I decided to install a CB Antenna on my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited so I can more effectively communicate between vehicles without using a cell phone all the time. This kit is all you need, except for the radio itself, to install the Antenna on the vehicle. Well, this and electrical tape! - Навчання та стиль
Rain will follow the antenna down to the coax Straight to the grommet, possible water intrusion into the tailgate. I’d suggest a “drip loop”, extended the coax an inch or two below the grommet.
I ordered this kit a few days ago, just waiting for it to arrive so I can do the install. My cb is already mounted, thanks for this video, it’s going to help me a lot
Thanks for the demo! We installed an antenna on our JKU this past weekend following your advice.
+Tina Chang great!!
Nice video, just finished installing the mount running the cable to where the radio will be and your video did make it much more easier..I am now waiting for the antenna to arrive as I had to order mine it two parts but the bracket and cable you used worked out fine. Thanks for a great tutorial!!!!
+prophotos365 thanks...god incouldnhelp
This was a big help. Thanks. I want to mount a ham antenna on my Wrangler, and I see exactly what you did. Thanks.
Thanks for the video, I was concerned about my antenna wire routing. I have the same kit for my CB. Great info!
great video! thanks so much for posting! will be using this as a guide when i instal my antenna!
I'm Sold, I will order one today !!!
Thanks for the great tutorial....

Exactly what I was looking for...... Now, I am installing the Rugged Ridge mount for the CB in the over head. Have to figure out how run the wire up and to the rear view mirror area. Thx!
Thanks for the tips! I was looking for a good video just on this topic and yours was AWESOME!! Thanks!
Awesome, glad to help
Great video! I'm piecing together my cb parts and about ready for install, this is amazing step by step ( I have a two door..but meh). I had a chuckle that you hid your licence plate in the first half of the video but fully viewable in second half . All the best from Paradise, Newfoundland Canada.
Mopar and Amazon should pay you commission! Your video gave me the instruction and courage to do this. Just placed my order. Thanks!
What size are the bolts? The mount I bought didn’t come with longer bolts. Thanks
Great video with a lot of good info... Though you may want to do a bit of research on "SWR" and setting up your radio's antenna. This is the method of electronically adjusting the antenna length to your radio/vehicle. Without having the correct SWR when you transmit, you WILL burn out your radio's transmitter in a very short time. Also the antenna mount does not appear to be a grounded. This will result in no ground plane for the antenna to reflect the signal. This will cause very short transmission distances and also help destroy your radio. As without a proper ground plane you will never be able to achieve a good signal or SWR reading.
+phantumdrummer good call
A trick : you can watch series on flixzone. I've been using it for watching loads of movies lately.
@Uriah Eric Yea, I've been using Flixzone for years myself :)
@@derekhenry1750 you two get a room to spam in.
Did you use any sealer on the grommet for the door? Any issues with water getting in etc?
only one mistake you did before you put it in that grommet you should have had it looped down a little bit because the water will follow that coax down and also try to leak in your door you should have put a little Loop before you put it in that grommet great job.
From my years of experience with cb radio. You should never run antenna coax with electrical wiring, it causes static interference. I know that seems hard to do but it's best for your cb experience
102 inch quarter wave stainless steel whip would be the best in regard to performance but this antenna does the job adequately.
+Don Gibson agreed
OK, With my laptop in my jeep with this video running I got my antenna installed and you cant even tell it's installed .... Again thanks for the video !!!!
+Joy of Lego awesome!! Glad to help!
Just scanning the tubes for ideas before I run a cable for a GMRS radio. Go Hawks! Just kidding. Actually a Big 12 fan, but K-Stater here.
I have a lot of friends with jeeps and I was just looking to see what might work on a jeep for a CB antenna... I always recommend a magnet mount for trucks and cars like the tram 3500.. and people get close to 15 to 20 miles range but Jeeps are the worst for anyplace to put a CB antenna,..... nice video but if you know anything about CB's that antenna can't possible work in that location you may get a mile range but even that I doubt...... the antenna can't be next to the body it has to be above the roofline.... what are you getting for range?
Good video man! THanks!
Thanks
Does the tailgate need to be grounded to the chassis?
When you are installing the antenna cable you do not need to drill a larger hole thru the rubber plug. Just use a little WD-40 on the cable and cut off the FME adapter. And solder on PL-259 male you will have lest reflex power on your unit. And if you tune the antenna, you will have 100% out and no reflex power.
+Varge30 good call on the WD 40, but I would not recommend cutting the cable if you don't have to
I have a HAM Radio (Yaesu FTM-300D) I will have to use a dual band 2 meter 70 cm antenna, I'm sure that mount will fit with an adapter. I think I'll get that setup or something similar. I have a Jeep Wrangler Sport 2 door JK 2018. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for making this video. This is the only one can find for the MOPAR JK antenna. Are you going to be installing an external speaker? Will you be using the Midland 75? That is the set up I'm thinking of going with. I'd like to see how your set up turns out? Nice looking Sahara. I noticed another jeep in the garage, why two of them, just curious? Do you plan on adding another CB to the other jeep or use the one CB for both?
+Chad Jones I have an older radio shack CB radio that I will be using. Similar size to the small midland radio, but I plan on using the CB's speaker rather than install a separate unit.
Great Video
did you have any issue with the connector fitting onto the CB? I just installed mine and the connector that comes with the cable had some bad threads or something. it kind of works but I'm not sure if I have good connection
+Clint Nelson I did not have any issue
Do you have a video that also shows how you ran the wire up to the CB and to power it on?
+Anzaloneification I do not, but I will see if I can do that in the future
That's what I was waiting for lol
Can you post a link to the antenna bracket from Best Buy? Thanks

How far does the antenna go above the top of the jeep? I park in my garage with a garage door opener, and want to know if I need to be concerned about the antenna hitting anything. Thank you.
Good Video....How long of a antenna cable did this take? Thanks
+A68170 about 20 feet I think
Actually I just installed one and it is 18 feet. Same cable...
@@wlh227 Where did you put your CB? Was 18 feet enough to install the CB up by the rear view mirror?
Do you have a video for the cb install?
No, but I might make one now
Is the antenna that comes with the kit tunable ?
No it is not.
Can you do videos on the Liberty too
+Davonte Martin I will probably in the future!
Hello: Not best location for C B Antenna, too close to body. I plan to mount antenna on top of front fender, open hood and there is a flat spot. You use a flat Stainless Steel mount, there is a 1/4 inch hole in firewall with foam you push coax through..I had a C B shop in 1980 so mo problem...These Wrangler's are the most C B unfriendly vehicles I think I ever seen. I almost decided to mount Uniden PRO 510 XL to right side on Console. Put small bungie cord around bracket that holds top down and attach Road King 56 mike to other end of cord.
you need a bigger shirt😝
+Gage Swalheim haha!!
Gage Swalheim or just to hit the gym every once in a while!
Scrap that antenna. You need at least 2/3 of the antenna length above the top of the Jeep. Get a 7ft Skipshooter. Easy tuning tip.
