Here are my top five plug-ins for vocals 1) studiorack 2)waves harmony 3)all their noise suppressors 4) CLA vocals 5)DPR 402 This is of course the top fun ones. The top 5 before that 😂 are the essentials.
It really does! Im always impressed with what it does - even for something as simple as my UA-cam video audio when I’m cleaning things up before posting 👀🚀
Scheps Omni channel an underrated channel strip. They also just released the magma tube channel strip with the BB tubes algorithm. Both of those are great. Also can’t forget about CLA-76 and CLA Vocals
I assume you’re referring to playing it in full context with all sounds/elements. I totally hear you. The challenge of videos like this is deciding how long to make it - and this video already felt long enough to me personally. Adding a “context” section for each is at least another 20-30 seconds per example, so likely another 5-7 mins of run-time depending. That in and of itself could be OK for some, but my goal was to really highlight my specific use cases, why I like a plugin and give a quick example where it’s easier to hear the differences (solo mode). In the past I found If I do too much in context, people complain it isn’t in solo and is harder to hear differences so for this video I opted to focus on things in solo mode. Taking your note under serious consideration for future videos nonetheless. Thanks for watching Glenn!
Definitely. Not just limited to the LA2A - I find compression in general has a cause-and-effect relationship but something to be aware of for sure. Salute!!
Maybe I'm in the minority these days, but I do wish that vocal plugin demos would be done on actual proper singing vocals instead of dreary flat hiphop samples which are basically just regular talking.
I primarily mix hip hop and Afrobeats so while I hear you and feel for you, it’s my channel and I showcase actual songs I mix and master on a daily basis (and have permission to use as copyright can be a big problem for videos like mine) Despite that - my lessons transcend the genre they’re in IF you’re able to get over the song being used. I’ve got comments from metal heads saying even though they’re in a totally different lane, my hip hop mixing videos helped them mix better so consider that 😂 I wish I could do more to help but all I can do is stay true to me and showcase what I actually work on for the people who genuinely want it 🚀 As an aside, this MAY be a good jump off point for you to start a channel of your own showcasing the genre/style you prefer 👀 I’ll graciously accept 5% of your monetization revenue for the idea 😂🙏🏼
I understand where u coming from I prefer to mix singers over rap artist but even wit rap the mix can get complicated in other words one size will never fit all.....some voices are similar but not the same there fore if u want a completed up to par mix u have to mix ever vocal separately even the ones with the same artist see different beats call for different deliveries the only time it's jus talking is when there's an intro outro or even a break or bridge and even then u can't put the rap EQ on the talking as alot of times there's more bottoms when someone is jus talking than when they are rapping
Hey 5piece. i have all of those plugins you mentions thank u for the explanation. i wonder if you can make a video about how plugins effect incoming sound after a certain gain pushed into them. like 18dbfs. or 0 in a VU meter. :) thanks for the time u putting into theses videos. i apricate u :)
if u pay monthl u get like a 100 plugins whole time so i know u got all i gogt plus fr and thanx for the knowledge my g i know this is an older videon im still great full
Seems like most of this stuff is directed more towards rap, pop and hip hop. I gotta say, listening to those people singing that stuff when they music is muted is so funny! It really cracks me up because it's so goofy. Lol!
Maybe a weird question, but what is the best way to get formal education in sound engineering?? Do you have any recommendations (preferably Toronto area)?
I’ve been meaning to make a video on this for awhile but I have an article on my website that answers the question pretty succinctly here: 5piecemusic.com/should-i-go-to-audio-engineering-school/ I personally went to Metalworks, which is in Mississauga. I went there because it was the only school that was actually a studio with big names coming in, and they had actual equipment like SSL consoles and the like. Trebas, RAC and Harris are other options but paled in comparison when I attended college back in 2013. Keep in mind: You don’t NEED to go to school for this stuff, but depending on your learning style and desires, it may make sense to. My article should help you decide if it’s something worth pursuing. Best of luck!
@@БратБратуБратБрат I get you. Never thought you were implying I don’t know what I’m talking about - this video is the epitome of an opinion piece. But I am confused as to why make that comment when I literally addressed it head on in the first 30 seconds of the video 😂 what was the purpose then?
@@5piece World leaders adress so many things ahead. They translate it on national TV (which by all means not a great source of information ). On the other hand a guy on the internet can say alot of things, like a tiktok star who get money from the government to push personal interests. I understand there is this "law" to adress and be upfront if the video is sponsored or not so people be more "aware", with that said, even if they did it like a barter deal, video for plug-ins or whatever, good for you fam.
@@БратБратуБратБратI appreciate that. Not sure if you’re Canadian, but up here (I’m Canadian) we literally just had that situation transpire with the government being outed to paying influencers $600K to promote vaccinations. Ironically, there ARE laws in place for that for influencers, meaning you are supposed to disclose sponsored videos. Even affiliate links, you’ll see are disclosed (which I do in every video description as I often do have affiliate links). If one of my videos IS sponsored, even if I don’t blatantly say it, you will see the “sponsored” or “paid endorsement” tag is enabled on the video (which it isn’t in this case because it isn’t sponsored). Despite that, it’s still a gray area in terms of enforcement but I do my best to be upfront and honest with good folks like yourself on these things. You’d actually be surprised at how much stuff I turn down sponsorship-wise because I I just don’t believe it’ll serve my audience, or I just don’t agree with the agenda. “Bigger picture” as they say.
These are MY top Waves plugin picks. What are yours? Comment below 👇🏼
I want those wave dm th link bro
Here are my top five plug-ins for vocals
1) studiorack
2)waves harmony
3)all their noise suppressors
4) CLA vocals
5)DPR 402
This is of course the top fun ones. The top 5 before that 😂 are the essentials.
Some interesting picks there that I need to play with more myself 👀 thanks for sharing 🙏🏼👊🏼
which plugins within studiorack do you use?
I searched a lot but I did not find anyone better than you in modifying the sound
Rchannel, wavestune realtime (on the audio track), rvox, and F6 (on the vocal aux) in that order. Low latency and very clean vocals
Solid choices 👊🏼
Exactly what I needed to see! Preesh! 🙏🏾
Appreciate you! Glad it was helpful 🙏🏼
WOW... so comprehensive, bro.. This is so amazing. and that NS1 always does wonders

Agree 100%. I actually haven’t used the omni channel much so thanks for the reminder to dive into that one more 🙏🏼
Is the magma tube on the scheps or separate plugin?
Yerrr i made my template with all this plugins… thanks for the video 🔥
You helped me out so much!!! Can’t wait for my mixing session tonight I’ll be trying out some of these plugins!! New subscriber here! 🔥
I wish you could have compared bypassed and in-use examples with the exact same section of audio.

Question , Is it better to mix on the mono vocal track itself, or do I send it to an Aux Stereo and mix on the aux track?
Mix on Aux stereo track for Effect purposes like Reverb & Delay..& Panning
For some reason i like the waves la2a better then uad la2a i feel like waves la2a is more smoother
that's how I feel LOL I was surprised that I preferred that as well. glad I'm not alone ;)
Good job ❤
Great information!
Thank you! Happy to help 🙌🏼
i notice that too w the cla-2a... waves pushes through more
Definitely. Not just limited to the LA2A - I find compression in general has a cause-and-effect relationship but something to be aware of for sure. Salute!!
thanks for the super in-depth info, appreciate you!

I wouldn't even mind if the vocalist wasn't that good.

Big fan of Silk Vocal
Agreed. It’s a good one, especially if you got it for free Black Friday 👀

Interesting idea. So essentially, driving volume into a plugin to achieve a specific result, and the thinking behind it. I’ll see what I can do 🫡

I have so many slept on videos, but that’s OK - more power to the folks like you who watch ‘em and actually soak them in. Thank you my friend!
Works on fl studio?
Awesome , learn a lot from u,thank you ♥♥♥

CLA 2A /CLA VOCALS/ WAVE SILK / clarity vx
Clarity eats up my cpu but it helps me a lot
Is there anyway I could use it
@@IKONSIREfacts, Clarity is nice but it's a cpu hog. I'd use it then bounce the audio down if necessary
@@IKONSIRE eco mode in clarity(mono) can help you i guess..i use i5 processor...it works

Imma try it out
Solid picks. Definitely check out the NS1 if Clarity VX is messing your ish up. It hasn’t caused me any problems in the past 👀

Real recognize real my friend 👊🏼
Are you drawn to not only the number 5, but 55, and 555 also?
Just curious.
Great channel man😊
Great brooh thank you
Manny toner is a great plugin too
Great content, but the UAD La2a is wayyy better
Definitely love the UAD one also. For some reason, I just gravitate towards the CLA-2A and prefer how it sounds. Even that surprises me!
all my waves plugins are in the update jail right now
I know the ones. Literally JUST upgraded to an M3 Max MaxBook (after shooting this video) and some Waves plugs STILL aren’t even compatible yet 😮💨
So waves sponsor?
I literally said it was not sponsored at 0:19 and explain why I focus on waves in this video
@@5piece I mean.. I didn't try in any way, shape or form to suggest you don't know what you talk about. And I'm not trying to hurt your credibility.
