I'm pretty sure there should be a chain roller where the foot peg mounts. Most Kawasaki dirt bikes I came across always had a bad cylinder, and starting in like 79 they can't be bored out, so I stuck with Honda CR's & XR's. I do have a custom 78 KD125 which I call a KDX125 as I built it using 74 KX125 gears, ignition & cylinder head.

Suggest you replace that shifter or it will wear the splines on the shift shaft then you have bigger problems and it sounds like the clutches are slipping in the video 40 year old clutches I’d say they need replaced definitely a cool bike Kawasaki was established in 1949 actually the first brand of the big four Japanese giants Suzuki came in 1951 and Honda and Yamaha came in 1955. But no other brand is better than a HONDA 🤙🏻.

Just watched your MX 175 vid and i honestly think you’ve had almost if not every old 175 made certainly all the good ones. Could’ve had yourself a nice vintage 175 collection when running right and they’re all little rippers and with doing all the work on them yourself cheap to fix and maintain. Just got to the part in the vid where your shifter was slipping and having had a couple KDX’s 175 & 200 i can tell you the shifters slipping are a common problem apparently cos they’re made from a cheap aluminium and wear out quite easily but a decent after market steel one will solve that. I’ve been told the kick not springing back is sometimes a problem people have had but I’ve never had it happen to me and i currently have a 94’ 200 I’ve owned for almost 20 years now absolutely bulletproof bikes.
