I love the art for kids hub suggestion. Not only does drawing help with writing; that activity helps with listening skills (the forgotten language arts). I wanted to love First Language Lessons and all of Susan Bauer's books. We settled on narration, dictation, copywork, good books, and learned grammar through latin study. For handwriting, I love the 1/2 inch grid notebooks rather than the primary paper. Isn't it great that we have so many choices now; back when I started homeschooling the choices were much more limited.
Listening skills is definitely the forgotten language arts. Being able to follow instructions helps with that so much. I like the way you set up your language arts. It sounds really solid, Kristy. -LaVonda
This video has been so helpful! I enjoyed it so much that I subscribed. I'm researching the Well Trained Mind for my two kids. I'm curious, do you think it would help with grammar or do you use a separate grammar curriculum? Thank you!
@@Homeschoolific I've used with my kids and love it. My kids vary in their opinions: 1 really liked it, 1 tolerated, and 1 quite hates it. The hater used WWE1 last year, lol. But, with all of them I have see/n growth in writing and thinking ability, so I'm giving younger kiddo a summer break from it, but we continue.

You're very welcome. -LaVonda
Reminder to myself to incorporate handwriting. We do hooked on phonics but what really helped my tker was some apps. For learning to read.
I remember doing hooked on phonics as a child. It's a great foundation. -LaVonda

Hi Amanda! This is a grammar curriculum that I've used for all of my kiddos and love it. We use a separate phonics curriculum. -LaVonda
I love FLL, and agree, for the targeted age range, I think it's the best. Do you use WWE as well?
We're planning to use Writing With Ease this school year. It will be our first time using it.
Do you use it? If so, how is it working for you?
