Hey Braunblech, it's funny to see you here! I know you from other channels like SPS or mxfive.at The Mx5 Community is well connected. Even here in Germany. Greetings from Hannover😁
Great video Greg. I just want to say that I just got my Miata a few months ago, and within the last week I just finished replacing the timing belt and water pump thanks to your awesome tutorial video. It took me 20 hours to replace the timing belt and water pump although I am only 16. This was also the first time I have ever worked on a car before and I did it with no help and minimal tools. My number one piece of advice for someone with no experience like me would be find a friend or acquaintance who has worked on cars before and have them help you. (P.S. I live in Florida and have no garage so another thing I learned is that I need to buy one of those tailgating tents and a big fan lol.)
currently running a 15x7 ET30 with some 195/50/15 on my NA. Its got way better fitment than stock and is still light. Did not want to roll my fenders aswell. Super happy!
Good video. You missed the part about debris getting caught in the pinch of the lip roll, and over time rotting out the fender. Maybe treat and protect that area beforehand!
Currently my only mx5 is a bone stock 51,004 original miles hardtop '93 LE #1263 sitting on the factory 14" BBS wheels. Sold my '96 but it was in 15x7 motegi with 205/50r15 uhp tires, was on megan springs & koni adjustables rode & handled great.
As I reflect back on this , I am so happy I pulled my fenders and did not cut and fender flair it ... I just love the stock body pulled out wide look better than flairs , but don't take it wrong to anyone running flairs they look hood to I just like that u are able to pull stock enuf to tuck meet without have to use bolt/weld ons ... n e ways peace n love to all stay safe and radical and build on 🤘🏼💪🏽🏎✌🏽
Bought some 15x8 et0 With 195/50 a couple months ago, currently rolling the fenders and reference your video constantly. Thanks for all your quality content.
I love my 15x7.5 TR motorsports CM's, wrapped in some 205/50R15 Yomohama S.drive's. It's not the craziest thing in the world, but I don't rub at all with my Tien coils on their lowest possible setting so I'm happy
Gliss On unrolled fenders, about 1/2 a finger (1/4 inch, not much at all) of wheel gap, and they are inboard of the fender by maybe 1/2 an inch. Looks very clean, functional, but not rediculously stanced
@@Glissskate That setup will be very fitted. I used to run 15x8 +0 with 205/50's and the fitment was so good. Decent amount of fender work required in order to be at a lower ride height.
On my NB1 I'm running 15x8 +35 Konig dial-ins, with 225/45r15 Nitto NT01s. I only get a slight rub at full send through a corner, slightly lowered on coilovers
Had a 1999 10.Anni with 195/ 50 R 15 Hankook RS 3- 222 Semi slicks. Was OK, enough grip for all situations on a public road. Was also runnig perfect straight at full speed here in no speed limit Germany. Test drove the latest NB with 205 - tires. Straight line performance was not perfect so it seems 195/50 is the best compromise for a ( stock / Bilstein ) NB Miata if driven full speed. Now I have a ND with street legal big brake kit front ( K sport forged 4 pot ) so it was necessary to add 20 mm spacer for clearence the calipers to the stock 17" aloys what I want to keep. Actually I just bought a 2. set of stock 17" alloys for semi slicks. Straight line performance is still OK with the 205/45 tires, dont want a lower profile to prevent demages. Car has also the stiffer springs from Eibach ( Mazda - original item here in Germany ) and Bilsteins from factory.
New Intro is goooolden dude. Right now my miata is still waiting for wheels and tires but i want to run a more or less conventional 15*8 setup since with german TÜV-requirements there is a thing called a "Verschränkungstest" that you would neeeever Pass with that setup you run but you'd have to or no road legality.
I just realized I have the EXACT same 15x10 et25 Joengbloed rims in black on my red Miata! To be fair by the video post date you ran them first and they look very clean in brushed.
Yo MD i just wanna say i rolled my fenders last week, with A LOT of help from your video! Im running what i call "a miata starter kit". MeisterR coilovers, with 15x8 +25 949 6UL. I had to roll the fenders, because i was going into an uphill parking lot turning right, and braking. Instantly grabbed the lip and pulled it down. luckily it didnt bacon the fender.
I did exactly just this a couple years ago. I rock 15x10 6ULs and 145 Maxxis tires on my NB2. My advice would be to cut the tab at that top of the fender lip before rolling and pulling. I actually ended up taking my car to a fab shop and having them make a pie cut in the front fender so I could pull it out just a tad bit more and now I have all the clearance I need.
14x7 Enkei rpf1 +19 offset, with Sumitomo all season mini van tires in 185, 60 profile ftw! This was hilarious pre turbo, now it's scary, so need to upgrade!
Im running a very conservative set up, 15x8 on 205s with +25 offset, im not SUPER low (probably around 1.5 fingers of wheel gap) but surprisingly this still would rub on fender liner at full lock (like in parking lots) and squeak super loud so i removed it. You could just notch out the section of fenderliner but living in southern california it wasnt much of a worry for me. I just pull my wheels off and clean out the fender well every few washes. Loving my current fitment but will eventually need adjustable upper control arms in the back due to too much negative camber for my liking. *I do have a mild fender roll*
Ideally I would want to add spacers to the rack for more steering so might be thinking about 15x10 in the back and 15x8 in the front so no barrel rub hopefully
Hell yeah good trick with the coilover removal and seeing full compression. I run advanti storms s2 with hankook rs3's and followed your old video on fender rolling.
Currently on 15x7 et28 with 195/50/15 ns2r tyres, no running at all... but ever since I saw you put 10s on yours I want wider wheels now aha so thanks for the info 👌🏽 great video
I have 205/50/15 continental extreme contact sport tires on 15x8 +25 jnc 013 eBay wheels, just barely rubs in the rear at the height I’m at, need to roll the rears to go as low as I would like
I have White 15x8 +20 Rota grids on my 1996 Miata. I got them because I always loved your original setup. I need to get a more aggressive roll on my front fenders as well as raise my ride height a bit because I hate the sound of rubbing on top of the fenderwell on hard compression.
15x9 +36Konig dial ins with a 225 NT01. Love the set up and almost never rubs. I do miss my white Rotas tho. 15x7 with a 205/50/15 star spec. Great combo for a stock power NA.
Stock 7 spokes on 8 year old, bald, and mismatched tires. Waiting for my Coronacheck to order 14" RPF1 to mount the Falkens sitting in my closet. (I've given up looking for a clean set of OEM 14s)
As a recent NB owner I am super happy that I found your channel, every video is awesome. So it turns out that I am obsessed with the 15x9 Advanti S1+ 225/45 fitment on the NB2 with a lowered setup. I have read as much as I can on the subject but still unsure if I need to roll the fenders for a reasonable drop, I reallllly don't want to, the car I bought is unfortunately too nice. Any feedback would be dope.
It depends on the offset of the wheel, but a 225 can be done on the NB with little to no fender modifications. I have a more recent vid on my channel about installing 15x9 FM Kogeki wheels with 225's, and I haven't modded the fenders yet
i run 15x8 195/50s 0 offset on my na. mint fitment could go wider in the rear the front is almost perfect with cut knuckles and a rack spacer, only just rubs the upper
Dope video as usual Craig. I've got a 94' with Jongbloed 15x9's with 245's and I don't rub. Is the inch wider wheels with the same tire size a significant benefit?
Been running NB1 wheels with 205's (not aggro) just fitted some 205/50/15 rivals (retired, hue, autoX tires) to a set of 15x7.5 +35 Dekagrams (class limit for wheels) I race on 15x7.5 +35 225/45/15 rivals (class limit on wheels and tires). Only a light roll in the rear, and tabs pulled in the front.
Got some Japan Racing JR3 15x8 with 205 50 on it with a +25 offset. would love to run a 225 but will have to play with offset a bit i think. (in Germany we have to stick to the stock circumference of the tire ) Have a very minimum roll on the fenders (partly because i f*ed it up with too tall of a roler and do not want to roll more) and tugged the liner tabs in a little to clear in the front. Been following since the old days and love the content Greg. Please keep it up! - cant wait to get my DIY Ebay turbo kit finished and shared on insta (Thanks for the Story share btw :) Much love from Germany
Great topic! WHat about NB, the arch clearance should be better where sportive 16inch wheels with slightly bigger diameter are fitted. NB2 ownsers! How is your 15x9 setuo with 225s and waht ET offset? How much is car lowered? Shooting for 6ULs 15x9 ET36 with 225 AR-1 very soon.
I’m currently running 15x8 0 offset w/ 205/50 front & 215/50 rear. I had to slightly camber out the setup for me to fully clear my fenders. But in the future I really want to run, 205/40 front & 215/40 rear so I can lower it a little bit more for a cleaner look. I have watched your videos about rolling fenders and thanks to you, my miata looks the way it is now. Haha but fitment industry was the reason for the wheel/tire setup. 😅
For Miatas specifically: GoodWin Racing says on their site what fender/camber modifications are needed for the wheels they sell (with recommended tire size). Don't need to but from them either lol
Looks amazing, but this is a little hardcore for me. It's why I ultimately chose 15x7 6ULs with a 195 width tire. For a street car with stock power, this is more than enough and it's pretty much plug-n-play for any year Miata. I have yet to hear or see any rub with completely stock fenders/liners. It doesn't get you too much street cred, but tire options are plenty for a 15" wheel and it looks far better than the stock daises that so many NA6s came with. I also like the extra ground clearance they gave me, because streetcar. In the future, with more disposable income, I could see going to an 8" or even a 9" inch wide wheel. For now, I'm pretty content with the setup.
@@MigetBatman fantastic I'm hoping to start tracking my car soon so I'm looking to get some good grip without being stupid wide. Thanks for the info :)
I run a smaller setup, as I use my miata for drifting. Its a 15x7,5 in all 4 corners with 195/50 tires. The offset is +26 in the rear and I have a 5 mm spacer in the front so its +21.
I'm running 225 R1Rs on 9" 6ULs in the warm months. NB with light roll. No rubbing ever. Note that a Miata on 205's has more tire width per ton than the new Corvette. Bigger tires are more prone to hydroplaning, so maybe don't run them to the cords.
Great video on fitment and getting more. Saving it for future reference. My NB is currently on 15X8 6ULs with 205/50 tires. It's a very nice street setup as is , the car is lowered and there is no rubbing at all. I like it but I want wider once these are worn. With those wheels I plan on going to 225/45 all around. Maybe this summer, it will depend on how much I get to use the car, right now my "touring season" (road trips and vacations) is looking grim because of that damn virus.
I've been stuck between a 15x9 & 15x10. As AR-1's are pretty much the only tyre I can get in the UK in those sizes and seeing how nicely they fit on the video, I might go with 15x10's. But I'm only pushing 305bhp so they might be overkill. But they look beastly! Great video!
work meister cr01 15x10 +7, poke setup, wheels don't clear my 6 piston wilwoods. this setup worked fine on my previous miata with autokonexion flares but they went out of business, so i got rid of the flares. now i need new wheels.
Got 8j 15et with 225/15r and yeah I rub but I've just got belstone dampers fitted on lowering springs.....came like that when I got it I so need to fit my coilovers
Just fitted some Enkei RPF01s 15x7 et28, and a set of Uniroyal Rainsport 5s 195/50/15, not a crazy size but they look good on my silver NB 1.8, just need to get coilovers!
When I do get mine I think I'll run 15x8s, with either ET10 or ET0. I'd obviously prefer the wider of the two, but my top priority is no rubbing whatsoever under any real life circumstance. I don't want that car to be any short of daily friendly. Luckily that seems to be very much doable. Also where did your rear badge go?
15x9 6UL shod in 225/45 BFG Rivals on an NB, very low. Stock fenders, not rolled. I'd like to fit 245/40 on these wheels, need more traction, 338whp. Probably gonna need a mild roll right?
Im running 16x8 +35 with 205 45 on stock suspension on an NB It rubs a tiny bit on the back at full compression so im just gonna fold that lip and should be good to go Those are my "daily" wheels so its good enough. When I get coilovers I'll adjust from there and same if I get a wider set of wheels and tires. I won't be going that crazy thou plus NB's have a little bit more room.
I'm hoping to fit 235/50 in rear and 225/50 in front on 15x10's with stock suspension (for now)... First step; wide body! Nasty roads here so want as much sidewall as will fit. Currently on 205/45r16's and much too rough esp when compared to fat 185/65r14 on stock wheels.
Jongbloed Racing Series 500 15x10 ET+25 w/ Nankang AR-1 245/40R15
Perfect 👌 much appreciated ❤️
thanks big homie
Great video on fitting them fatties! My fender roller was too tall for the miata, so I just did it with the ol' hammer
I'm not sure if I can approve this comment 😂
Donut Media you have to disconnect the rear suspension to fit the fender roller
Same problem! I just modified my roller to make it shorter!🤘

Great video as always! I’m currently running 16x7x40 with spacers on my na 🤦♂️ but definitely looking to upgrade to some 15x9 soon 🤞
Man thanks for the fitment pic webpage. I wish this was around 10 years ago.. that’s perfect to see it before you be it.
I run 205, 45 (I think), r15 re71r alll around. I might go up to 225 keeping everything else the same and roll my fenders. Awesome video!

Running 17x9 +45 245/40 RS4 on my ND. Only rub issues are at full lock and fender liner because of the caster.
I've got my 1990 na6t on 15x9 +35 advanti storm s2's with 225 45zr15 Goodyear gforce tires
This was the set up I was thinking about running on my S1's, how is it working for you?
@@ezzyn6523 it works fantastic! Tons of grip and no rubbing
@@MigetBatman fantastic I'm hoping to start tracking my car soon so I'm looking to get some good grip without being stupid wide. Thanks for the info :)
I love how raising your car is never an option.. NEVER! :D
I run a smaller setup, as I use my miata for drifting. Its a 15x7,5 in all 4 corners with 195/50 tires. The offset is +26 in the rear and I have a 5 mm spacer in the front so its +21.
17x9.5 with a 255 40 tyre 👌🏼... good info freg 😉
I'm running 225 R1Rs on 9" 6ULs in the warm months. NB with light roll. No rubbing ever. Note that a Miata on 205's has more tire width per ton than the new Corvette. Bigger tires are more prone to hydroplaning, so maybe don't run them to the cords.
omg this video is a gem. Thank you!
My dream setup for my Miata is 13X8 Watanabes with some negative offset and stretched tires. I just want to be a stance boi. (Lol)
Congrats on 100k!
work meister cr01 15x10 +7, poke setup, wheels don't clear my 6 piston wilwoods. this setup worked fine on my previous miata with autokonexion flares but they went out of business, so i got rid of the flares. now i need new wheels.
15x8 205-50-15 on a na, no major issues even if I go super low. I think the widest I'd go 225!
It reall ydepends on the tire manufacturer. I saw 165s which were wide as 185s from other manufacturer...
Greg I’m running 15x9 with 235R888’S all 4 👍😊
You always have such informative videos
Running this pretty rare setup right now, pretty special never seen anyone else run it. 15x7 Enkei rpf1s , 205/50r
now I'm def. going to do 245/40s with a 15x8 0mm gives me the excuse to grab that wide body kit I've been eyein lol
Cut fenders and widebody.
Congrats on 100k!
Currently running 15x9 Hypergrams with 225 RS-4s on my NA. Pretty common setup, and I think it works great.
Got 8j 15et with 225/15r and yeah I rub but I've just got belstone dampers fitted on lowering springs.....came like that when I got it I so need to fit my coilovers
Congratulations on the 100k!
And thank you for this! Have a Miata that rubs on 205s (previous owner). This gives me faith 💙
I got some 26" on my mountain bike
Come on man get with the times, everything is 27.5" now!
bas kelder I’ve got a 26” beach cruiser with the ol’ eBay special 2 stroke engine kit.
@@gavinrichman8610 you dont have to flex on me that hard😂😂
bas kelder 😂
@@gavinrichman8610 80cc? It's the way to go
1990 16x8 et38 245/35/16 no rubbing without liners. can we petition toyo to make these tires again, nobody makes this size any more
Just fitted some Enkei RPF01s 15x7 et28, and a set of Uniroyal Rainsport 5s 195/50/15, not a crazy size but they look good on my silver NB 1.8, just need to get coilovers!
Very awesome tips and tricks greg🙂 will come in handy one day
When I do get mine I think I'll run 15x8s, with either ET10 or ET0. I'd obviously prefer the wider of the two, but my top priority is no rubbing whatsoever under any real life circumstance. I don't want that car to be any short of daily friendly. Luckily that seems to be very much doable.
Also where did your rear badge go?
If I go with a 15x9.5 in the front with the same ET you have, do you think I will get contact with the inner barrel?
15x9 6UL shod in 225/45 BFG Rivals on an NB, very low. Stock fenders, not rolled. I'd like to fit 245/40 on these wheels, need more traction, 338whp. Probably gonna need a mild roll right?
Nice video , keep pushing and building we look forward to more content
hey great content. you explain this so much better in details. i learned a lot today
Im running 16x8 +35 with 205 45 on stock suspension on an NB
It rubs a tiny bit on the back at full compression so im just gonna fold that lip and should be good to go
Those are my "daily" wheels so its good enough. When I get coilovers I'll adjust from there and same if I get a wider set of wheels and tires. I won't be going that crazy thou plus NB's have a little bit more room.
Whenever you use grease you are using a red grease, which red grease is it that you are using?
I'm hoping to fit 235/50 in rear and 225/50 in front on 15x10's with stock suspension (for now)... First step; wide body!
Nasty roads here so want as much sidewall as will fit.
Currently on 205/45r16's and much too rough esp when compared to fat 185/65r14 on stock wheels.
