I finally gave this game a chance and it is great. Its definitely become one of my all time favorites. Yes, there are some complaints, but it was made by 25 people, not a massive studio. I really wish they would keep adding and improving, or make a sequel
Honestly, a big reason I even tried it out is because I was hoping that they'd made it a lot better since launch and I'm sad to say I didn't enjoy it all that much
I’d give it another chance if they improved the combat. I don’t have any complaints about the graphics, but the combat has no weight to it. Attacks have no satisfaction.
Ye I bought it on release and was hype but for some reason gave up after like 2 sittings à maybe 3hours. Now I forgot why I habe up but this video shed some lights on why - but overall I do remember it to be fairly overall good on the things I value. Maybe I didnt get tired of the goofy sounds yet either but I sometimes enjoy that when it's done right 😂 especially when it's a old fart, glasses sounding narrator haha
Being a small studio is not that much of an excuse for shortcomings. Especially not when even _smaller_ dev studios have done way more. I played for about 70 hours and had fun but everything in the game just feels unfinished still. It's only fun if you don't think about it too much but once you look at everything from a constructive lens it's an extremely average game.
Ive seen a bunch of reviews that bash it for the dialog and narration more than anything, kinda sad, i personally love the game so far (but i also enjoy several other poorly reviewed games) but i think we can agree the character creation system is a pretty cool idea (i should also mention i got it for 5 bucks)
Yeah I felt they definitely had some new and cool ideas overall, but as videomaker said, weren't executed good enough. Crafting was amazing but as he said, alot of the scrap finding were sooo boring most of the times.
I bought the game full price day of, and was very underwhelmed, after hitting a lull in gaming i gave it another shot this summer and despite its problems and missed opportunities i learned to love it what its aiming fir. I love the dynamic combat & addictive crafting system, cartoony graphics, lighting and fx, its eye candy for me. I think what really hurt this game was the expectations they set in its marketing and when you price a AA game like a AAA ppl will criticize it like AAA. If it was priced at half the cost, debuted as a gamepass exclusive and emphasized that this its their first game and wanted to make something nostalgic & mindless fun people's expectations would been better managed and Biomutant would get a lot more respect for what its trying to be, it really deserves a sequel.
I just beat the game yesterday I feel the same way but those side quests was to damn much I had a whole list of shit but most of them was just collect 0/5 or 0/25 items and they spread around the map and every time I try to get em I have to collect a new suit so the areas won’t kill me

How people can complain about the graphics on a game like this is beyond me. I still regularly play NES, SNES, N64 and many other classic game consoles and have no issues with the graphics.
For me graphics aren’t everything, but I am a sucker for good graphics. Especially when it comes to reviewing I’ve got to compare to the best of the best and art style certainly counts for a lot
One thing I can say about the looting is that I'm pretty much used to it from games like The Last of Us and Bladur's Gate 3. If I do one thing in a game, it's looting the hell outta every place but honestly the whole game just seemed compelling to me because I love games where you can play as an animal. Appreciate the review, it's currently on sale for 9.99 Eurs and I might just buy it
I’m willing to retry this game, though what got me when I tried it at launch was how some quests were glitched and couldn’t progressed. But I mean cmon you get to make a cute little fluffball it can’t be all bad
There were some items before the patches years ago that were OP. These items were taken out of my inventory. I just came back after 2 years. Loved this game.
I’m playing it right now on the Steam Deck oled, and it’s a great game! I hope to find another game like that. I normally don’t like video games that much. Except Assassin’s Creed games, and a few other Ubisfot games. This is like a mix of Beyong Good and evil and black and white.
I love this game. It reminds me of an Xbox360 game and is just light hearted. I just finished the silent hill 2 remake and picked this up. It was much needed after the madness that silent hill is
Belive it or not. This is the only game I've ever pre ordered... But I like it. I must admit yeah it's not the best game but it's not a bad game. It's pretty good for what it is. The characters actually look decent maxed out on pc, I recently got it again on my series x and it's not as nice looking lmao. But I still like it.
Sub'd. I like this idea. There are indeed games that need a review a few years after release. You might want to write down your category names, though. You kept saying "Graphics and visuals" instead of "Visuals and performance"
I played biomutant on release and I loved every second, the character voices were lack luster but the combat and story was great. I loved the style and the crafting mechanics, the mounts were fun to find as well with some a few awesome styles.❤❤❤
Thanks for the review! Watched this to see if it's worth diving back in but I think your experience sums up my (very limited) own first impressions. I was hyped about this as well from the concept and trailers and stuff, but picked it up as a free PS Plus game I think recently and barely got past the first few minutes. Combat felt super flat and I agree there was no feedback to the awesome moves on screen, and the tone was just all over the place. I'm especially not a fan of the comic book sound pop ups, it just feels like the devs couldn't decide what they wanted this to be and just didnt commit one way or another.
Of course, any time! I know what you mean about the devs not making their mind up about how the game should be. I think the narrator was the biggest offender as they’d flip from philosophy and world ending dialogue to the goofiest nonsense a minute later. Was very confusing 😂 glad you liked the review!
This really does sum up my experience with the game, I played it when it released and just thought "This is certainly a game that exists". The premise is great but the execution is just mediocre and it winds up being a game that just kind of is there
I love the heck out of this game but also can see some pretty big flaws. Its one of those games I always find myself hoping back into every once in a while.
@@BigWynter, it sure was. Every time I play the game, I look at my character and feel a little regret into details, like the design. I tried to make him a little guy with big ears and eyes, fluffy tail, and no showing of teeth, aiming for Intelligence and a little bit of Charisma. For the life of me, I just didn’t have luck for it all, but I got all but the ears and tail. Still like him though, since they are at least above average.
Got the game for $15 - and it's an absolute steal at that price. Is it a AAA game? Definitely not - but it's imaginative & fun, even if it has an identity crisis (serious music and plot - kids show dialog). I recommend it, but only if you're pulled in by the trailer & you get the dual-wielding Mercenary DLC - and you get it at a price that doesn't break your wallet.
The two most amazing games with incredible post-release polish and a troubled original release are No Mans Sky and Cyberpunk. I started a new character on No Mans Sky and now they implemented fishing and your own fishing raft. The amount of hours i put into these two games alone is unhealthy.
The combat, there's lock on target. You can't miss... U're locked on. And u're fighting mobs, something got hot with that flurry even if u're NOT, locked on. Feedback from actions, well is watching the mob u're fighting wither away as you melt them, sometimes literally, feedback enough??? Or that build that you figured out or copied, making you a freaking comic book MC , that refuses to die, enough feedback?? Or hunting down all the Uber legendary weapons, and having to fight the guardians, of which you completely run thru, because " though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you shall fear no evil, because you are the baddest Mofoe in the valley" and honestly, that's the whole point of the game. Even on the hardest difficulty, on your third playthrough, when all the bosses and sub-bosses level sync with u. But, that was my experience
Completely fair enough, just wanted to give my personal take on the game. With the combat though, I did find even locked on you’d slip flip around then in a bit of a lock on spiral. The feedback just felt a little light to me though, as yes they did melt away and damage words/numbers popped up but even with good weapons some enemies just felt like cutting through paper with no weight to them but that’s just me. Thank you for you comment bud, I’m sorry I didn’t enjoy it as much as you!
Janky and half baked. The art direction was the only thing doing it for me. Totally different but I scratched my mutant itch with Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. Really good game, short but sweet.
