I own pretty much the same car. It was my fathers too. He passed in 1983. My mother drove it for a few years after then I got it in 86. It now currently has a 351 c with a top loader and a 9” rear. Still a work in progress, but a lot of fun
Always loved the 79-81 Mustang Cobra's, especially in the Turbo 4 configuration. Remember, back then, the Turbo 4 had more power than the 302, which did not get the beans until it was brought back in 82. And from that point onward, it was a horsepower race between Ford and GM. To my eyes, this is about the most beautiful, well executed early Cobra I've ever run across. Subscribed!
@@cobrabuilt I agree with Michael, such a beautiful combination for this year. I grew up in Detroit and in 1985 had a 1982 GT Mustang I used to run. Near my work there was a Ford Engineer who had built up his 1979 Pace Car GT, it had the best exhaust note when opened up. Did you say what gears you are running in the back? Great looking car, you have obviously inherited your Fathers good taste in vehicles. EDIT: @ 10:22, 2.45 gears in the back, great combination with your gearbox choice.
As folks blame Biden for high gas prices, they forget during Reagan's era gas was so expensive Hot Rod Magazine put on its front cover the V8 was dead, the Buick V6 (when it was just a t type) was the engine of the future. Hence Ford's investment in the Pinto OHC engine. there were the rare GT models, the GT350 models, the Pace Car. by the time Ford took the idea all the way with the SVO, the V8 was back, gas prices dropped, and the GT 5.0 was just cheaper and faster to tune. A truck engine with a cam in a tin can of a car, it made the aftermarket invest in the Windsor engine again.
While I was in jr. high I talked my mom into buying a 1980 cobra. It was medium gray metallic and basically a pace car look alike. I think it too was a 1 of 1. Why? Well if you look at the books and the specs, the turbo 4 was only available with a 4 speed manual. However back in 1980 Ford was working on getting EPA certification for the automatic. So yes it was hard to track down but mom found a turbo automatic hard to get and not listed in the books. I have never seen another. Car ran good on a cool humid day. Did not have the quarter window "cobra" decals because of supply issues with that particular decal we were told in the day. Your cobra is really nice, enjoy!
I love your car brother. Graduating in 1989, the Mustang ruled the world, with the 5.0 GT beating everyone else, & the 5.0 LX Hatch beating them, & the Cops in Florida using the 5.0 LX Trunk to run them both down 😎. Have you ever run up against a 5.0 Mercury Capri, my best friend had one that was wicked fast ? Keep the videos coming, I enjoy them immensely !!!
The other really nice thing about not having a/c is the heater core is literally right behind the glove box. It was like 6 screws and 2 clamps under the hood and out she came. 15 minute heater core job. I love my 85 too and the weird little things that go along with it. I had a 15gt deep impact blue also. I sold it and built my 85 over the last 3-4 years. My notch has 37k miles on it and it would absolutely kill me to have to sell it. All the work me and my mastiff have into it over the last 5 years and memories are irreplaceable. My cervinis cowl hood is getting painted as I’m writing this. He said I’ll have it back this week. Cool videos 👍.
Yeah my 80 stang came with factory ac heat core went out had to rip the whole dash out what a mess broke a lot of stuff doing it dash held on by string and zip ties
I had a rare 93 black on black fox coupe that I should’ve kept but it needed everything plus paint and ran into financial issues and had to sell it😢 regret it everyday!!!! Gonna get another fox though cause I’ve had like almost 10 and I love them, so much fun to drive👍👍

Your cobra is stupid clean, I love how the outside looks stock (minus wheels) but the body looks 100% factory, I'm doing the same thing with my pace car if I can ever save up the money for paint. I have a 4.6 2v stuffed under the hood of mine though it sure is a fun screamer.
Excuse my language here but I'm going to say Chevy lol. My grandpa (mom's side) bought a 1969 Chevy c10 new off the lot. My grandpa (dad's side) also owned the truck. Currently my dad owns it. Neither of my grandpa's are here today. Beautiful car btw
Just subscribed. I really like your car and your content. I just have one thing to criticize in your video. At 1:30, you call your engine a motor. Motors run on electricity and engines run on combustion. Other than that, it’s great to know more about the car I’ve been enjoying in your videos!
Now that’s a car handed down from your dad…I got a 1979 toyota celica lift back 5spd from my dad when I was 19…nice car but it wasn’t an amazing cobra like this!
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but there's an 80 Cobra for sale in Belgium, same color combo, Recaro seats, and...rear wiper. So 4im not sure why the Marti Report would mention that.

Sweet, crisp, fast, fun car man I'm bout to do a build on my fox if like some pointers on a similar setup to yours if you care to share with a fellow foxer I got a 91LX I've done everything to besides engine combo but anyway if you do let me know and I'll give you my email we can email one another thanks man!!🤙
