it
lol a base with pp and some extra goodies can still run you 1k a month if you don’t have 10-15k to put down. The biggest problem with the dark horse is the 10k markup so many places have. Also with the limited availability of something breaks under warranty you may be waiting months for the part to fix it.
Hands down Mach 1 much better choice. The instrumentation on the Mach 1 far better integrated than on the GT in the video or dark horse.
The name of those shirts are top tier
That yellow looks good.
There is still a manual v8? YEAH BUDDY!!!
S550 Mach 1 for sure. It also looks much better.
Dark horse and 2024 gt front look way better than mach 1
I always love your guys reviews. I'm looking for A 2022 Subaru BRZ t-shirt in blue to match my car. Also have you thought of putting the rear end of the cars on the back of your shirts? There are some sexy back-ends out there...

I’d be torn between: the less than perfect non Tremec 6spd which has been a weak point but would still be fun to daily… or the bulletproof 10spd which is awesome at putting power down with which my wife would frequently borrow it. Maybe after my MkV Supra I may decide to get a GT with Ford performance supercharger🕺🏻
At the end of the day, V8’s just stir my car-loving soul in a way my Stg2 B58 never will, even though it’s adequately swift with about 420 whp on pump93
the 10spd is NOT bullitt proof.
@@KeithSchwerin by no means have I researched it extensively. I test drove a previous model GT with a 10spd auto and it was great. I’ve only seen videos on UA-cam claiming that the auto trans holds power sufficiently even when boosted
I have a 24 a10 and it’s ok. I like it better in my f150 than I do my gt. I plan on selling the gt 3 years and getting a manual with all the packages I wish I had. Once the warranty is up I’ll buy the tremec and swap it.
2:53 agreed this is piss poor yellow
the only issue is the diff, you want 3.73 gears min. otherwise base model with active exhaust is the pick
Thank god mustang soul is kept!
Good job guys. Sorry Jakub, but Yuri is right on both counts: the Dark Horse will lose more $$$ after a year or two, even though the depreciation % rate will be much less and modifying cars IS for children... but then some of us never grow up
You were right Yuri, a convertible GT for the weekend is a good option. Just spec it well
Except my friend specifically doesn't want a convertible so Yuri is wrong
@@TheStraightPipes So I just talked to Mr. Friend and they thought a convertible was actually a coupe, LOL! We slapped each other's knees and discovered the convertible was what they wanted after all. He told me Yuri has a beer on the house next time they see each other.
A convertible version of a sports coupe like this is blah.
If your buddy isn't going to track it, they should get a previous generation Bullitt. You get the better transmission, but without the extra track goodies.
American cars always Wonderful.
Nobody ever mentions this but the insurance price goes up substantially with a Darkhorse.
I would buy Acura TLX A spec/Type S T-shirt😍
Just a fun ride man!! I need one of these!
I would option this with just the magneride and call it a day.
And the valved exhaust
@@phetogokgathi4217 yes, I meant to this particular optioned car. This already comes with the valved exhaust right?
@@JaideepVaidya22 It doesn't, that's a $1,225 option I believe. Although the car sounds great already, it's fun being able to toggle through the modes, and increases HP as well so I myself would check that box
When you pressed the "horse button" the entire button panel moved ALOT. Ford quality folks.
That entire panel is meant to move
Yuri, if you make a shirt for any of the following BMW’s I will buy one (or all three): F87 M2, E88 135i, e46 m3. Love the shirts.
Facelift GLI 2022-24 t shirt, please!
Really like the discussion
great review. I am a little put off on manufactures just attaching these tablet style "info tainments" to the dash. It seems a little lazy as opposed to integrating to an actual dashboard layout. Great engine and drivetrain for this stang though.
Jakub knows really good his friend.. The one that wants to buy the Mustang!! 😁
I too, don't like the yellow color on this Mustang design. Right on Jacob! Additionally, and I will probably endure the wrath of some; Jacob, you need a new partner....
DH for me. If a car is heavy it still needs to handle well.
I'm wondering how good the Dark Horse is selling. Around me the GT350, Bullitt and Mach1 all held markups for a solid 18 months or more before starting to sell for MSRP. the Mach1 and GT350 2+years at many places. The Dark Horse around me is already being listed a few K under MSRP and used ones are going for 7-9k under their original Sticker. It makes me feel like dealers just cant move them.
2023 looks so much better still.
I got a request for you guys, find and review a bone stock 94-95 5.0 5 speed GT, and in the same review compare a performance pack 2011-2014 3.7 v6 6 speed manual and a 2011-2014 gt manual...you'll find that when it comes to Solid axle rear mustangs the s197 is a refined and way better version of the 94-95 GT...from my own experience the v6 is the perfect comparison with the coyote being the cherry on top
You guys did an amazing job on this review! I own a 2021 Mustang HPP fully optioned for the track. My opinion is I really hate the new gauge screen, I think it looks so cheap and bad. I also think it lost a lot of mustang look on the outside and inside. I do like the switching between all the older mustang gauges though, I have owned the fox body as well as a 94 and 96 GT, as well as a 99 Cobra, a 2006 4cyl and now my 2021. I would say this new mustang looks the least like a Mustang and more like a Charger.
Previous owner of a 2016 GT premium here and I agree. Hate the cluster in my friends new 2023. I think the 2018 is THE one to buy with the optional valve exhaust and PP2. Also just me but I like the looks just a bit better too.
My vote is for a previous gen Mach 1, or GT with the performance pack if your friend doesn't care about the tremec.
