Thanks. The Cobra has died after a year of use. I now have switched over to a Uniden CMX760. Let's see how long that lasts. I have a video on that as well. Thanks for the comment.

Back when I was on the CB radio, I used to tune my SWR on the middle channels of the radio! So on a 40ch radio, I would tune it on Ch20 for an even spread of the tune. It usually balance out well! And I know this is an old video. But for others looking to tune their radio? This might help!

Thanks! With my new Uniden, there wasn't a really big difference between low and high channels. Thanks for the comment.

Calibrate SWR on channel 20 and then you cover the entire range optimally. And you might want to punch a hole directly through a tennis ball and slide it on the antenna to keep the whip from making contact with your paint while your off road.

That high SWR probably killed that radio. How does the new radio work? Are the swr’s even at ch 1 and ch 40?

Yeah! much better now. I think it was a 1 and 1.5 respectively.

Where did you get the grounding wire? What size are the terminals

I added about a two foot ground wire just on the inside of the rear quarter panel near the jack. I can't remember I reused an existing bolt or if I drilled a new hole. But either way, it is a good spot to attach a ground. As far as terminals go, i think I used these. It should fit through the bolt for the antenna connection. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BW3EJG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You need to go to a truck stop to find you a real CB radio. You are not going to be happy with that radio.

Thus the term trucker stop. The guy is not a trucker. He owns in FJ cruiser which he takes out periodically so it's not that important to have an oversize CB radio that won't fit in the cab.

This radio is perfect for wheeling rigs.. usually when I use mine I'm not trying to reach miles, I'm talking to the guy 4 cars ahead

I'm actually very happy with the new Uniden that I got. Like the other folks has said, most of my use is off-roading and most of the group is within 1/2 mile easily. I like the ability to remove the handset and it is completely incognito.
