Cold War goes Spicy Chemically Hot | Regiments

- This'll be the only video on the channel from the campaign as unfortunately the campaign decreases in quality as it goes on and the ending doesn't actually reveal anything. Big spoilers if you care: the ending is literally just that a cease-fire gets called and it teases future factions. It's a fun RTS primarily hampered by the campaign's quality. At the start the campaign was intriguing and interesting and by the end I was just bored with how many enemies they expected me to kill while providing no story. Normally the multiplayer would make up for the lack-lustre campaign, but this game is single-player only.

Ballistic missiles with the funny warhead is the best way to describe them I’ve ever heard.
Mods pls 🙏 add the funny warheads, if enough land turns game into floor is lava
NonCredibleDefense called, they want their funni back.
Canned Sunshine Express Delivery, you mean?
@@spinax22 ayyy
I mean… how else do you describe it without saying what it is.
Those mission briefings had some really hot lines for an RTS.
"Ammo is in high supply. *Mercy is not!* "
Ikr? :D
It’s nice when historic war games:
Have counter batteries,
Require planning well in advance,
Have phases/lengthy operations,
and allow you to violate international war laws.
i agree with number 4, it's very relatable
Steel division 2 is good too
Ah yes screw the Geneva convention.
@@accursedcow1312 *Geneva suggestion
"Make the Reds dread the coming night" has to be my favourite line ever written
The “Despite logistical issues, the ammo is in high supply. Mercy is not.” Line kinda goes hard ngl
@@Waddedupnapkin It do go hard
@@Waddedupnapkin And then came the Ukrainian Farmers.
@@Waddedupnapkin A very Soviet thing to say.
I feel like that should be an SAS slogun.
Not to worry, the Geneva suggestion can’t keep Rimmy unrestrained for long. Long live the commonwealth!
Damn, I know I'm supposed to be against the commonwealth and all that... but this comment is just so incredibly based.
It’s never a war crime the first time
you mean the Geneva checklist ?
@@snibetisnab211 I still remember hearing in a DnD session "Dude, I know the Geneva Convention is basically your bucket list, but even you've got to admit, what you just did is probably taking things a bit too far."
War crimes war shmimes
0:11- 0:15 Can we petition the Armed Forces to make this the official command that plays when warning of an impending attack instead of a siren?
I pray to god someone mods this into the game
@@timthndr2996 I would so love that if you zoomed into one of your units as that pops up you hear from that veacle that line spoken. like its the veacle crews reaction.
HAHAHA, The thought of hearing something like that, over the PA system seconds before the C-RAM opens up, made me chuckle
"INCOMING BALLISTIC MISSILES?! WHAT?!" *wheezes*
It's certainly the correct response.
21:13 Shilkas are radar guided (see the radar dish on their turrets) so smoke shouldn't really affect them
7:50 that was cluster munitions AND willy-pete on the same position, you've scored a War Crime Combo for extra points!
That's the neat part, CMs aren't banned in the 80s, and using WP for smoke is allowed. These -atrocities- special military strikes are 100% legal.
@@bobtank6318
Damn sha- Oh well, good then 😅
@@bobtank6318 CMs aren't really banned now you know. Most of the EU has and a bunch of other nations but the US, Russia and China haven't even even signed nevermind ratified the convention. The US even abandoned it's initial plan to develop CMs that aren't a civilian hazard and will continue to use the old ones.
@@XMysticHerox Fair point, but the convention itself didn't exist back then. Besides, Rimmy's playing as Germany in the first op.
UM AKTLALYY IT WAS SMOKE ROUNDS 🤓🤓🤓
It went from a somewhat intrigue laden story to just metal song one-liners.
Rimmy: “Whats with these sirens arent they a bit over exaggerating”
The game: *TACTICAL NUKE INCOMING*
21:21
In the words of the Cheiftan
"Oh my god, the tank is on fire!"
Erfurt is my hometown and Einsenach, Mühlberg etc. are all real cities. So weird to see them in flames. Amazing game Rimmy!
21:14
It's a AA tank with radar & radar assisted targeting,
Of course it can shoot through the smoke Rimmy.
Depends on the variant/model, to be fair. The actual ingame model at least doesn't *seem* to have the radar dish and such, at least in the video
@@GriffinMan00 The variant your referring to is the ZSU-23-4M2, otherwise known as the "Afghan" variant.
Aside from that variant there doesn't seem to be another variant used by the USSR that had it's radar purposefully removed as the "Afghan" variant was the only one unlikely to be facing fast moving aircraft for obvious reasons.
@@MazaAzi The Afghan version was, IIRC, a modification of extant vehicles, not a dedicated production run. So perhaps a radarless Shilka was returned to frontal service in Europe, but I doubt it.
"Ivan, I go to bathroom; do not touch Missile Launch button while I am gone."
"Dah." *Presses Button*
"Ivan, I said NO TOUCH Missile Launch button!"
"While gone! You are still here!"
"This is why officer bars you from having pet."
I like how ww3 was started because of a chemical spill which then resulted in NATO dispatching a freaking raiding force (complete with tanks and APCS armed with atgms). It's just so interesting and funny
Not even NATO, just the brigade CO of the Panzerbrigade 14. Because he got hit with chemicals and had his radio jammed by the idiots across the border.
So, funny detail about those Konkurs missiles that impressed you so much:
In russian, the word apparently means "contest". But it has a meaning in german, too. "Bankruptcy".
They're bankruptcy missiles. No wonder they hit this hard :P.
Also, the older missile it replaced was named after the russian word for a bassoon. You know, the big silly-looking woodwind instrument.
Not gonna post what the russian word for that is because YT would delete it, look it up :P.
It actually has a history (kinda), it’s in the Operation log section of the mission screen! You can see the story from previous operations you already completed, just click on the save and go to the operation log screen of the last mission phase and you see it all!
In the stream, he did click the extra info bits.
@@bobtank6318 Oh nice!
God I hope this video ages well over the next few months.
God please…😂😅
It will. If WW3 was ever going to happen, it would’ve been kicked off back in 1945.
Idk man those ballistic missiles were way too accurate, didnt even hit a school or so.
We can only hope
@@TheAKgunner well, history isn't over yet, there's still plenty of time for a good old fashioned world war.
So who else wants a part 2?
Me!
Cold War games are always the most fun Ngl; I love the vibe and the tech of the era
this isn't a game, it's a training program
Starts off video with imminent nuke sirens going off and then "INCOMING BALLISTIC MISSILES!?" really doesn't get any better then one could think.
with how the units merge together, I can't help but feel they took some inspiration from Endwar
10:54 Rimmy still remembers the ORANGE
It's interesting to me how much the map environment looks like so similar to the map environment in the ARMA op you did about the same scenario. High level of fidelity on the part of both creators I guess.
Tonight. (11:11, 24:06)
7:50 Cluster munitions.
19:39 Such misfortune.
Rimmys pronounciation of "bundesgrenzschützern" (lit. Federal border protectors. Basically border police officers) is amazing
Been waiting for this for awhile. Thanks for covering the game Rimmy!
Too anyone thinking about picking up the game, tt's definitely worth it. Game plays well and the campaign is a blast so far.
Perfect era to play a game with nuclear weapons.
"Who the fuck is launching these?!"
When in doubt, blame Belka.
I remember that stream, when BMP-1s told Leos to square the fuck up at point blank range
More Rimmy RTS makes me very happy.
Just looked up your channel for the first time on suggestion from a friend and you just uploaded! What timing!
Always nice to see a RTS vid from Rimmy
This game is a combination of World in Conflict and Wargame and I love it!
Ivan owed the other guy 500 marks and was tired of getting blown off.
Rimmy: Sees his entire unit get annihilated by spicy chemical weapons
Also Rimmy: Yoo that was cool
I love this game, glad to see you playing it.
I kinda love the storytelling in this, how it's completely impersonal and you're getting limited perspectives and fragmentary information to try and puzzle out this absolute clusterfuck of an accidental war.
0:11 has the same energy as the "TACTICAL NUKE! INCOMING!" from MW2.
I think it would be cool if one of these games had American terrain maps. There are parts of rural America that would be hell to fight in.
There is literally nothing of strategic value in rural American except for a small number military installations. Why even bother?
@@jamesharding3459 I understand that, but the terrain would be cool. There's also the fact that no one cares about small crop fields/villages in central Europe, but they still make maps of them.
@@Jack-me7kl Europe is small. You pretty much have to go through places like that to get anywhere of importance.
@@jamesharding3459 and?
This was a very fun watch. I'd love to see more of it.
Just got home from school. and I see a Rimmy video? this day just keeps getting better!
This game reminds me of one of my favorite games called R.U.S.E., but to be fair it was also one of my first.
oh yeah it was so good
ambush in forests
diversion whith planes and tank made of cartboard
and more importantly
spam the Katyusha
Bloody fun video mate!
Love to see the game has improved so much.
Wait, wouldn't smoke do nothing to a shilka? I thought their gun system was purely radar based.
Probebly annoy them and cause them to panic if they was under any kind of fire.
the radar probebly works 99% fine.
so they could still target airplanes but the crew would lose its MK1 eyeballs.
Love your stuff Rimmy
This game looks sick and cinematic asf
Coming back to this video, it reminds me of the book I just started playing called "The Third World War" by Gen. Sir john Hackett
I love how you didn't realize what the sirens were for at first.
Is there a list of all the music Rimmy uses in his videos? I'm digging a lot of the songs but it's a bit difficult to search through all his videos for 'em.
I'm at around the final stretch of the video so I dunno if Rimmy's seen this but there's a bunch of Story Logs on each Operation that bridge what is happening between each Operation. They're under operational logs when you're picking/repairing units.
So, it's not so much an RTS, but you might consider taking a look at Gunner, HEAT, PC! sometime. Kind of scratches an itch somewhere between Arma, War Thunder, and Ravenfield.
Also, with the mention of Sheridans, my home town actually just got its hands on a Sheridan they're going to be restoring as a display at our local Veterans' memorial center.
The mildly chilly war was quite interesting!
That tank on fire.
"I appear to have burst into flames"
I wanna see Rimmy play Army Men RTS some day.
Considering the warm weather clocked out at the end of its shift, a COLD war video is very applicable
12:59
Now I really wish the mission was like that. I've only played one strategy game that put me in a matchup vs past self (Frozen synapse 1), and it was one of the coolest things I've ever played, and I've never found another game that does anything close to that.
21:20 That some serious Iron Cross (probably posthumous) application shit is going on bro!😁
"You are BRDMs. You are not allowed to be doing this!"
19:40 and that's how Ivan went crazy
Rimmy really used the cloud on that one complex
17:35 "That one bounced!"
Using this for RTS inspiration
would love to see rimmy play supremme commander, its an old rts but its still a good and fun one
I misread the thumbnail as "Iran accidentally starts ww3" and watched the majority of the video confused
That feeling when YT doesn't put a video in your Notifications...
It only took 2 seconds before chaos to start. Oh boy.
Rimmy when smoke doesn't obstruct a radar lock
Pranks in the Gulag Gone Wrong ( Gone Cheeki! )
21:07 Shilkas are radar guided. Pretty sure that smoke isn't doing much to block radar unless it has chaff in it.
Good Job Ivan 👍🏻
New video pog
My t-72, casually relaxing.
The ATGM soldier seeing the side of it:
Hey Rimmy, if you're gonna do a bunch of Cold War RTS, I suggest World In Conflict. It's an oldie but quite a gem when it comes to gameplay.
That game is still one of my all time favorites. I'm still surprised there's not a skirmish mode.
Sadly, it's only on GoG and for multiplayer you have to download community mod/ server for it as the official services are gone.
@@spartnmarcen5110 There is a skirmish mode in it though, Just go to the multiplayer section and create a Lan game, then you can add bots in roles by going to the advanced option.
I really like the INCOMING BALLISTIC MISSILE
0:17 better run, better run, outrun my ICMB.
Rimmys new nemesis, The BRDM.
The war the A-10 was born for. The combined arms fustercluck around the iron curtain.
Feel sorry for the poor pilots though, A-10s were expected to not last long in the contested airspace of WW3 Germany.
@@Historyfan476AD Of for sure. Though really no frontline service was remotely desirable if the Cold War had gone hot. And a good chunk of rear echelon forces were also undesirable position.
Oh shit, I didn’t realize that y’all did Florida documentary’s.
21:22 it's just a lil toasty
If the artillery doesn't win the day, you ain't using enough
When you were reading the Ep.4 Iron Tide, i was wondering what if the history is actually developing behind the player's field of view, under a more classified action?
21:30 it's funny because there is a tank ghost rider, Tank 666.
11:33 "What did i say about those God D**n nukes!"
I wonder if Rimmy noticed that Terra Invicta dropped yet?
21:11 someone forgot about RADAR
The Shilkas have a targeting radar, of course they can shoot though smoke. lol
So funny thing the NATO reaction mission for me the forces i fought that were the east Germans had emplaced BMPS etc in the same spots i did in-between points cause the mission ended for me before I could move them to back up small fights elsewhere on the map while capping the last zones so it may try to put your east german forces down as best as possible.
21:06 too be fair, shilka has radar. no auto laser range finder though.
that was a legion of the damned leapord.
Once again suggesting Rimmy plays World in Conflict :D
Still looks downright incredible to this day.
Crazy to hear city names I'm very familiar with.
World in conflict and war game had a love child.
Shilkas shooting through the smoke does make sense as they are radar-guided AA guns, and unless that smoke contained chaff or other radar jammers the guns shouldn't be incapacitated.
"You're laughing. a man just got direct impacted with a rocket propelled grenade and you're laughing."
This is good 👍
21:13 its called radar, Rimmy
16:30 As if the Stasi don't have phone taps f*cking everywhere.
