Man these companies are getting way too comfortable with these high prices.
Right? 100k for this?? An m3 competition which blows this out of the water is 86k
@@pwj86772without any options… guaranteed this things fully loaded
M3 with the same specs is about 95 as well, without ccb
Dealership finna jack it up
Inflation is on everything. Look at what parts went up to now. With everyone getting a raise, cost of overhead in manufacturing, etc. caused it all to go up. It’s normal.
Kia and Hyundai SUV’s are 60k now. American trucks are close to 100k plus now.
I remember when houses were under 100k. Now same house is 600k.
Glad to hear that Audi is finally making their RS models a little more dynamic. I loved seeing that on-ramp squirm. That V6 helps, it's a nice sound!
it's cause he's on winter tyres lmao the squirm will not happen with some summers on
it'll still happen on summers, it's just that the limit would be higher before it squirms. more than anything, the squirm is an indicator of the car's handling balance and not the tires' overall level of grip. @@azaboy2
I love the feeling and the sound of every button in Audi cars.
Audi is killing it lately. Glad to see them still building RS cars.
killing with what?? their choices are shit compared to bmw, beemers got b58 and s58 that pretty much destroy audi
U serious? Trolling right? That cheesy glued on screen looks terrible and their performance for 100k is nowhere near bmw
Great video as usual. I was lucky to drive a c7 S6 and fell in love with how it drove. Cool cars.
Thanks for this review. It’s an amazing car. It’s got that muscle look with great performance in all weather. Even on snows, they handle amazing. Driven my friends a few times and will end up with one after I trade my RS3 in.
80mph on an on ramp with snows, with pure confidence. 👍 most important is the smile on your face.
Thank you for having fun with this one
I love how understated it is for the performance it offers
Classy vehicle. You sir are my preferred automotive reviewer.
I love how unabashedly turbocharged the RS5 Competition is. Many modern cars try to mask that they're turbocharged. Not the RS5, it huffs, chuffs and surges on tsunami's of torque. Love it.
Love OG topher vids🤝
More cars need to have interiors like that, simple yet obviously high quality.
Yeah, that infotainment just slapped on the dash as an afterthought just screams “quality”
@@pwj86772 I don't think you know what quality means. I'm talking about the quality of the materials and how ergonomic the interior Is, that's quality.
What you mean Is aesthetics, I've seen lots of cars with interiors that you'd deem 'quality' (i.e. good looking) and a lot of them sacrifice the ergonomics for style or in even worse cases just slap on a giant screen that covers the entire dashboard ditching all physical controls. Presenting an obvious safety hazard and an ergonomics nightmare I'd rather have this slapped on screen than some 'elegantly integrated' bs like you get on the new S class that's just nightmare fuel to use and In my opinion nightmare fuel lookswise as well.
Audis do the best interiors.
@@pwj86772 I prefer the "slapped on the dash" style than burried in the console, burried in the console was the 2000s screen style, right where you can't see it when you're driving. My parents have a VW Tiguan and it's in the worst possible place Want to change music? Can't look at the road. Want to look at the map? Can't look at the road. My Octavia has a screen in a similar place as that Audi and it's actually possible to use it.
The RS5 Sportback is probably my "somewhat attainable" dream car. Beautiful combination of daily, sports car and quattro AWD for Canadian winters.
Had my 2018 A5 Sportback for 5 years now, still love it to this day.
Wish S5 and RS5 came with a DCT.
Any average guy can make 100k if they try nowadays. Keep up the grind my friend!
100k salary won’t really guarantee you can afford a 100k car.
@@Teddingtin A car should be maximum 30% of annual gross income if you’re being responsible. For someone making 100k they should be looking at 33k cars.
@@AP-cc1uw I didn’t mean a salary of 100k but anyone with an average pay can have that in savings if they’re smart about it. Obviously it won’t happen overnight.
man this has got to be one of the fastest 450 hp cars on the market lol. thing absolutely rips. not sure if'd personally get the competition package but i can respect them offering it.
Even as a 2018 S5 owner, I’ll be the first to admit that Audi has fallen behind the competition in a plethora of areas. For how expensive this car is, it’s too outdated, “slow”, etc. I’m rooting for them to come back to their former glory of ~10 years ago with their next generation of products.
Couldn't agree more. Former rs5 owner here.. No ventilated seats. No 3D 360 camera. Outdated HUD. And the list goes on... Come on..
The B9 is getting old it’s been on its way out for a while. Hopefully Audi doesn’t ruin the interior on the next iteration with touchscreens like they did to the RS6/RS7. Personally I think this is one of the best interiors Audi has ever made.
Have you driven this new RS5 performance? It’s not slow at all. It’s an 11 second street car. 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.
Driven my friends a few times and it’s amazing. Handling and power is spot on. Extremely enjoyable.
Tuning will make them even faster. Price is high though, but everything is inflated now.
Nothing boring about this.
@@danlee8090It’s a drivers car.
@@danlee8090 I agree, no seat ventilation option at this price is ridiculous. the B9.5 does have a 360 cam tho
I feel like Topher is reading me a bed time story and I'm okay with it.
The engine note sounds really good!
Driven this car before, the handling and ride is pretty sweet!
Few things are more satisfying than that Audi *click*
It does seem like a great package. I've always loved the RS cars but for the price there is just better options in my opinion. Also that speedmaster is looking slick.
Finally a recent RS Audi car!
This car secretly comes with more power. There are a couple of guys on the Audi forums that discovered this car trapping +5 mph in the 1/4mil compared to the regular RS5. They Also did dyno comparisons and found that the car makes about 30+ more wheel horsepower than Audi claims. Kinda weird that Audi didn't tell anyone.
Hell even Dodge seems to underrate their shit, getting dynoed at like +30 to +50hp, and if a company branded on high power is underrating I assume others are too.
which Audi forum? Can you show me?
A stock one traps 114-115. The Competition is not trapping 120+💀
Hey @TheTopher, how did you become a car reviewer? I find your line of work very interesting and was hoping to follow. I am curious to your educational path that has put you in such an entertaining job.
I can see you cruising in one of these Chris!
Hey Chris, you tested the sound system but didn’t really have a lot to say. Is the B&O system good? How would it compare to the B&O in the new S3?
Is there any different in exterior between 2doors and 4 doors? Or differences in length in dimension?
The car is nice and all but $100K for a shorter A4 seems too steep when you can get a faster M2 for $40K less.
As an Audi fan, this really kills me. It's a shame that most of the RS models just don't compare to competitors in terms of performance for the price.
@@BatehamRadio Same here, I used to own a 16' S3 and i got rid of it due to how boring the thing was to drive and depreciation. Now driving around in a 6MT MK8 GTI and it’s so much more enjoyable.
@@dominicanstig5196i used to own a 16 s3 and got rid of it for the same exact reason. it was almost too good - absolutely no drama with it lol... now ive got a nismo 370z and the drive is much more engaging. plus the v6 sounds much better than the 4 imo
@@finnnyyyyyy The S3 was a nice quick daily but it soon got super boring for me. Just felt like i was getting driven around by a robot. I thought of the Z as well but found a 40th anniversary edition GTI with a manual and I couldn’t resist. The torque steer and shifting gears just makes the thing so much fun to drive.
M2 is faster? How do you figure? It's not.
Can never take the child out of a guy
He was so happy 😭😭
I don't know why Audi stopped making the flat bottom wheel...it's so much better for a car like this...
The hands on detection capacitive touch for the adaptive cruise requires the circle wheel
I swapped out for a flat bottom steering wheel from an RS6.
@@myemailiscool Audi only has round heated steering wheels. Flat bottom in S and RS cars otherwise
@@bimmerbuds Nope. RS6/7 has no problem having them
@@chrisburry8147 did you retain the heating & lane keep functions with the RS6 wheel?
You blurred speedo but forgot to blur HUD ;)
😂
The design reminds me of a GLI Jetta honestly. Similar exhaust look. Similar looking interior. Yes, same company, but it just looks like a fancy Jetta, and that is what it is.
I dont know if you'll ever respond to this my comment lol
But, how do you stop your GoPro camera from overheating when driving?
I tried doing pov driving video like you but it didn't come up so good lol
It was my first so I'm still learning
I film these POV's too. Got to keep them away from the sun, and he most likely takes pauses and starts filming from same road segments once it cools down
Went from a 2022 s3 with the intergeated touch screen to a 2020 s4 with the same "tacked on" display sreen as that rs5. Hated looking down on the s3. The b9 4/5 screen is at the perfect place to glance down and back up to the road.
Great looking car, favorite corner in each video is 10:25. That's the true test...
I thought I was the only one
5:21 People don't complain about "the position of the screen", they complain that it's horribly integrated into the interior's design, which it is. It looks tacked on, something a person would DIY.
Nice car
This interior design is easily one of Audi's best. I'm not much of a touchscreen guy so I prefer the B9 5 series interior as opposed to B9.5 which this is, because B9 had the scroll wheel which I personally prefer. That said, I like the haptic feedback on the touchscreen and it helps but just feels so distracting to operate.
mechanically, I was disappointed at first when this came out because it didn't feel like Audi actually did enough but when the whole package comes together it actually looks like a solid improvement, dynamically speaking, over the "regular" RS5.
No startup chime?
This car has had better days. That v8 was glorious
You mean is glorious
third, love the vids alot
Sounding like @growlerjams with the almost whisper commentary lol. Also why do you blur triple digit speed on the cluster but still leave it visible on the HUD? I mean I know why you blur it but shouldn’t you blur the HUD too?
Anybody know what watch Topher wears? One of the cleanest watches I’ve ever seen
Topher get your hands on the new C43! 👌
The 2.9L TT is a true powerhouse, but man I miss that 4.2L V8 the RS5 used to have. This might be the best looking Audi for sale right too, RIP the R8.
234 oil temp is barely touching the limit. I've hit 275 on track without it breaking a sweat lol
Great car, just wish Audi would offer their hatches in the states
Same with Mercedes
what do u think between this and m4 comp? i cross shopped and ended up going w the bmw
Audi for daily. BMW for weekend use.
M3C all day
pls review the top spec 20204 audi s8
Buttons in 2023 is so damn nice
Damn another early vid 🤯
Proper !
I wish they would integrate those screens into the dashboard already like the new RS3, they look like an afterthought sticking out like that
You should do a review of the old screamer V8 RS5 from 2013-2014! That's going to be a collectible.
235degrees? DAMN MAN! That's just a time delayed fuze ya got there! I do like this car but idk man...
Hello @TheTopher, I would like to see a review about Chevy Trax 2024.
Do you like this better than the m3 comp ? TOPHER
No way M3 u have Xdrive u can switch between 4wd and rwd when u get bored which its not the causein Rs5
how does this man get these cars
16:24 that one was a butt clencher 😂
This or M3 ?
Surprisingly spacious for a coupe very nice, to bad those V8’s are done
Is it just me or the doors look a bit too short? Like there's too much space between it and the wheel arch.
When you blur out your speedo. Make sure you also blur out your head up display.
never seen an audi handle like that
Standard Rs5 or 4 should drive like this from the factory. How they charge 15k additional for competition package makes this poor performance per dollar. I bet audi fanboys wouldn’t buy it either. For 100k I would pick slightly used 992 or 991.2 911 with a manual
Kinda crazy audi havent redesigned the a4/5 or Q5 in really long time
5:19 say it louder!! based topher interior rant
All that for it to understeer like every other Audi
Did you see it understeer?
These don’t understeer anymore. Audi really tweaked things a lot now with new rear differential.
You have to drive it.
The only thing I don't like about it is they got rid of the flat bottomed steering wheel for some reason. My 2020 S4 has it and I just put an order in for a 2024 RS5 and it does not.
Wait for price drop to $80k or less, $100k is crazy. Btw you can set the round dial display to be on all the time. This car is too heavy for serious track work but a nice street car. Believe RS3 has quicker track time on C&D Lightning Lap
Ugh I want one. C'mon lottery 😅
Yeah, no thanks, its nice, but for 100k im getting an m3 or m4 competition
These "Competition" packages have ruined the point of base M3, RS5, ect.
Beautiful car but I think I’d rather have an RS3
lol, blurred out the speed on the digital gauge, but he forgot to blur out the speed on the HUD.
if i were told to spend rs5 money on a car id always pick a bimmer over audi, theyre just better
Idk...S and RS5 have been extremely disappointing for me. S5 has pretty much no legs and no power once you go pass middle range RPMs.
And the RS5 is a 6 figure priced car that can barely beat a m240i.
I had an RS5 on order until i was finally able to test drive both the S5 and RS5 and had to cancel my order.
Now i'm super confused what to buy that can still have some fun in the winter
I still prefer RS5 2013 with V8
Looks like a jetta
2020
RS5 Comp no longer has ceramic brakes as an option...
Drove lots of those RS5's. As a former S5 Sportback owner, I much prefer the ride and sound of the S5, but the RS5 looks cooler and has some additional power. Although, the ride is unbearable for anything over an hour. You can feel every bump - with, or without DRC. Some features are also behind, but it's still got great tech for what it is.
What's your take on the ride of the RS5 vs the G80 M3? Which one is stiffer?
@@alexanderperry7821 I think the RS5 is the stiffest car in it's class
interesting! Have consistently heard "it's the most daily" of the top end performance sedans but yes saw your review and some others that mention the bouncing. @@DMCarReviews
@@alexanderperry7821 The most daily is the M3 in my opinion, in this class! As far as the most "daily" Audi, with a touch of sportiness is the S5. Way better ride and sound than the RS5.
Beautiful car but for the price I’d rather get a g80 m3
I don’t think the price is really justified here.
5200$
This desperately needs a refresh. Something about the dimensions seems off.
Nothing seems off. I doubt audi will refresh it. Electric is their next move. This is last of gas engines.
M3 xdrive owns this Audi all day long at a cheaper price
Is it me or does Topher sound kinda stressed in this video?
100k. I don't see 100 grand. I wonder where it is.
Hi
Bye
@@nickolliver3021hi
I just don’t understand why Audi is putting SUV steering wheels on their rs vehicles.. really makes it feel less special.
A flat bottom steering wheel would be better
It was between this or my Blackwing. Ultimately, the RS5 falls short of my expectations especially being all wheel drive and with a significant cost difference.
The Blackwing feels like a track car that is amazing on the street.
The RS5 feels like a decent street car who tries to be a car that can be ridden on the track.
I can’t speak for the Bang and Olufsen system in the RS5, but in my A4 with the same speaker arrangement, the Bang and Olufsen system is absolutely terrible. Not only the worst car audio system I’ve listened to, but probably the worst music listening experience I can recall from memory.
Bro what. I have an a5 and it sounds amazing. I had one issue with rattling in the door but it got fixed for free. I honestly haven’t heard anything better.
@@jonlikesplanes Unless they have a different tuning setup for the A5? But in the A4, treble and vocals are very sharp, my ears actually get fatigue. Mids are almost non existent, so it sounds very thin. I actually resort to listening to my AirPods in the car.
@@joelabbiento3523 yea mine is nothing like that. Can you adjust the sound in the settings and maybe balance it out that might help. I also have a 2023 so you might have an older sound system which could be it.
@@jonlikesplanes I have the 2017 (b9 generation). I played with all the sound settings and even upgraded the speakers, nothing helped. Guess I’ll have to listen to the newer systems before considering another Audi with B&O.
100k and no ventilated seats? I love audi but this is overpriced imo.
Bmw screens and interior look so much more modern and expensive. U can get that same little cheesy glued on screen in a ford escape, kia, etc.. looks terrible for a car thats 100k
Stop whispering wtf this ain’t no asmr video
For $100k, using the same exact engine as the Porsche Macan. I'm really not inclined to give it just about any kind of credibility. An RS3 is $35k less and can pump out the same power with a simple tune. And people have been getting some monster performance numbers out of their RS3s. For this money the m550 absolutely cubstomps it with almost 100 more hp and the V8 c43 AMG from mercedes beats this in every single way.
Tuning wise, RS3 kills it. It actually kills everything for its price and tuning. So many running 8’s and 9’s now.
There is no V8 C43. The M550i does nothing better than the RS5 other than comfort (as it should, it's huge). Yup it has a V8, but it's boring. Now if you're taking about an M5, that's a different story (and price bracket).
Nope. Different engine in the Macan. Same engine in the RS5 is used in the Panamera 4S as well as in the S6 and the S7.
@@chrisburry8147Yeah, there is. MB gave you a 500hp V8 in the C43 until the 2023 model year. The m550 does literally everything better than the RS5 and even has a similar 0-60 time. What are you smoking?
@@DaftDucktoolIt is the exact same engine, they are not changing out the engines because VW wants to save money.
This cars boring.. design is a bit bland and getting very long in the tooth. They need a complete redesign.
It’s definitely not boring.

@@ryanb8736 I thought they were ugly too, until I saw them in real life. Lowered with some nice rims and a front splitter makes them look gorgeous

Only BMW engine I like now is B58. Now that is a great engine built for longevity. True M engines are not built for longevity. Unfortunately.
Porsches are best built cars. Best to drive too. In a couple years I will get a new 911 GTS.
@@HailCaesar-lm4bq Fastest SUV in car history is Cayenne Turbo GT. Its just audi suv (chassis is common with this RS5) with Porsche badge with big V8 engine BEFORE front axle.
Thats why its fastest suv in car history. Audi's chassis are ultimate racing cars, nobody beats them, they banned awd by their dominance, go and read about racing hertiage you boring mumbling random.
Porsche engineers are Audi engineers, there is nothing to improve, they achieve best mechanical awd system in car history and in racing history. Cayenne Turbo GT, big pig, bad suv with very high center of gravity and weight of 2300 kg and with this junk, this chassis make better time at Virginia International than m4 competition x-drive and even older M4 GTS. Now get rid of 700 kg, lower center of gravity, make chassis a lot smaller with a lot shorter wheelbase, which gives more natural rotation, get rid of big V8 and get small and nimble V6 and you have... this very RS5 . If Cayenne can do this, JUST image what potential small, nimble RS5 have. Yeah, i dont know why Audi wasnt make RS5 Competition + or something like this with -100 kg + 100-150 hp + tweaks in suspension and chasiss at same level like in Cayenne Turbo GT, they would make a lot new track records and shut this funny "understeer myth" mumbling by really boring and very simple, plain people.
Wake up.
That interior is way too outdated
