Nothing beats a 68 grill without the fog lights. The best! 👌👌

I think the 1967 Shelby front on a lowered car would look menacing and a real beaut!

The best-looking nose is the 67 Shelby with the inboard headlights

Subjective, do not expect any kind of consensus. Here are a couple of comments on this video. Note I own a 68 Coupe.
    1. 68 Front End: My 68 Coupe looks nothing like what you presented. What you have presented is a base bone 68.
    A. Bumperets: The bumperets shown on the 67 are also on my 68. Love this feature.
    B. Fog Lights: I have Fog Lights that are separated on each side of the Pony in the corral. Love this feature.
    C. Hood: My hood has turn signal indicators, this was not on every 68. Love this feature.
    2. 68 Hood: To get the Air Scoops on the hood you need to sacrifice the turn signal indicators. I'm NOT willing to do that.
    3. 67/68 Front End Turn Signals: Turn signals are located directly below the headlights. In the video you were wondering if the lights adjacent headlights were turn signals? They are not, I don't know what they are, again, the turn signals are directly below the head lights.
Summary - I like your direction because you are building what pleases you, that is exactly what each one of us need to do. I believe what you may have missed is that Ford produces several different levels of Mustangs in 68 (and every year). My Mustang is Sprint that contains lots of cool stuff not included on base models produced that year. If you are interested I can provide you with a link that shows all the different levels produced in 68 which will show the trim levels associated with each, but yeah, not as straight forward as you presented.

Super great info! Yeah probably not an exhaustive study of all the possible options but generally I was comparing the over all front noses. Thank you!

@@ScottHarness1 I'm no expert, I thought the video was great but I just wanted to add comment. I think you did a great job producing the content.

I gave my thoughts before I watched the whole video. I don't like the 68 Shelby hood for the same reason you mention, but I also don't like the hood scoop either. But there is a hood as I mentioned in my first comment that doesn't require the fiberglass nose section.

If you watch some of the documentaries about Carrol Shelby and the Shelby Mustang with the GT lights in the center for 1967 they had problems with radiator not getting enough air movement and the cars ran hotter. So they moved the lights out to ends of the grill to allow more air movement through the radiator.

That is a really cool fact. I can see that .

Yes, the inboard headlights caused the issue you mention, as well as, some states didn't allow what Shelby called the inboard headlights on the early 67 Shelby's.

Pastor Scott, because I had a 67 Shelby GT350, I'd go with the 68 style grill, and I'd get a 67 Shelby fiberglass hood that's shortened to fit a Mustang without having to buy the Shelby nose piece that's extended a few inches longer than a stock Mustang.

Gonna look sharp either way! I lean more towards a bullit style grille with 67 Shelby hood that doesn’t require the nose piece but that’s me! 🤷🏻‍♂️ Good luck and God bless sir!

That’d be less money as well… I’m still in the decision phase. Trying to figure out the cost verses the return.

I think your choice is best .Iv'e never liked those Eleanor's, some people are always wanting to make classic cars look different just because they can , I'm generally not into what Chip Foose thinks looks good , for example , when he was doing his version of a '70 Cuda , he felt that the sharp angle of the drip rail on the C pillar needed to be smoothed out the same as on a Challenger , the sharp angle is what gives the Cuda it own distinctive look , and I prefer it. He also felt that the front wheels needed to be moved forward for aesthetics, I never thought that was needed.

Of course, opinions are subjective, but for me, the 1968 Shelby front end is the one! Not crazy about the fog lights though.

I like the way the headlights are recessed on the 67 better but they both look great.

    i have a 65 coup with a inline 200 6cyl
have a 289 out of a 67 mustang i also have the 67 rear end but the axel is 2 inches wider than the 65
before i sell axel would tires fit in wheel wells of the fast back conversion kit
also am rebuilding 289 to Carolle Shelbys Cobra specs for this car about 310 to 320 hp
if i cant use 67 rear end what rear end and gear ratio should i use as i think the 6 cyl rear end will not take the torque of the cobra engine
    great job Scott
and Bless you and your family

    • @ScottHarness1
      @ScottHarness1  2 місяці тому

The 67 rear end is wider, I’d sell it and go with a 8.8 out of a ranger, or explorer. You can get 410 factory gears and 31 spline axels as well as disc brakes. Much better axel than the 8”.

Pastor Scott, the 67 Shelby doesn't have a front valance. The whole nose is one piece of fiberglass that extends the front a few inches longer than a stock Mustang. Edit: No, I don't like the Eleanor look at all.

I’ve always loved the look of that front end, but using fiberglass components freaks me out. I’ve just seen so many with cracks and spider webs in the paint, that I wouldn’t want to sign up for that on my car.
