    This is absolutely amazing. I have a dyslexic son and I learn how to tutor him using Barton Reading and Spelling so I am very aware of all the English phonetic/spelling rules. I have also used programs such as AAR/AAS, LoE, etc. Your new program is such a nice resource. I went through the entire PDF before downloading to see if it would meet my high expectations (because I know better now that I am a dyslexia tutor) and yes! This totally meets my expectations.

    We are loving this curriculum Sherry. I honestly never considered using a spelling curriculum, while implementing CM methods, but this has been a lifesaver. I’m currently using it with my second grader (she is also working through the 1st McGuffey reader) who desires to write her own letters to friends and family but cannot spell on her own, at all. It’s so simple and clear. I actually printed out your free version to see how we liked it and bound it myself using a whole punch and dental floss….she LOVES it, and often does it on her own in bed at night, for fun (although I prefer we do it together, it helps me too). Thanks so much! Looking forward to purchasing color versions online for the other children!

    This makes a great review and refresher for older kids especially the that struggle a bit more with spelling! We us spelling powers word list and just copy them down easy! I have struggled to find spelling rules that actually make since. This was is great and easy to understand. I love how they are spelling secrets and not rules!! I was a struggle reader and speller in public school all the way up till I started teaching my boys phonics. I always got so confused when they taught us a spelling/reading rule and then when I spelled or read a word incorrectly they said well that word doesn't follow the rule that happened so much I wanted to cry as a kids. It just didn't make since in my brain to have a rule if the same number of words didn't follow it as did follow the rule. So I have never taught spelling rules except through phonics which was more like sounds pairs.

    • @MomDelights
      @MomDelights  2 роки тому +1

      So true. You can't call them "rules" really, can you? I think using an understanding of phonics is a good place to start, but so much of English is not phonetically spelled that it can only take you so far.

Sadly, I can't help her because I am not good with the English language and I see all these other curriculums but they are so expensive and so many of them that it is overwhelming. For the spelling part, is this appropriate for her age?

      Absolutely! A great book for her age would be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. If you don't feel confident to read it aloud yourself, you could find it as an audio book, and both of you could practice by tell the story back in your own words.
