Take a moment and Google Britsh ships from the 1700s. Then imagine the level of technology that built these ships and the tools the men had available at the time. Also, the sails and riggings are nothing short of a complicated equation in the form of the geometry of cloth and wind. Then there is navigation beyond the shoreline across the seas with a displinced crew along with rations and the ability to return home. Now look at Africa in the same period or even from Victorian photographs and tell me all civilizations are equal.
If you took that ship from the 1700s minus a crew and placed it in an African harbor it would sit and rot before it could ever be reverse-engineered. Sorry to sound so harsh but I am sick of this Afro-Centric Fan Fiction being taught as history. it is long past the time for a reality check.

Ofcourse the wheel wasn't used if you knew the history of the wheel you'd know it didn't spring up out of nowhere all over Eurasia amd North Africa. I presume you did since your so educated, if not I'll spoon feed you some facts. The wheel is an invention which Came about from Eurasians who first domesticated the horse. The earliest evidence of the wheel is found in Mesopatamia if I remember correctly however, some scholars believe it was used first before them further North closer to.the Eurasian Steppe. The wheel spread along with the spread of the horse and its domestication. At some point the horse and chariot entered Northern Africa and other parts of Eurasia and thus the idea of the wheel was incorporated. Originslly the ancient Egyptian civilization didn't have the wheel they got it from the Hyksos. Those who were isolated from this obviously didn't come up with the concept due to isolation and other factors such as the beasts of burden used to utilize the wheel e.g horses weren't present. thus the reason why the South American civilizations like the Inca, Mayans, Aztecs, Olmec etc didn't utilize the wheel, plus with the tsetse fly which kills animals like horses it would have been impractical. In more suitable regions it was used and spread such as Kush! Yes Nubians had the wheel as did the Garamantes of North Africa.
no machinery, why even mention machinery exactly?
no roads. There were roads used for trade I'm West Africa actually however they were not paved and in the forest region.they had to maintain them constantly to keep them clear. I believe it was the Benin kingdom or the Ashanti which had these roads.

So what were the survival pressures of equatorial Africa, did they require roads, machines, food storage, robust defenses like thick stone walls and castles, or could they simply get by with sharp sticks, rocks, and grass huts? Is it not enough to know that humans evolved in the rift valley, so all of us originated in Africa, no matter how much resistance we have to UV light?
I live above the 45th parallel, not much sunlight here even in summer with very long days, and its very short days in winter, so vitamin D production is a problem for people here. My black friends all end up taking supplements of D, they don't get anywhere near enough sunlight because the melanin blocks the UV light so effectively. That is why we have lighter skin when we come from northern latitudes, its a product of the environment, and people make far too big a deal about UV resistance. Its reality, and reality is not an attack.
Where people have a need for something, they will develop it. Where there is harsh living conditions with severe survival pressure, the more capable and aware will devise a means of not starving and freezing to death. Hypothermia is one hell of a motivator, believe me its April 30th and its just barely 56F here. Just a week ago it was 20F here. Native Americans came up with ways to survive in this environment, but they didn't have a space program either, yet they don't get pissy when someone says they didn't build two story houses or have a written language. They didn't need them.
You can employ sharpshooter fallacies all you want, but the fact of the matter is when food and shelter are not your greatest priority, you won't need to develop much beyond gathering it. Africa simply ran into people who had not only endured, but thrived in a cold inhospitable place for centuries, so they had different ideas, different methods due to very different needs.
Stop being so damn resentful and just be you. You can benefit from all of human advancement, or you can be pissed off that not getting sunburned and having easy access to food means you didn't invent much. Two of the most beautiful girls I dated in my travels around the world were from West Africa, Togo and Ivory Coast, they were wonderful and fun to be around....but that was more than 30 years ago. Now people are resentful rather than wanting to enjoy life.

My question is, if the local people had the knowledge to build such a structure, all those years ago, why is there nothing else to be seen in the country to indicate that the knowledge had been passed down to others. i.e. if a group of people build a skyscraper they do not do it once, they carry on and build others, bigger and better.

Yes, dry stone walls up to 36 feet high (that alone suggests some degree of skill in dressing the stone and building it up) covering a site of around 1,800 acres. The site was occupied from around the 11th to the 15th centuries. It would be interesting to know whether it was first enclosed with wooden walls, or was stone used from the start. Castles in Britain and Europe also had wooden walls and buildings within up to the early 12th century, when stone began to replace first the outer walls and then later the internal buildings. Mocking Great Zimbabwe by comparing it to Salisbury Cathedral is ridiculous, as the two places have very different usages. Why not compare its walls with European city walls from a similar date (a few still survive in part), or compare Salisbury with far older Temple complexes from ancient Egypt.
I don't have a problem with knocking the pretensions of idiots who might claim this Shona site is a civilisation on a par with European countries in the Middle Ages, because that is patent nonsense. It was built because of it's important position on a trade route across Southern Africa. When that route declined or fell into disuse, the site was abandoned. In that way it's similar to ancient Nubia on the Upper Nile, which was on an important staging post on the trade routes between central Africa and Egypt.

The only substantive ones suggested that you did not accurately represent the art and architecture of the time.
Lo and behold, upon looking at these things for myself, you did a far better job of representing these cultures than the idiots on reddit did.
For some reason, leftists interpret certain statements of fact regarding foreign cultures as judgement calls regarding their peoples' value. I can definitively say here, that the quality of African architecture or science or art has no bearing on the fundamental dignity I ascribe Africans as human beings.

Cold weather will make them smarter, but civilisation is linked with agriculture. Where agriculture starts, civilisations are soon to follow. For obvious reasons. But not all the civilisations are the same. You look at India and its magnificent temples and think 'wow, what an advanced civilisation'. Only that most of the people there survived humiliated and exploited in primitive huts. At the same time in Greece, Italy, Germanic world and basically everywhere in Europe to an extent, there were civilisations built by free equal citizens, not by abusive elites treating the rest as cattle. This was unique to Europe. The polis, the burg and so on. A large part of the population was urbanised, very skilled in various trades, with spare income and spare free time to study and read. They were also fighting not forced, but willing, as to preserve their individual freedom. Compared to the rest of the world where people were fighting forced by their rulers or with the incentive of plunder.

Arabs of southern Arabia didn’t go into Ethiopia to create Aksum. As the name Aksum itself is mixed. “Ak” meaning water in agew. & “sum” meaning chief or master in Ethiopic / Ge’ez. Also the Ge’ez script predates Arabic. However it has close resemblance to greek. Secondly when talking about the languages of Amharic & it’s sounds. It’s mostly closely related to Akkadian & Aramaic both dead biblical languages spoken during the times of the Bible. Also according to religious texts (not the Bible) it says that the children of Moses & Abraham where Ethiopians. Which thus explains our Semitic origins. Also southern Arabia was inhabited by Jews. Not Arabs as Arabs are a mixed people mixed with Mesopotamian Persian green & even african. In terms of Aksum not being African. The oldest churches are found not in Tigray or Eritrea. They are found in the Amhara region. Churches dating back to the 6th & 5th century. As other churches of such age aren’t found (also along with remnants of Jewish synagogues & graves) which corroborate the biblical & judeo origin of the “Ethiopians”. As their semtic origins aren’t from southern Arabia but the levant & canaan.

Simon still confusing cultural & linguistic influences with colonisation. If Ethiopia was just a Semitic colony at the time of Axum (which it wasn't, according to archaeology) how to explain later medieval Ethiopian civilisation? Was Napoleonic France simply a Roman colony (French being derived from Latin and the script coming from Latin) and were the indigenous French therefore incapable of creating civilisation? At least, Ethiopians invented their own script unlike the French (or the English for that matter)! It's all terribly simplistic and misleading. I think it was a video where Simon was claiming that the Grand Mosque of Djenne was a French colonial building and he compared it to the previous mosque on the site, using a French postcard that clearly stated that it was of the ruins of the previous mosque (showing a ruined adobe wall) but Simon gave the impression that the ruins WERE the previous mosque (which I understand was very large by the way). Then there was a video where Simon attacked a book because it had black pharoahs in the title even though it was about the 25th Nubian dynasty which is about as uncontroversial example of black pharaohs as one can get. I have a book from the early 60's referring to that dynasty as black. I challenged him on that and he claimed with no evidence at all that the 25th dynasty may have been the descendants of Egyptian governors of the New Kingdom (i.e. hundreds of years before, and if they had any descendants in Nubia by then they would have been totally Nubian anyway). Sadly it's what his followers want to hear to give their racism validation. Simon is like a one man National Front information office.

When really, the Kingdom of Dm’t is more accurate to your statement. The Kingdom of D’mt was probably established by Yemeni colonists. Aksum was a city state in Ethiopia that rose to become the Aksumite Empire half a thousand years after D’mt collapsed. And they developed a written script without any outside influence. They only reached into Yemen in the 500s, when they colonized it themselves. Yes, they were Africans, i’ll admit with Semitic culture, that colonized outwards of the continent.

Imagine you have no iron smelting and you have to defend yourself against incoming tribes from your territory in a place like the limpompo thats why they made drystone walling. The walls where made before the people learnt hoe to iron smelt. Instead they had a very primitive type of metallurgy . @Casca from the University of Cambridge I enjoy posting this on this site:
Were the Ancient Egyptians Africans? What colour was their skin?
Yes. Egypt is in Africa and there are many cultural links to other African civilisations.
If we look at the skin colour and also facial features on representations of Egyptians, many are what we would consider today to be Black African. Skin colours on temple and wall reliefs show ranges between dark brown and black, which is typical of what we see today with regard to people of Black African descent or origin. Furthermore, Nubians, a group who are accepted universally as Black Africans are, like their neighbours from Kemet, shown on reliefs with both jet black and red-brown skin and can be distinguished as Nubians by their short wigs.
Many statues have lost their original skin colour. Sometimes colours were used by the Egyptians symbolically, so for example a statue of a god or royal person would painted gold to represent immortality.
If we leave colour aside for a moment, we can also find out a great deal from looking at the facial features shown on Egyptian statues. Here, there can be no doubt that we are dealing with people who were African. Faces were broad with high cheekbones and the jaws are typically strong. The noses are also broad and the lips are generally full and fleshy in appearance.

So, if the fact the script derives from another culture takes anything away from the Kushites it should takes away from Europeans too technically since the Hellenstic script and Latin script both derive from Phoenician and that in turn derives from ancient Egyptian Hyroglphics. There are only a few places on Earth where you see scripts without outside influence those are usually cradles of civilization! Egypt, China, Mesopatamia, Mesoamerica and Indus Valley for example

Look up traditional Nubian architecture and again count how many stories an average house had. In fact look at all these European illustrations of indegenious architecture. Now, if these were built by Arabs or by Europeans by all means I want you and or Simon prove it and debunk this history, and don't just talk cite your sources and let's see.
Then when it comes to the statements about the wheel. Well ofcourse the wheel wasn't used if you knew the history of the wheel you'd know it didn't spring up out of nowhere all over Eurasia and North Africa. I presume he did since your so educated, but I guess not. The wheel is an invention which came about from early Eurasians who first domesticated the horse.
Then he said no roads. There were roads used for trade in West Africa actually however, they were not paved and they were in the forest regions. The roads had to maintain them constantly to keep them clear. I believe it was the Benin kingdom or the Ashanti which had these roads.

It's known Mwene Mutapa Chingwanu Rusvingo is the one who ordered this to be built plus mind you there are dozens of other ruins scattered across the region one my own direct ancestor took from his rival. Based on archeaology and excavations its Bern proven the Shona/Karanga and our cousins built and ruled this region.

@@admirekashiri9879 there is no archeological evidence that Great Zimbabwe was constructed by the Shona.
While your ancestors may have inhabited the area, that is not proof that they constructed these buildings.

Is this what we are doing we ignore all the African art that was stolen and act like African;s were not the ones to settle the Arab and Hindu Nations? Really is this what we are doing. While Europeans were running around naked there were no highly educated people with no written language and performing surgeries and charting the stars. Europeans have always had a very smug view of themselves.

Quite right. As for Great Zimbabwe it's actual origins go back to Mapungubwe on the other side of the Limpopo in South Africa. Unwelcome facts for some with an axe to grind. The only technology they seem to have developed on their own was the ability to smelt copper and iron and all those crafts were kept secret from your average peasant.

I remember reading that when Portuguese and Spanish first came across sub saharan Africans there were 4 issues that stood out.
    1. no written language
    2. No two story dwellings
    3. No calendar
    4. No domesticated animals..
And yet lve been told that Mozart was black, septimus Severus was black, black musicians in Henry v111s Court etc etc and the reason nobody knows this is because of white Europeans rewriting history... Hahaha

In 1691, the Portuguese ship captain Lourenco Pinto observed: “Great Benin, where the king resides, is larger than Lisbon; all the streets run straight and as far as the eye can see. The houses are large, especially that of the king, which is richly decorated and has fine columns. The city is wealthy and industrious. It is so well governed that theft is unknown and the people live in such security that they have no doors to their houses.”
