  • This wasn't a really hard installation and it was fun to do. Keep in mind it could take a couple of hours to complete the install of the Cobra CB radio and antenna. Just remember to take your time so you don't break anything. Also the metal in the glove box area is very sharp and I would advise putting some duct tape around the edges. I did that after but should have done it first, FYI.
    If you want another good video on how to install the same CB including the CB antenna go to CRAWLTV and here is the link to there same type of video. CRAWLTV is another great source to jeep repairs and upgrades so check them out.

    I am getting ready to do a very, very similar install on my 2012 this weekend. Thanks for the video, it's always fun to see what other people are doing with their Jeeps!

      I completely agree with you Curtis I always learn new info on UA-cam. Sometimes you come across an idea you haven't thought of. Thanks for watching by the way, and I wish you he best on your install. Let me know how it goes.

      Thanks again for the video! I just completed my install, and it was smooth and painless even with the threat of a west Texas storm overhead the entire time. First thing I tested after I hooked the battery back up was the weather radio function. Everything works great!

      That is Awesome Curtis and I'm glad you had a smooth install, and I completely understand the Texas weather.

    Where did you get the wiring harness for the 12volt to plug the cb into and the little plate with rubber grommet for the mic cable?

    • @Burnstravels
      @Burnstravels  6 років тому

      Is the plate with the rubber grommet a separate item to be purchased?

    Did you have any issues with heat and the cb cable behind where it goes thru the grommet to the box cable?

    Great video! I'm having a hard time searching for the proper ratchet extension to install the cb mount on the passenger side grab bar. Could you help? I search #3 extension and can't seem to find the right tool. Thanks!

      try a #13 long socket with an extension. I just watch the video and I said #3. I would try the #13, sorry about that.

    Hey good video. Where do you get the bracket with the grommet? I ordered the CB off Amazon.

      Stu Schultz if you look in the remarks section under the video you will see links to everything that I used and who I purchase them from it should take you right to the page. Thanks for watching if you have any other questions just give me a text

      I was referring to the bracket and grommet that goes into the dash. With further digging I found out that the bracket comes with the CB. If anyone is wondering. It doesn't say that in your description. But great video!!!...

      Mark Walker well it’s my only vehicle now I never intended it to be a ROCK crawler, However I do take it off road. I really need to do a video on that. Again thanks for watching.

    Curious if you have had any issues with using the harness? I read that you should connect directly to battery and I know you said you needed the space. Was curious if that’s how you are still running it?

      Yes it’s still working just fine. As a matter of fact I was using the CB yesterday 1/29/2019. Also so sorry I never say your question in my email. I guess better late than never. Thanks again for watching

    Nothing wrong with this installation but there are probably 100 ways to do it much easier.

    • @Burnstravels
      @Burnstravels  5 років тому

      Nun Ya completely agree but I chose this way. I could have done a direct to battery for power. Thanks for watching.

  • @midnightsun2483
    @midnightsun2483 6 років тому +1

    WOW. Kinda painful to watch. No reason to tear your dash out. CB needs clean power , just run power wire straight to battery

    • @Burnstravels
      @Burnstravels  6 років тому +4

      Well I was going to originally do that, I have a few other things that I will be doing that I will need battery terminal space. Also this lowers the chance of draining my battery and being stranded if I leave it on. That has happen before and I was in the middle of nowhere. However as you stated that would have been easier. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.

    Quadratec 12 volt harness is a ripoff ! It's $40 bucks and they charge you $12 to ship something that probably weighs 4 ounces . They won't even mail it using regular mail..They have to use a shipping company exclusively so you get ripped off on light weight items. I'll never buy from them. Lousy business practices. Your video is great...but Quadratec sucks !

    • @Burnstravels
      @Burnstravels  6 років тому

      Rere West well that’s the way I did it and I didn’t have a problem with the process due to the fact I bought several other things at the same time. The shipping for everything I ordered was reasonable. If you find it somewhere else cheaper please post it. I’m sure others would appreciate it. Thanks for watching.
