    This year has been an absolutely crazy experience when it comes to snow. This is the snow storm year of the century, I'm positive... or at least it will be when we look back on it from years in the future. We have spent about 70% of our time removing snow and to be honest, we're running out of places to put it. It's March now and we're hoping that means a shift in the seasons, cuz this snow storm stuff is getting out of hand!!!

      Sydney spends more time mothering that wee boy tha his own parents do. I can't comprehend how you could make anything more ompirtant than being with your child. How utterly sad that this wee lad will grow up with the proof that his parents, esp his mother would choose to employ someone to do the job of raising him ,rather than employing someone to do the filming if their YT channel. Prince Harry thinks he was neglected in his upbringing, heck, he's got no complaints compared to wee Leo. Just watch the emotional problems develope in his life !!!!!

      @@heatherclayton-callaghan4270 if that's how you feel don't watch them. You see a very small portion of their life to make a harsh assumption. They work from home and need a caretaker. No different then most parents here in America. The way that baby smiles at them shows how involved they are.

      @@heatherclayton-callaghan4270 I disagree. I was a baby boomer and everyone in my neighborhood grew up with stay at home mothers. Many of the mothers that I knew drank all day out of boredom. I worked full-time with my children, but I worked evenings so my husband was with them in the evening. I was with them in the daytime. When children get love and are loved so much as ours were, that is the best gift you can give them.

    If water is going to constantly flow downhill into your garage, you may want to retrofit the garage with a sump and a pump to collect and direct all water to a place that won’t do any damage.

    • @patrickrussell1888
      @patrickrussell1888 Рік тому +1

      What happened to the drain lines on the outside of the foundations? They are/will still be functional as outside buildup starts melting. Ice inside is from blowing snow and the man-cave roof that wasnt sealed. The inside will remain muddy until it dries out. Perhaps it would have been able to dry quicker if they put a pipe thru the foundation to the outside lowpoint.

    • @patrickrussell1888
      @patrickrussell1888 Рік тому +2

      As for the basement flooding because of the deck, the ground should be sloping away from the basement foundation under the deck.

      @illiniwood Рік тому +1

      A channel drain between the slope and the garage, then ran under the road and into the gulley with a small rock basin to prevent erosion. If built right, never have to worry and will still be there a hundred years from now working like the day it was put in.

    One thing to think about is eventually that snow is going to start melting. You need to remove snow from around the outside walls where it can seep into the house and garage under the walls. If the basement to the house is water sealed when they poured the concrete then you'll probably be OK there, but you need to at least get the snow away from where the stud walls and the concrete walls meet. You also need to make a couple of small trenches one away from the house and one away from the garage for the water to flow as the snow melts.

    1:50 Sand. I get a load (8 yards) of clean sand delivered to a convenient, sunny spot on my property every 4-5 years. I get it delivered in the spring. Over the summer, I "turn over" the pile several times with my backhoe. This is to get it as dry as possible (so it doesn't freeze into a block of sand in the winter). Then in the fall (before the first storms), I tarp it with a heavy duty black tarp. In the fall I also stack four five gallon buckets of dry sand (don't fill them all the way). During the winter, I keep the pile shoveled of snow on the south side facing the sun. The black tarp does the rest during the sunny days keeping the sand thawed. You'll be amazed how far a bucket of sand goes spreading it by hand like chicken scratch. I live at 4,000' right on the US/CA border where we see -20F every winter (this winter -31F).

    🦋Can’t wait to see what the surprise is, since you both seem so excited about it. There’s so many things that you accomplished in this video. Congratulations on all of that. Good your parents had a uneventful take off with all that surrounding snow. So glad to hear Allie say that the weather is not that bad if you’re dressed for it and acknowledge that she probably needed a warmer hat - I think she’s starting to understand that warmth is more important than beauty.😂😂 you’ll certainly have a lot of stories to tell about building that house and garage. If the garage turns out anything like the house it will certainly be worth it. Much love and many blessings and stay well. ❄️⛄️❄️⛄️

In 2016/17 in California it snowed 800" at Sugarbowl, right now it's 500-600 inches range at Sugarbowl for the year. Not sure why everyone is saying this is the snowfall record, it's not yet.

    Have you considered expanding Mountain Made Vans into the B+ market? They start with a cut away rather than a complete cargo van. You'd need to come up with forms for the remaining body panels and make them from fiberglass (or if your customers are wealthy, carbon fiber). You'd also have to come up with the missing doors. However, they're roomier than the standard class B vans you're building now. That's because you can make the body wider. Some even have multiple height roofs.

    We are getting more snow here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and I am waiting to see the warmer spring days with snow melting.... We don't have the mountain road, nor the amount of snow you guys have. But it is snowing yet again here as well. Do you have any idea what your total snowfall accumulation is for this winter so far? It would be interesting to know :D I sure agree, if you are dressed for the weather, it makes all the difference. And to have the great snow equipment.... that is absolutely a necessity for you guys. We have snow removal, not the absolute best, but we are thankful for the old plow truck and snow blower, not to mention decent shovels. My husband has been running heat tape to try and melt some of the snow in the valleys of our roof. Not working very well in these colder temperatures. The snow and ice build up in the valleys, even with the metal roof.
    I always enjoy watching your Leeka, she so reminds me of my daughter's dog, Luka! Luka is a shepherd/ pitbull mix by dna testing, but we would not have been surprised if she had melanois in her heritage. Her actions are so like Leeka's, she is game to try almost anything. I have seen her out with her Mom riding the waves on a board, and checking out all the little wonders of life on the beach, in the woods.
    I really enjoyed your video, once again! Thanks!

    Has anyone suggested using old-style crushed clay cat litter to alleviate the ice situation in your garage bays? It is also sold as a quick-absorbant material for motor oil spills etc. The particulates are sharp and provide good grit/grip on smooth, icy surfaces and they are also bio-compatible, meaning they don't harm the environment, lawns, flower beds etc. It does tend to track a bit but that is a minor trade-off when you consider any potential fall-induced injuries. Just a thought from Dartmouth, NS, Canada where we don't get anywhere near the snow-fall that you do. I think we are further south than you are. Stay safe and warm knowing that you are loved and prayerfully remembered! Pastor Ralph
