    Once the axle was lifted the tire center moved from the center of the tool and therefore the axle center. Maybe arrange the arms of the tool vertically when taking your fitting measurements. Or better yet, remake the tool with three arms to keep the tire centered with absolute certainty to ensure valid measurements.

    Just a helpful hint. Borrow worn out tires that are to be recycled from a shop. You likely will be allowed to borrow a few sizes. Surely, they’d love to have you as a customer and may price match.

      Buy the tire you want, and use the fitment tool to determine the correct rim to make your tire fit. You don't change/borrow tire sizes to see what fits. If I want to run 33/13.5/r15, that's the tire I want. I'm not going smaller or taller to make something fit. I buy that tire and attach the fitment tool to determine rim configuration.

    I have a question. I just got your wheel fitment tool in the mail and set it up inside my 275/50/15 tire. I plan to run a 15x10 wheel which is what is recommended for a 275/50/15. My tire only measures 8 inches wide. If I’m using the tool, it seems that my measurements will be off given that my actual wheel will be wider than the width of my tire (at least the width it is before mounting the wheel). Can you explain how this will impact the measurements?

    I don’t have an assortment of Tires to sample. Would a person just take the car to a tire/wheel shop and find out the wheel configuration for the widest tire that will fit inside the wheel wells?

    I thought this tool would help you figure out you tire and wheel size, but in the video you already have a tire. How did you figure out the tire size?

    Most people need to know what size TIRE to run, as the tire is what will contact the frame and or fenders… not the wheel. Correct me if Im wrong but wont this tool require people to go buy a bunch of tires in sizes they only “think” they may want?

      i had the same thought, i don't believe tire shops will allow me to "borrow" some tires for fitment of a new wheel.

      @@greggelko2422 Yeah, still hoping someone clarifies for me because it just doesn’t make any sense. Unless Im understanding this wrong - it seems like the only thing you can do without spending a fortune would be to go to a junkyard and buy a whole bunch of junk tires in different sizes.

    It's a neat tool, but with only two points of contact, it appears prone to misaligning the center of tire.

    Why are you calculating anything? Isn’t the purpose of the numbers on the tool for us to not have to “meh-zhr” again. This tool is horrible. It’s flimsy and the wing nuts gouged my Wilwood Calipers.

    You guys are making this way more complicated than it is. You DO NOT keep changing tire size to see what fits. This fitment tool configures your rim to work with your tire and vehicle. Decide what tire you want to run, buy it. Attach the fitment tool to the tire (set to rim diameter and rim width you would like to use) then onto the vehicle hub. Use the adjustable slides to determine offset, backlash that fit the vehicle. Check fit in the rear and front when turning the tires lock to lock. Once you have rim specs that fit. Tighten the slides and remove. Use the measurements on the fitment tool and some basic math, and you know what rim size will work with the tire you want.
    E.G. I want to run a nitto mud grappler 33x13.50r15, with a 15x10 rim . I want the tire and rim to stick outside the front and rear wheel well. What rim configuration do I need to get that look? You then use the fitment tool and adjust it until I achieve the look I want. Check for any interference or rubbing issues adjust as needed. Tighten up the slides and remove. The fitment tool now shows exactly what rim configuration I need. You could fit front and rim sizes quicker than it took to type this. Super simple.

      😅 not quite that easy with hotrods for tire size options and wheel options.

    • @chrislrocks
      @chrislrocks Рік тому

      @MADFORCE32 It is exactly that easy. That's the only reason I bought it. One note that the fitment tool does not fit over manual (warn) front locking hubs. I just milled out the center and was good to go.

    • @Axial32
      @Axial32 Рік тому +2

      @chrislrocks3280 it's not that simple for neither of the 69 camaro or the 67 firebird that we are building. One mini tubbed and one stock tubs, both lowered. Tried many different tire sizes to get the most tire possible underneath without rubbing. Then, from there, we know exactly what wheel specs we needed.

  • @stephencarr7173
    @stephencarr7173 Рік тому

    Very sloppy and imprecise. Some wheel fitments are very close and require measurements down to around a 1/4 inch to prevent rubbing. First, you would need 4 mounting points to ensure the wheel is mounted in the center of the hub, and not canted inward/outward. Second, taking the rim measurement off an adjustable clamping point such as this, and then trying to then get an accurate backspace measurement from that just compounds the error factor. Third, the marked increments on the tool are useless, and you would need to use a tape measure or suitable measuring tool to even get a rough figure.
    By having such a flimsy tool that you can't apply any pressure to without distorting the measurement, i.e. weight, turning clearances, etc. this tool is not useful IMO, or at least, I haven't had much success with tit.
