This one is close to home and brought back some fond memories! Me and the Mrs bought ourselves a lovely t3 as a 3rd vehicle 5 years ago for day trips and holidays. It will always hold a special place in my heart and I wish I could have kept it forever, but they require bottomless pits of money and time to keep on top of them. 4 weeks of welding in every bit of my spare time, plus paying my bodyshop to do some structural welding & paint was the final decision maker for me. Sold it whilst it was at its peak of condition and value. They are unbelievably endearing, Enjoy!

Another excellent video this classic car series has got to be be one of my favourite. I Would love to join in with the classic car adventures I've got a 1977 Mk1 Ford Granada 3.0 ghia which is definitely using the MOT and TAX exempt status to its full advantage.
We’ve got in the family a 3 seater factory orange VWT25 2.0L air cooled from 1983, the last year they made that engine. It was imported from Switzerland with a detachable camper top (which was sold at the time), and it’s sitting on Borbet classic wheels! I love it to bits!
Me and my brother have matching Singer Chamois (fancy Hillman imp) that we have had since we were kids! My dad bought them when my older brother was about to take his driving lessons and they have been working progresses ever since. We’re now both in our 30’s 😂 Loving this series guys!
12 years ago, i went from Edinburgh to Folkestone for one of these, except in 1.6 diesel format. I owned it a year, it went on many journeys, from Edinburgh to....the grand national/the highlands/Arbroath/Ayrshire and a few more. I only sold it as it was my "experiment" with VW ownwership. Didn't fix a thing, even on Mot, sold it for £2000. Best vehicle i've had. Slowest, but best.
Hey I absolutely agree what Alex just said about camping in their classic vehicles Taylor with a roof tent on his classic car and Rory sleeping in his classic car but Alex is going too be more comfortable warm and dry with classic camper van.
Alex you should do a citybug challenge i.e Peugeot 107, Citroen c1, Toyota aygo one for each of you guys and your goal is to drive around London and visit landmarks while dealing with London traffic, whoever is able to visit all landmarks first is the winner
I've driven my T25 campervan daily for the last 9 years. Love it as much now as I did when I first bought it. Not fast at all, but comfy and practical.
Yes a T3!!!! I've owned mine since 2006, and my brother has had a few different variants as well. Looks like you've got all the standard rotten bits for a T3. Check your jacking points carefully, they go from the inside out as the factory underseal keeps them mint until water makes it's way down the pillars. Also check your rear trailing arms for rust on under the spring seat, and more people are having them snap just after the front mounting points. Check the chassis to front radius rod bush. They wear and rattle over bumps, if they're left too long they oval the hole in the chassis leg. Best repairs/upgrades are gear linkage bushes and swivels, poly bushes for the steering rack take out a lot of play and make it feel so much better, headlight relay kits, and factory style 5 piece front splitter helps on the motorway with crosswinds and large vehicle wind wakes.
I'm so glad he's stopped the strong arm negotiation tactics, and also surprised he even saw that people were commenting about it (many youtubers just ignore the comments section)
I considered myself a car guy from when I was a child always drawing or playing with cars. When growing up I studied car mechanics and worked as one for 5 years. The first car I bought was a suzuki samurai wich I lifted and did all the stupid things with it one would want to do. When it needed alot of welding I restored the whole thing and bought a jimny as a daily but it soon also got the big wheels treatment. after it was on it's second engine I swapped it in for a new van because I wanted to travel and in the last 10 years I've converted 4 smaller and bigger vans to campers and I never found a better way to enjoy a vehicle. It's the ultimate freedom and truly is my happy place, wherever I park it, unless it's somewhere dodgy but I can always just go somewhere else. Currently I'm converting a renault master from 2011 with over 160 000 miles after a drunk driver crashed into my citroen dispatch/jumpy. It's a real budget build as I didn't plan for this and I spend all my savings on traveling. Congrats on buying betty and I hope you and your growing family can have as much joy with it as I've known to have had.
I used to drive a watercooled pick up for a builders company I worked for back in the eighties, that thing was a blast, and it handled pretty well, allowing a bit of controllable oversteer when required. You'll have fun with this I don't doubt
Just had a crap evening after weeks of taking care for the whole family since my wife has an injury. Thanks for putting a smile on my face multiple times and even get me to laugh. Did not think that would happen tonight.
Ive had a 1972 beetle, mk2 golf, air cooled t25 day van, Hijet, and mk3 fiesta. Classic cars always just make you smile. The stupider the better lol. I loved my t25 the most and miss it loads. Same reason as Ollie in the end, got too expensive to keep at that point in my life. I wish I could get it back! 😊
I currently own all three of these sort of, i have a gt6, not a spitfire but basically the same. That mini has been reshelled using a later car at some point. The body number will be stamped on the drip rail at the front of the scuttle where the bonnet sits if it's a later shell. If it is the original, it'll be stamped at the top of the boot apeture. Bit of a bodge but you can buy oversized outer sills which are designed to be welded over the the top of what you have. They would get you on the road again and take care of a lot of the rust. The spitfire has had a lot of suspect work as you have noted, I can see it's missing the drip rails along the a pillars next to the windscreen but will probably be fine. The VW bus. The rust along the sliding door rail is concerning, as is the rust around the guttering. The doorstep rust and behind the rear wheels is pretty normal. What kills these and is dangerous is rust hidden above the rear jacking points inside the sill and also rust at the front edge of the rear trailing arms where they bolt to the rear jacking point. Also people tend to add aftermarket plastic fuel filters between the mechanical fuel pump and the carb which are a cause of a lot of fires on these. If it has one please throw it in the bin and fit one nearer the fuel tank instead. 3k doesn't get you much anymore. Looking forward to the inevitable chaos that follows 👍😂

Another excellent video this classic car series has got to be be one of my favourite. I Would love to join in with the classic car adventures I've got a 1977 Mk1 Ford Granada 3.0 ghia which is definitely using the MOT and TAX exempt status to its full advantage.
Best one yet 💯
To make the budget fair:
- Alex has to sleep in his car
- Taylor and Rory get 1k each to spend their nights in luxury hotels on the trip instead
😂😂😂
0:39 that is fishy
We’ve got in the family a 3 seater factory orange VWT25 2.0L air cooled from 1983, the last year they made that engine. It was imported from Switzerland with a detachable camper top (which was sold at the time), and it’s sitting on Borbet classic wheels! I love it to bits!
Me and my brother have matching Singer Chamois (fancy Hillman imp) that we have had since we were kids! My dad bought them when my older brother was about to take his driving lessons and they have been working progresses ever since. We’re now both in our 30’s 😂
Loving this series guys!
definitely needs a "rebuild to OE+ specs" series! Great episode as always!
Love it! Great choice, im sure there will be some great adventures to come in Betty!
I can’t wait to see how this progresses. Definitely do a series for it!
After challenge would make a cool retro team race support vehicle
