Not from Castlevania the Concert, but from another concert a year later called Level. It was a mix-program with some Castlevania in the middle, but also Zelda, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy.
For me this was always THE theme of Castlevania.
I always marveled at how truly valiant Simon Belmont was in the Castlevania. I mean his clan made it their duty to fight all the unholy creatures that mortal men naturally fear. In a time when the Eurocentric world was primitive, unlettered and uncultured, the Belmont's just suited up and walked out into the darkness of the night against impossible odds, throwing themselves completely at the mercy of God Himself to selflessly protect mankind.

Simon was the brash one with something to prove. His forebears the reluctant heroes. It was Simon who charged into the night with the fury of a viking bent on reaching Valhalla. Armed with a sacred whip and a suicidal, young ambition he endeavored to challenge the ancient enemy of his clan, alone and unaided.
True. They’re continuing the tradition of King David and his mighty men.

I've had this discussion with a friend before, about what the significance of Simon is as a Belmont
He wasn't the one who made Vampire Killer
He never knew Alucard
He wasn't the one who brought the Belnades clan's magical blood into the lineage
He didn't even finish off Dracula for good when it was his turn
Strictly speaking, the only thing cosmically special about Simon is that his game came first.
But *by god*, if he wasn't the most tenacious Belmont to ever live.
This guy literally came in with no especially unique tools or powerful magic, just a regular suite of vampire-hunting equipment and the whip, took the fight STRAIGHT to the castle, and didn't just beat Dracula, but he tore him APART. Just because he didn't have a magic seal didn't mean he wasn't gonna try something, and this man went full unga-bunga and literally cut Dracula up into pieces and personally scattered them across the countryside to try and make it as hard as possible for him to resurrect himself.
Then-- and I cannot stress this enough-- an ENTIRE YEAR later, he finds out that Dracula hit him with a *death curse* on that day. This means he literally went about his life trying to go back to living on a farm for almost a full year and didn't even notice that the lord of all evil hit him with a spell designed to strike him dead on the spot, he had to be TOLD that this was happening in the first place.
And when he finds that out, what does he do? Sure as shit didn't look for any magicians or clerics to break the curse for him. No this guy literally retraced his steps, put Dracula back together, WHILE still Death-Cursed, and fought the motherfucking king of vampires a second time in his lifetime, literally 200% more Dracula than basically any other Belmont, beat him into submission until he lifted the curse, then killed him again.
All in under a week, by the way.
Simon doesn't need the fancy tricks of those who came before or after him. He hardly needs them if nothing can kill him anyway.

Definitely the best part. The second would be the verse where the bassist goes high on the fret with just the organ and drums behind him.

I wanna point out that the guy at the organ console is turning the pages of his score himself. There's definitely a point in there where he's going full virtuoso with one hand and turning the pages with the other, hahaha

Because some people have horrible taste in music. They should’ve hired this guy to compose the whole soundtrack with this band especially Richter‘s theme.
Because the main theme style of Smash is… HIGH ENERGY ROCK, INTENSITY and all and some music from the franchises… so they can’t really diverge from that style and this track is a mixture of orchestral and light rock so… _that’s a no_
At least they got the OG version + the Arcade arrangement

I often wonder if the people playing the instruments have ever played the games themselves and have a connection to them, or if they're just performing what they're being paid for.
At the first rehearsal, i told the members of the orchestra to go home and play Super Castlevania IV and SOTN to get into the right state of mind. True story 👍

This sounds great but why are some of the instruments a lot louder than others
It's due to the mic locations on this recording, it sounded more balanced live
Slightly too fast like they changed it to Jazz but .75 speed too slow

If Simon's story is added to the Netflix series this would make a great rendition for it.
The Writer Guy what I love about the anime is how much they’re distancing themselves from the series and they’re making it much darker. I’m glad we’re getting it see what happens in between the games and how the characters grow and change

I like that they've combined events from 3 and CoD while adding to the lore and that we get to see things that weren't touched upon too much in the games like Trevor and Sypha's relationship. The creators have said they would be interested in adapting the Demon Castle War of 1999 eventually as well.
