If you put a layer of 1m thick foundation under the water, you can get the water extractors to snap to the grid. I felt your frustration with placing them, and kind of lucked into figuring this technique out.
I build a foundation, and place a pipeline splitter on the foundation. You can now snap the water extractor along one dimension with that pipeline splitter. I also use a foundation on the opposite side, and slide the water extractor to where the railing just touches that backstop foundation. I have now placed a water extractor with high precision. Having placed one water extractor, I can now snap new water extractors left and right of it.
I would recommend using a parachute before you get a jetpack and a fuel source going. The parachute is actually overpowered, because it can basically climb any wall with less than an 80 degree incline, it removes fall damage, and it call functionally increase horizontal jump distance. It's also really cheap, because it's in the Mycelia MAM tree. You can choose not to use it, but I find it to be extremely helpful in the early game for exploration and vertical traversal.
18:38 I don't even bother using my Xenobasher on creatures anymore once I learned you can kill them when driving a vehicle. My 1.0 build is called _The Great Dying_ because I kill every creature I run into.
I was hard drive hunting when I found this place, and I happen to have the alternate recipe you mention. The hunt ended abruptly. I am now stuck with building a massive power factory. Fortunately there is limestone nearby too, I was running out of concrete fast ^^!
If you use the heavy oil residue alt recipe + diluted fuel alt recipe + nitro fuel alt recipe with 600 crude oil + 800 heavy oil residue + 1,600 water + 1,600 fuel + 800 coal + 1,600 sulfur + 1,200 nitrogen gas, you get 2,400 rocket fuel/min🤌 Also, if you're feeling...feisty...and for around 3,600MW extra, you can somersloop the nitro rocket fuel blenders and pump out 4,800 rocket fuel/min effectively doubling your total power output from 143,750MW to 287,500MW. It's 460 fuel generators running at 250% if you're up for it.
I've been doing a *lot* of exploring lately, and getting pretty familiar with the whole map. It's a new experience for me to be watching someone leave the grassy fields and for me to recognize everything I'm seeing.
When mining Caterium, I always put the smelting at the drill site, as you have a 3/1 smelting ratio and each ingot then goes on to make a LOT of quickwire - it's most efficient to transport long distance in the form of the ingots
Things i learned in this episode even after beating the game; 1. right click on zip line and it locks. 2. There’s a toggle wheel on cables for other power source builds
I don't know if it's tied to your sprint being set to toggle instead of hold, but on the zipline I just have to tap shift once and I will always go the faster speed along the lines. I also support using power towers with a platform every time so that if I fall off or see something I want to explore/collect, I can just hop right back onto the line from the nearest tower.
You really only need to get 1 water extractor running, and a couple coal power plants... that'll power getting the rest of 'em going. Maybe! Also, exploring with the platform power towers + zipline is much more satisfying. As long as you don't fly off while trying to land and place the next one. :)
You might actually want to skip turbo fuel, there's so much oil there that a basic fuel setup will not cut into any other production and rocket fuel is just *so* much better. And with the alternative recipe, also dead simple to set up. I haven't even yet bothered to re-use the compacted coal side product yet there's so many resources there.
I would make a collection of photos of roof designs you like. Like doing image searches for “decorative contemporary roof”, “brutalist roof” or anything that strikes your fancy. Keeping in mind, humans rarely see roofs and when we do, they look bland. Check out how boring cities look from a 2D satellite view. If every building is the same height, they start to blend together too much. Naturally this same problem exists in a game. (I do like mixing flat and slanted roofs with different levels part way. Like Eichler roofs are often two or three parts, even if they are simple in their visual language.)
0:47 "1.210 MW" - or 1.21 Giga Watts , yes this is a back to the future reference The Blue Crater is crazy good , it has an insane amount of good ressources in it and close by. You can easily climb from the start of the game to Phase 4 with just the stuff in the Blue Crater alone.
I think the "Temp" marker when scanning is the Multi-Node thing that appears in the top of your screen, to show there is more than 1 node a significant distance away. They don't seem to appear if you're close enough
To get the water extracters to be even i use a look out tower next to it and it will lock to it. No need for underwater foundation. Plus i have a tower to see above and arrange things
There seems to be a bug with vehicles that let them return to a place used in a previous route, even if autopilot is deactivated. I have had an explorer that did the same. I had it running coal for a co-player to demonstrate how routes are set. Deleted the route, deactivated autopilot and still it always ran to the coal miners up in the northwest. A real pain if your hunting hard drives in the east and south. Simple solution: put the fuel from tank to inventory and drive it empty. Then it will stay put until you figure out how to correctly turn off autopilot and delete the route terminally.
You can put a Splitter directly ON a conveyor lift? That is news to me, that can save a ton of space instead of having it snap to the front of the lift.
Just letting you know the alt recipe for Rocket fuel is 100x better than the base version that is compacted coal and Heavy Oil Residue. It also makes Compacted coal and you can use that for whatever like weapons manufacturing or making more power. A full 600 pipe of Rocket fuel can make an upwards of 36,000 MW (I rounded up). The whole Blue Crater Region is perfect for manufacturing things like weapons to whatever else like some of the best parts in the game or just necessary building materials.
Been have so much fun with 1.0. Still haven't complete Phase 3. Taking my time on the build. Using structural parts in unconventional was they were meant for really gives you a ton of options.
If your looking at compacted coal. Clock the coal power plants to 105Mw. I regularly build compacted coal power plants and recycle it latter. Good luck in your game looking good for a start. :)
You did a method using a barrier, clipping a wall over it, and then running the wall up to the bottom of the power connection and then running some wire to a connectors under the power block. Looked hella tidy.
Hey - Been loving the videos. I recently have been getting into Satisfactory and your videos have been a huge help. I have a question though - I hear so much about MK 4 belts and how thats the turning point in the game when factories get good, but why? I assume its cause of how fast they are but im wondering if you would ever consider making a video outlining how to make a good start of a base using MK 4 belts for us noobs haha either way, thanks again!
Spitters have 100% accuracy, even if you are moving or flying, the only way to avoid is to change direction AFTER they fire. I think it's in need of tuning to be honest. That said spitters and chargers are easy to deal with when you get "the knack", spiders? Specifically the giant ones? Act like HOMING MISSILES. After 100 hours in my 1.0 save I just turned off aggressive animals, there are far too many of them, and they are far too lethal. It was making me want to stop playing every time I went to explore and I had the rifle already. Not even going to get in to the frustrations of how some of them seem to have 10x hp, or the poison ones. They need to tune them down.
I guess his Ep 02 didnt upload, which explains why the gao seemed so long! Hopefully, he'll see these comments and figure it out! Love the work, TX! EDIT - just realised this isnt the Guided Plauthrough this is the starter factory playthrough. It all makes sense now!
22:57 I don't think making Ionized fuel for power is actually worth it. The machines it takes to make enough power shards will eat up almost all the power you'll get out of it. For my 1800/m Rocket fuel plant I made in this spot I'd need 23 Quantum Encoders constantly making Power Shards to turn all of that into Ionized fuel. That's 23 GW of power drain on average right there, not even counting any extra prerequisites (or the sheer amount of space required). It'd add about 44 GW of power output (before counting the aforementioned 23+GW of power drain), I'll just build a second round of Rocket fuel if I'm running out of power.
When you are setting up these smaller facilities how do you decide the ppm I feel like that's where I get lost. I can put together a full factory line but trying to make out post that I can use later for other construction is where I get lost
Hi TotalXclipse I like your videos about Satisfactory and I learned a lot from it When is the next videos coming out on this Series You gave us : 1. The Perfect Start - Satisfactory 1.0 Guided Playthrough Ep.01 2. The Starter Factory - Satisfactory 1.0 Guided Playthrough EP.02 3. This is The PERFECT Spot - Satisfactory 1.0 Lets Play Ep.03 (This one) What is next or is this EP.03 the last one of this Series?
It's coming I had a month off due to various things, still getting back into the swing of content but planning to do Ep.04 recording this week ready for the following week to go live
For anyone else scared or just plain annoyed with the hostile mobs there's a non aggression setting where they only attack if you attack first. I've turned that on for all my saves now because lets be honest, this isn't exactly the sort of game where you enjoy combat. I like it when I'm just out exploring, adds some danger. But once my factories are spread all over the place and I travel quite a long distance to get to them (but not yet travelling everywhere by hypertube network like a boss) it just gets annoying as hell. It's perfectly valid to just play with aggression off, it makes life a lot more comfortable on that planet.
Great episode! One question though... Shouldn´t there be 16 coal power plants or am I missing something? There is only 7 in one of the lines if I see it correctly :/
This blue zone I plan on turning into a weapons factory, and my main oil plant for fuel. I'm going to make a power tower that runs 24 generators of power. I don't know if that's enough but it'll be a start 😁
I’m just about done building my powertower there. Designed to look like an oil rig, and sports 40 refineries making heavy oil residue into 32 blenders making diluted fuel into 32 blenders making nitro rocket fuel. That then fuels 1152 fuel generators. The total input is just 1200 crude oil, 3200 sulfur, 2400 coal, 3200 nitrogen gas and 3200 water. Blueprints all the way :)
@@jaredscott1416 288GW and then subtract the amount of power used for the machines making the rocket fuel. @@jaredscott1416 it's actually very clean with blenders - it's split into 4 sections in the same building, each section has 10 refineries, followed by a row of 8 blenders, followed by another row of 8 blenders. It sort of feels like "just add water and mix" and you get glorious power.

It is so hard to build super neat, it takes so much planning and patience, and if you don't already have the mindset for it, then it's even harder to do! I wanted to do the exact same thing and ran into the same problem as you lol! I wish you luck :D
You have very cool ideas for architecture, but you don't show the whole process of building factories and I understand why. Is there any chance that you will repeat these factories in a series of guides?
I won't repeat the exact factory design, but my guided playthrough goes much more in detail to the whole process - you can expect the second episode to be released soon
I like your videos but for me I think the shouting and screaming at times when you get a bit too exited is hurting my ears.. Playing with head phones and all...... Or maybe it is that I'm not 12 years old anymore which could be it...
I really hate how this channel (and the satisfactory reddit) keep making this stuff - the game is about exploration and finding stuff out - learning how to do things.... not "this is the most efficient way and the only way to do it and if you dont do it this way, minmaxing, you're lame".
Some people like a little bit of guidance and inspiration. Plus it's a factory game like factorio. I've played factorio and taken inspiration and blueprints for different things in the game. You can play the game your way but gatekeeping people from wanting to play their own way and get some help every once is a while is whats wrong with you.

I remember the Parachute being a consumable. Guess that changed some time ago
Yep I didn't know it had been changed to be non consumable, until after I had a jetpack with fuel. It would have been amazing early game.
Ladders and parachutes. A match made in heaven.
Throw in a rebar gun and you can basically conquer the entire map in the early game.

I won't repeat the exact factory design, but my guided playthrough goes much more in detail to the whole process - you can expect the second episode to be released soon
You can windup nobelisks?????
We skipped episode 2 oh no lol
No, it's just not labeled episode 2, it's called Perfect Starter factory in update 1.0
dude why do you sound like stampy
Your satisfactory content is beyond confusing. Between the 2 different series going on and the different titles its rough
Agreed. And how did we get power augmenter in episode 3 when I've been playing for weeks and I'm not even close. What.
💯
I show how I did that in episode 2
@@Dapeach_Once you find some SAM and Somersloops it's trivial.
@@Dapeach_ Skill issue, I completed the game including all achievements within two weeks
I like your videos but for me I think the shouting and screaming at times when you get a bit too exited is hurting my ears.. Playing with head phones and all...... Or maybe it is that I'm not 12 years old anymore which could be it...
im early, wait what?
I really hate how this channel (and the satisfactory reddit) keep making this stuff - the game is about exploration and finding stuff out - learning how to do things.... not "this is the most efficient way and the only way to do it and if you dont do it this way, minmaxing, you're lame".
Some people like a little bit of guidance and inspiration. Plus it's a factory game like factorio. I've played factorio and taken inspiration and blueprints for different things in the game. You can play the game your way but gatekeeping people from wanting to play their own way and get some help every once is a while is whats wrong with you.
