    Hi Joe! You're famous now 😂 You know you are working on Quinn's car when you get more anti-seize on your hands than dirt and grease- during the dismantle! Great video, love the banter.

    So happy for this video, only white NB I can find on the web

    I've always found it easier to drop the diff with the PPF still attached. Then I can remove the bolts, insert, and sleeve on the work bench with a lot more room. Then I don't even have to remove the threaded inserts.

    I'm so glad I caught this video the other day, as tonight I removed the diff on the wrecked 05 turbo and remembered you have to beat those rear PPF bushings out top and bottom. Bottom was easy, top was awful, for a rust free, 45k mile car.... I'll email you some pics of it, if you'd like to see them?

    I'm still so jealous of this car. I'm still wishing I hadn't sold my Miata. At least I can always get another one and have it along side my new Fiesta ST!

    Dude your the rx7 god I subscribed based on the first ten seconds. You would like my idea of finding a rebuilt title new body Miata and putting a N/a 20b in it.

    So if I build my car to 180 whp and use a 97 NA five speed with a 4.1 rear end I should be able to reach 140 mph?

    I have the same issue on my rx8 6 speed gearbox.. it's been 4 years that it's making that annoying noise when idling in neutral and now it started leaking oil.. there are no affordable used spares here in italy and now i don't know what to do..

    Why is clutch type better than Torsen? Thanks!

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  6 років тому +2

      It's not that it is better per say, it's really just a matter of preference. I find that I like the lockup characteristics of clutch types better than Torsens. They aren't as snappy on the initial lockup and require less effort to keep the car balanced smoothly in an oversteer situation.

    As always, awesome video man!
    Quick question, Do you know if the later axles (the teal ones that you have) are compatible with the older style differential where the axles are bolted right on? I bought an older LSD that has the bolted style and my NA has the teal axles. Wondering if I need to use the same style axles to mate up to the differential or if I can reuse my existing ones.

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  6 років тому +1

      All 1.8 axles are interchangeable as far as I know except for MSM ones I believe.

    Love this car. Any reason you used those clear reinforced hoses in the engine bay instead of black rubber fuel/oil grade hose

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  6 років тому

      Most of these catch can kits comes with just clear non-reinforced rubber hose. Those hoses tend to weep vapor at the barbs when they get too hot. The reinforced ones stand up much better to the heat. Since it's just oil vapor, the fuel rated hoses are not really necessary. These have been holding up for years.

    Shame that you didnt go with vvt head from the beggining. But yeah i know at the time you couldnt buy vvt cams, and ms3 was still in development. We have similiar setup but i have more toruqe under the whole curve with less power, thnx to different header and vvt. Mine really starts to pull strong around 4800-5000rpm. Are you planning to do airbox setup ? Now in summer days intake temps are 20-25 degress C over the ambient and i can really feel the power loss and the whole engine sound little different. Reverie in UK makes some sexy carbon boxes...you should check them out. I will probably go for Zolder model.

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  6 років тому +1

      I may entertain running an airbox. They really do work well. Honestly, this car is ultimately going to wind up with a K-series. Just kind of curious to see how long this engine setup will last.

    • @kolesidisgiannis
      @kolesidisgiannis 6 років тому +1

      When K-swap time finally comes, do you think you'll go with a K20 or K24 block?

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  6 років тому +1

      Probably K20, since the car is already light and I want the higher RPM.

    9:20 where did you get that center console? It looks so nice. I am looking for a clean one as the hinges in my 99 center console are broken.

      It's a stock center console that I wrapped with Redline Goods Nappa leather interior wraps with green stitching.

    Why do you like running the 16 inch wheel better than a 15 inch on the NB?

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  6 років тому

      It's mostly for aesthetics. The 16" Advan RGII just look a lot better in 16" vs 15" to me. Plus the NB wheel arches are a little bigger and fill in nicely with a 16.
