"Sometimes you got to explore"? We should ALWAYS explore. 😊
Hi Justin. Dave here. You asked whether we like you reacting to lesser known music. Well, I for one much prefer that you play a song and I Don't Know What It Is. Like Lucifer's Friend. Terrific stuff and I have the CD on order.
P.S. my song ref, I Don't Know What It Is, is by Rufus Wainwright.
He sings with such confidence!
Just another great song from this fantastic band. I’m picking out the next album to listen too.
The most "normal" Song on the record, the one, that reminded me the most of what Lwaton would later do with Heep - This was the only one I was allowed to put on Casset for the Car without my mother protesting - I still love it, even if it´s a lot simpler than the rest. They did a simular Thing on "Where the Groupies Killed the Blues" with Burning Ships
MUST do the first album. To find the other side of LF......
I couldn't agree more! Their debut album would be a good counterpoint, and I wouldn't mind if Justin continued with Where the Groupies Killed the Blues (1972), I'm Just a Rock 'n' Roll Singer (1973) and Mind Exploding (1976).😉
Thanks so much for doing this album! I did know it already but been quite a while since I listened to it and it was great to come back to it. I, for one, definitely enjoy when you do lesser known bands. There are so many hidden gems out there that deserve a lot more attention than they get and content like this is great for introducing people to them.
Like a few others here, I HIGHLY recommend the first 2 Lucifer's Friend albums! Choose the first one (self-titled) if you want to hear them do heavy proto-metal, or the second (Where the Groupies Killed the Blues) for some awesome prog rock.
Cheers 🤘🤘
I love hearing unknown( to me) bands/artists. I also like hearing lesser known songs from established bands/stars...such as The return of Pan by The Waterboys.........please 👏👏
Yeah!!! thank you!
Because I started there, this is another of their songs that sounds very "Uriah Heep" to me, often. And I think I've gotten that a bit backwards. I think maybe the way Uriah Heep survived the loss of David Byron (when he became too impossible) was to become "the next Lucifer's Friend". (Which is equally off target, probably, but anyway, might be an OK idle speculation for a minute or two.)
Hey, bro! You just have to react to more of Suede or i will cry
"Dirty Old Town" is my least favourite track from Banquet, but I still think it's a great way to end the album.
Justin, I hope you'll be back on Lucifer's Friend soon with one of these four albums: Lucifer's Friend (1970), Where the Groupies Killed the Blues (1972), I'm Just a Rock 'n' Roll Singer (1973) or Mind Exploding (1976) and also check out Uriah Heep's Firefly album (1977) with the excellent John Lawton on vocals!
Agreed. The first 2 albums especially are fantastic!
Thought this might be a Pogues cover. Nope. Not the same song. Glad I did, though. Thanks, Justin.
Now you 're done with this hidden gem , you could try some other lesser known bands . Magnum is a great melodic rock band . They have over twenty albums since the 70s .
I agree! Especially the 82 album
