excellent tutorial.. i so glad i saw this, i've had this plug in for awhile and just recently started using it.. i was playing between the send of a bus track and the main as usage, but will now load/play it on a mix bus, makes perfect sense.. i think its a great tool i could really hear the openness..
I liked the setup info and tape harmonics backdrop everyone's whining about...Informative.. If you have a cognitive backstory to the WHAT and WHY, then you will get what this tool is intended for.
I really like the instrumental track used in this video. I wonder why Waves has not responded to a similar query posted 2 years ago? This track should not be ignored!
Hi, great tutorial. Quick question where would you place this plugin in the mastering chain? thanks in advance. I'm subscribing because you broke it down where it was explained very clearly.
I bought it. It's a bit too subtle in my opinion, it's easy to go from zero to nonsense, maybe a more linear approach could be helpful. Anyway it is able to give you "that zing" to your mixes.
I use a lot of Waves stuff, but I'm really not feeling this particular one. I'm listening with my good studio phones right now and this plug is doing virtually nothing (good) to the mix. You're much better served by a standard chain of plugs on the mixbus.
...but an octave is not additive... that would be linear. Octaves are a doubling which is exponential. If the fundamental A is 110, the next octave is 220 but the next octave is not 330, it would be 440. Then 880, 1760, 3520, etc. You don’t simply add another 110 to get the next octave. The in-between harmonics are on the exponential curve as well, not simply additive. That is misinformation and isn’t how pitch is related to frequency. Good plugin though!
@waves This plug-in’s GUI is clearly mislabeled. Even harmonics add “warmth” & Odd harmonics add “edge.” Your software engineers & audio engineers are on two different pages.
**Have a look @ the EQ section: the corresponding numbers & frequencies completely contradict the saturation section. The “even” numbered frequencies correspond with odd saturation while the “odd” numbered frequencies correspond with the even saturation 🤔
Seems to be difficult to use. What does it really do? Sounds like saturation, not like exciter to me. And it's not multiband, but it does allow for a lot of control over the harmonics.
damn....finally someone has the balls to say it like it is....nice work brother....this is not sarcasm just in case you're thinking that...(its hard to tell with just text)
Its not nonsense. If you are involved with DAW recording, which by the way is the future, you would understand what he is talking about. This the glue which makes a mix work. YOU FEEL IT not hear it. I have been home recording for 30 years. These new plugins are really making a difference in the work that I put out. Its a hobby for me, I do not charge my clients. If I am inspired by their work I record them. I struggled for years trying to make my mixes sound professional, these new plugins are getting me much closer to my goal and for the price of a steak dinner out with my wife. I know it works and is not BS because the client tells me there is something magical about my mix
Well thats pretty close James. I started out on a fostex 4 track. And apparently you have missed my point. I thank Waves and the like for providing me the ...ready for it...James... HOME STUDIO HOBBIEST, with a great product like this that brings a pleasing sound to my ears. I had a successful career and am now retired at 56 and enjoying raising my young kids 8 and 11. I am not a pro musician nor do I want to be. I do not have the room or the budget for all the analog gear that would be found in a vintage studio but with great plugins like this I can enjoy my passion and provide local talent with an acceptable recording that takes them another step down the trail of making music. Not everyone can be a star. Still like the plug in and the DAW world....at home
if you actually want to hear what the actual plugin actually does to music, actually, skip to 8:20.
Thank you
AMEN to that... even then he wants to talk over it...
Dude really loves the sound of his own voice...

Really nice tutorial, you can never know enough about this tool, it's the track's "smile" factor!

Really powerful Mastering Stool 21:30 ;)

Me, too and I wish I could listen to the Master track....why don’t they put a track link?
9:37 is golden i LOVE the rRhodes there!
nice track for sure.
So H1, H3 and H5 are even, while H2, H4 and H6 are odd. Whose idea was this?
great tutorial

works great on bass content for me
Don't know if this was asked. Are the Harmonics Modes same as root key not of song?
PLEASE tell us what the song is!

it adds warmth, magic. without is more digital
@@martin_brozius Yea, faking magic 😁
With or without no change, even worse...?!?
Tutorial starts at @8:29 😩

Also wrong was at around 17:50 he mistakenly referred to the low pass filter as a high pass. It was labeled LP.
I always hear distortion i don't like.
i dont understand, dont even harmonics more warmth and odd harmonics more edge? tf

DID YOU SAW THE WHOLE OF THE MOON ?
LOL...makes me wanna write words for it....
Way too much talking before getting to the point.
BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH .... play the damn tape already!!!
if plugin does little bit more than nothing it should be in chain. i use it sometimes
lol
this is absolutely terrible sounding
"Um." "Uh."
Voice over is way too loud. Talk too much.
more plugin nonsense to make modern music sound even worse than it already does.. when will you guys juts give it up?
damn....finally someone has the balls to say it like it is....nice work brother....this is not sarcasm just in case you're thinking that...(its hard to tell with just text)

30 years of recording... and you are still Home recording? what did you record on 30 years ago a porta studio? lol

This convo is way too polite and mature for youtube.
Come on guys!
can't you call each other's mothers sluts or Al Qaeda or something?
Sheesh!
this plugin seems to do nothing. Go buy Melodyne, there you have full harmonic treatment
Different things. Saturation vs pitch correction.
go buy accordion, it is more harmonic filled
Alex Mag better yet a Harmonica
i love this tape saturator i use it all the time nowadays
